About IT’S IN HIS FOREVER

Red River’s most eligible bachelor has been keeping secrets…

Flight medic Langston Brooks has built a good life for himself in his hometown of Red River. He’s got it all—a close-knit group of friends and family, an exciting career on a life-flight helicopter, and ridiculously good looks that have made him one of Red River’s most eligible bachelors. The only thing missing is someone to share it with.

His secret lover for the past decade isn’t a forever kind of girl. Not with a tarnished reputation over something she didn’t do, and it’s still following her. Now that she’s brought an international winter sports event to Red River, it’s her ticket out of town. She can finally make a clean break as soon as she collects the nice payday that’s coming her way. The only problem with her plan is she’ll have to leave Langston behind, too.

After keeping their relationship under wraps for years—at her insistence—she finally breaks it off with Langston for good. Moving on alone is best for everyone, especially Red River’s sexy flight medic, who doesn’t deserve the baggage from her troubled past. When they’re forced to work together to make the event a success, can she keep up the pretense that she doesn’t love him anymore? Or will she finally give in and become his forever love?

Return to Red River–where the nights are cool and the romance is hot–in this sexy novella.

Find out who hot alpha flight medic, Langston Brooks has been seeing on the sly for years. After keeping their love affair a secret for a decade, will they finally get their happily ever after?

Read an excerpt from IT’S IN HIS FOREVER:

“What the heck just happened?” Wait. Had she said that out loud?

Langston shifted his large frame, closing the space between them. “I think I just became an important part of your event staff.”

Dammit. She had said it out loud.

She spun to face him, steam practically billowing from her ears. “Why did you do that? You undermined my authority, not to mention the fact that you know this is a bad idea.” Her head snapped around to make sure no one was listening. Thank goodness the council was already filtering toward the door. “You know how people in this town are. If we spend a lot of time together, which we will with you as the safety officer, they’ll start talking.”

“So let them talk.” He shrugged.

So angry she was at a loss for words, she simply let out a frustrated huff.

Langston stared at his mug, the muscle in his jaw ticking. Finally, he said, “Hell. If you don’t want people to talk about us, then maybe we shouldn’t have been sleeping together the past ten years.”

Twelve years. If the two years of hot and heavy making out in high school didn’t count.

“That’s over, remember?” How could he not? She’d told him to his face, so he could finally move on without her dragging him down like an anchor sinking a ship.

Langston leaned closer. “If it makes you feel better, then keep telling yourself that.” He placed his mug on the table. “But you and I both know it’s never going to be over between us.”

He turned to leave but hesitated. “Mr. Brooks? Really? I know you’ve always wanted to keep our relationship a secret, but calling me Mr. Brooks when I’ve seen you naked…” His gaze slid down her length. Even though she was clothed in full winter gear, his eyes darkened as though he was picturing her with nothing on at all.

Her skin prickled, and the room suddenly grew warm. Heat slid through her, settling between her thighs. She clenched every muscle from the waist down.

“Yes, well…” She hugged her papers to her chest. “It was fun, but it’s time to move on. This will be nothing more than work between us.” She smiled, realizing she did have a card to play. “And as far as the snowboarding event is concerned, I’m your boss.”

A slow, naughty smile spread across his face. “That makes it all the more interesting.” He strolled through the front door, leaving her staring after him.

Leaving her more determined than ever to keep their working relationship purely professional.

Leaving her wanting him more than ever.

“Good grief. Haven’t you heard I screwed up my marriage? I’m useless when it comes to socialising.”
“You’re too hard on yourself. A failed marriage doesn’t reflect one bit on your socialising. Just because you think you’re not perfect because of a small imperfection, you shouldn’t hide from life.”
She stared at him. “Is this turning into a counselling session?”
“Do you need one?”
Silence hung between them until Harrison stood. “My sister in law hid from life because of a scar on her face. I’m glad my brother and his mother were persistent, she could’ve missed out on so much.”
Without giving her a chance to reply, he left her office. Left her with a head full of thoughts to work through. Was she hiding? Was she convinced she was not perfect? She lifted her hands, looking at the scarred skin from her eczema and blew out a breath. No, he was wrong. She wasn’t hiding, but healing from a failed marriage and at the same time raising her daughter to the best of her ability.
And what the hell did it mean his brother’s mother?

“Echoes of the Past”  is available
FREE for KU subscribers on Amazon.

“Their Bond through Jade” $2.99 or FREE for KU subscribers

Happy Wednesday everyone. I’ve decided to move on to another book I’d like to share with you. It’s an older one, the second book in my Australian Sports Stars Series. “Let Me Love You” is Oliver’s story. ENJOY ♥

Today’s Hook:

Oliver Dempsey was no stranger to Tamara. She’d watched him on the field a couple of times since being hired as an accountant in the office. The many sinewy sportsmen were often a welcome distraction to her daily numbers, and Oliver had been the hero in many of her daydreams. He had no problems showing off his upper body after a long, hard training session, but she had to admit, he looked even better close up—his suntanned face with just a shadow of a beard, his dark hair cut short, still wet from his shower, and those green eyes! Her whole body reacted simply from looking at him.
However, her pain was still too raw, and even with all her willpower, her hands started trembling just at the thought of a man stepping too close to her. Desire suddenly turned into apprehension. She took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself as she held Oliver’s gaze.
“You okay?” he asked.
Taking another deep breath, she moved away from him and subconsciously kept looking for her keys. They just had to be in her bag, no doubt about it.

BLURB:

Oliver Dempsey, pitcher for a Melbourne baseball club, loves the women, and they love him…
But he keeps them at an arm’s length, and when he meets Tamara, he’s unprepared for the attraction he feels for her. Told by his coach that she’s off limits, only draws him in more.

Tamara Amis moved to Melbourne to find some distance between her past and herself…
With the help of her uncle, the coach of a Melbourne baseball club, she quickly finds a job, and a place to live. Yet, one meeting with the handsome pitcher stirs unexpected emotions that threaten to overwhelm her.

It’s Oliver’s injury that brings them together, but as they find out about each other’s pasts, how can they be ready to share a future?

Morning’s Journey
The Dragon’s Dove Chronicles Book 2
Magnificent.”
~ Kathleen Foley, author of the Faith in Uniform series
In a violent age when enemies besiege Brydein and alliances shift as
swiftly as the wind, stand two remarkable leaders: the Caledonian
warrior-queen Gyanhumara and her consort, Arthur the Pendragon. Their
fiery love is tempered only by their conviction to forge unity
between their disparate peoples. Arthur and Gyan must create an
impenetrable front to protect Brydein and Caledonia from land-lusting
Saxons and the marauding Angli raiders who may be massing forces in
the east, near Arthur’s sister and those he has sworn to protect.
But their biggest threat is an enemy within: Urien, Arthur’s rival and
the man Gyan was treaty-bound to marry until she broke that promise
for Arthur’s love. When Urien becomes chieftain of his clan, his
increase in wealth and power is matched only by the magnitude of his
hatred of Arthur and Gyan—and his threat to their infant son.
Morning’s Journey, sequel to the critically acclaimed Dawnflight,
propels the reader from the heights of triumph to the depths of
despair, through the struggles of some of the most fascinating
characters in all of Arthurian literature. Those struggles are
exacerbated by the characters’ own flawed choices. Gyan and Arthur
must learn that while extending forgiveness to others may be
difficult, forgiveness of self is the most excruciating—yet
ultimately the most healing—step of the entire journey.
Dawnflight
The Dragon’s Dove Chronicles Book 1
What if King Arthur’s queen was every bit as heroic as he was? Find out
by immersing yourself in this epic story of the power couple whose
courage and conviction would shape the destiny of a nation.
Gyan is a Caledonian chieftainess by birth, a warrior and leader of
warriors by training, and she is betrothed to Urien, a son of her
clan’s deadliest enemy, by right of Arthur the Pendragon’s
conquest of her people. For the sake of peace, Gyan is willing to
sacrifice everything…perhaps even her very life, if her foreboding
about Urien proves true.
Roman by his father, Brytoni by his mother, and denied hereditary rulership
of his mother’s clan because of his mixed blood, Arthur has followed
his father’s path to become Dux Britanniarum, the Pendragon: supreme
commander of the northern Brytoni army. The Caledonians, Scots,
Saxons, and Angles keep him too busy to dwell upon his
loneliness…most of the time.
When Gyan and Arthur meet, each recognize within the other their soul’s
mate. The treaty has preserved Gyan’s ancient right to marry any
man, providing he is a Brytoni nobleman—but Arthur does not
qualify. And the ambitious Urien, Arthur’s greatest political
rival, shall not be so easily denied. If Gyan and Arthur cannot
prevent Urien from plunging the Caledonians and Brytons back into
war, their love will be doomed to remain unfulfilled forever.
But there is an even greater threat looming. The Laird of the Scots wants
their land and will kill all who stand in his way. Gyan, Arthur, and
Urien must unite to defeat this merciless enemy who threatens
everyone they hold dear.
Kim Headlee lives on a farm in southwestern Virginia with her family,
cats, goats, Great Pyrenees goat guards, and assorted wildlife.
People and creatures come and go, but the cave and the 250-year-old
house ruins–the latter having been occupied as recently as the
mid-twentieth century–seem to be sticking around for a while yet.
Kim has been a published novelist since 1999 with the
first edition of Dawnflight (Sonnet Books, Simon & Schuster) and
has been studying the Arthurian legends for nigh on half a century.

Excerpt:

In the biz, your word was golden, and there were rules that had to be upheld. White lies were acceptable, but there were certain lines one never crossed. Keep data in code, shield clients’ privacy, and, most importantly, protect the girls. At all costs. I’d always honored these precepts to the best of my abilities. It helped me stay afloat while other madams sank like flat tires in the Anacostia River.
Yet there I was after one free lunch, considering a partnership with a man who didn’t deserve to lick my stilettoes. Why? Was it the champagne? Drummond’s smooth tongue? The fact that creditors were calling on a regular basis? Whatever the reason, I couldn’t dismiss him until I exhausted every option.

Unfortunately, I only had one.

Even worse, she hated my guts.

Lauren must tell the truth or risk losing Cole. Is her newly-discovered love for him greater than her fear of scandal in her hometown?

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks

EXCERPT:

“We asked you to come here this evening because we have something we want to tell all of you. Lauren and I are getting married.”

The room went deathly quiet. Lauren tightened her grip on his hand. Her face turned pale as she stared at her family’s stunned expressions. Cole put his arm around her waist, afraid she might faint.

He needn’t have worried. She lifted her chin at a defiant angle and turned to face the others.

“Cole and I have decided this child needs the best possible start in life and that means having a mother and a father. We’ve always been friends, so what better way to start a marriage then with friendship?”

Garrett pushed himself to his feet and came forward. “I think it’s a hell of an idea. You two will make wonderful parents.”

He enfolded Lauren in an embrace. Cole heard her murmur her thanks to her brother. “I think you’ll make a wonderful uncle.”

Charlotte was next in line. She kissed Lauren’s cheek. “I’m so happy for you, sweetie. When’s the big day?”

“In a couple of weeks,” Cole said. “As soon as we can arrange everything.”

Lauren’s parents, Robert and Grace, also extended their congratulations. If they had reservations, they kept them to themselves.

Only his mother remained in her seat, staring at them in disbelief. Cole sat next to her. “What do you want to say, Ma?”

“You can’t replace Billy.” She choked out the words.

“I know that.” He’d known he was second best in her eyes all his life. “I wouldn’t even try.”

“But to marry his wife, to raise his child? It’s wrong. They don’t belong to you. You always wanted what belonged to your brother.”

He wanted to shout at her that the baby was his, that it had nothing to do with Billy. And Lauren was his, too. He’d loved her first. His brother had never appreciated what a gem he’d had in her. He’d squandered his marriage the way he’d squandered the love that had been lavished on him all his life, from his parents, from Lauren, and even from him.

Instead he pressed his lips together and said nothing. He felt a hand on his shoulder, and saw that Lauren stood beside him.

“I know this is difficult for you, Ella. I know you’re grieving. But I have to raise my child in the best way I know how. Aside from my brother and sister, Cole is my best friend in the world. He’s a good man, and I know he’ll be a wonderful father. You should be very proud of him.”

His mother stared at Lauren as if she couldn’t believe what she was saying. Her face twisted. “Don’t you miss Billy at all? Don’t you grieve for him? Nobody understands. Nobody.”

“Ma.”

He said the word a little sharper then he’d intended, but at least it got her attention. She looked up at him in surprise.

“I’m sorry if it hurts you, but Lauren and I are getting married. We care about one another and we care about the baby. The three of us are going to be a family. I wish you could be happy for us.”

Ella dabbed at her eyes with a tissue. Finally, with a shuddering breath, she turned to look at him.

“For Billy’s baby’s sake, I’ll try.”

Billy’s baby.

The pain was swift and unexpected. If she’d stabbed him through the heart with a dagger it wouldn’t have hurt as much.
