Excerpt:

Beth fanned herself with a napkin, giving an exaggerated sigh. “If only I was fifteen years younger and twenty pounds lighter, I’d be all over the good doctor.”

Julia laughed. “Aren’t you forgetting something? Or someone? You know, Marty? The guy you go home to every night?”

“Marty?” Beth pretended to think about the question. “The name does sound vaguely familiar.”

“It should. You’ve only been married to him for the last twenty years.”

“What can I say? A pretty face like Alex Campbell’s can turn the head of even the most devoted wife.”

Bio:

When Jana Richards read her first romance novel, she immediately knew two things: she had to commit the stories running through her head to paper, and they had to end with a happily ever after. She also knew she’d found what s_MG_7506email-Jana Richardshe was meant to do. Since then she’s never met a romance genre she didn’t like. She writes contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and historical romance set in World War Two, in lengths ranging from short story to full length novel. Just for fun, she throws in generous helpings of humor, and the occasional dash of the paranormal. Her paranormal romantic suspense “Seeing Things” was a 2008 EPPIE finalist.

In her life away from writing, Jana is an accountant/admin assistant, a mother to two grown daughters, and a wife to her husband Warren. She enjoys golf, yoga, movies, concerts, travel and reading, not necessarily in that order. She and her husband live in Winnipeg, Canada with their Pug/Terrier cross Lou and several unnamed goldfish. Sophie drew in her lips, as her gaze drifted past him to the window. She took a few deep breaths, inwardly calming herself. Nothing had ever been easy in her life.
“Why isn’t the partner here?”
“Retired.”
As she pondered on his reply for a moment, she began to imagine what life could be like with this inheritance.
Different. And better.
Another sigh escaped as she returned her gaze to the man behind the desk. “You can’t leave your assets to just anybody, can you?”
“Miss Lever—”
“Levesque,” she helped him.
Their eyes met.
“Are you refusing the bequest?” he asked hesitantly, and she clearly noticed how one of his eyebrows arched upward.
Staring blankly with her mouth open, panic rushed through her veins with every thump of her erratic heartbeat. An uncomfortable silence fell over them before she spoke with a rushed voice, “No. No, of course not. We’re accepting.”

Blog Tour: J. Rose Allister “Dominus, God of Yule” #Giveaway @jroseallister

A smoking hot god during the wintry chill of Yule

Dominus: God of Yule
Book 1 of the Sons of Herne series
Available on digital booksellers July 2016*

Loving Lorayna could cost him his sacred power…
It is the time of Yule, and Dominus, god of the sabbat, should never have had to spend half the year nurturing the latest light bearer himself. Now, months of visiting Lorayna, present only as a whisper, has sparked a yearning inside of him that he cannot shake.
Lorayna has felt herself drawn to the pagan path by a presence she has been unable to resist. When she discovers her “holiday spirit” is in fact a mouthwateringly gorgeous god, she’s ready for whatever sabbat ritual he chooses. To her disappointment, his intentions are strictly hands-off.
Giving up her light is not as easy as surrendering to his will, however. Dominus is forced to break the rules and give into his urges before the Yule power consumes her from within. The ripples of their passion will alter many sabbat unions to come—and Dominus must defy his father, Herne, to follow his desires and prove to Lorayna that she was not merely another light bearer.

Excerpt (modified slightly to PG-13):
“There you are again,” Lorayna said in a faint whisper. “I feel you.”
Dominus blinked and stepped back, his heart racing most unnaturally for a god. She could not see him, of that he was certain. She felt him, though, and that was both possible and necessary for the light bearer, for she would be cognizant enough to give consent. Really, any human who was enough in tune with their surroundings could sense the energy of an immortal’s presence. For her to speak aloud of it, though, to speak to him—that was most unusual.
True, he had been around Lorayna quite a bit—more than was perhaps necessary. But what could he do? Her light burned so bright, and greater light needed greater nurturing. He’d come to her weekly, as was traditional, and then twice weekly. Then three times. Perhaps she would have managed well enough without him at her side almost daily by the end. Dominus, on the other hand, hadn’t fared as well when they were apart. She would linger in his thoughts, distracting him from the mundane tasks of the day.
His back was pressed to the bathroom wall now, and yet she kept staring over her shoulder. She set the brush down on her gleaming white counter and turned.
“What is that I feel?” she asked. “What are you?”
He glanced over at the bath, which was at risk of overfilling now, the steaming water rising higher along the sleek sides of the tub. Lorayna was sniffing the air, her delicate nose uplifted to try and catch his scent. He swallowed when she took a step closer.
“Maybe it’s just the holiday spirit,” she whispered.
Lorayna turned away, and he let out a breath. A holiday spirit indeed.
When she left the room, he didn’t follow, but just stood there watching the water continue to rise toward the edge. Had he disrupted her focus to the point where she would forget the bath until the water spilled out over the floor? Would he dare risk moving to intervene before it did? He moved closer, weighing the decision. She might become frightened, disturbing her inner light and the mood necessary to bring it forth, if she thought some “holiday spirit” had shut off her bathwater.
The light switch snapped off, and the room fell into darkness. Not complete darkness, however. Loryana stood in the doorway, bearing a single white candle. She set the candle on the counter and twisted her hair up into a bun on her head, revealing the slender grace of her long neck. Unable to help himself, he moved closer, inhaling her scent, basking in the light within her and the heat of her creamy skin. He wanted her to feel his touch, a most unsavory thought for the sabbat keeper to entertain in the middle of his ritual.
Still standing there in the glowing candlelight, bright enough for him to see her dark eyes focused on a spot very near his own, Lorayna frowned. “I can’t do this,” she said, wrapping the towel tighter around herself. “Something’s not right.”
Dominus gaped at her. Never before had a consenting female refused to give up her light. No human could contain the light of the universe within her indefinitely. A weight hit his stomach as he contemplated what it would mean for his beauty to deny herself that release. He had to prevent it.
“There’s something here,” she went on in a slow whisper. “What is it? Who is it?”
His pulse fluttered. That was one thing he should not do, not even to save her from herself. While some of his brothers appeared human enough to move freely in this realm, mating however they chose, he was not one of them.
“Please,” she whispered, and the request speared through him. “I need to know I’m not crazy. I need to know I’m not just imagining that this holiday season is different.”
Guilt clutched at his stomach at the angst in her voice.
“I never even celebrated the Solstice before,” she went on, “but here I am, talking to thin air while burning a Yule log and leaving out offerings of food and wine. It is you that I sense, isn’t it? The one I left that offering for. You’ve been watching over me.”
He resisted the urge to clear his throat, for while she might not be able to see him, she would hear any sound he made.
“But then it can’t be you,” she went on. “I was silly enough to go out there just now and check the mantle I grabbed the candle from. My offering is still sitting there untouched.” A tiny laugh escaped her. “What did I expect? There isn’t really a holiday spirit. Or maybe the offering wasn’t good enough?” She let out a breath and stared down at the bathwater, which was glistening in candlelight. “Or I’m not good enough.”
She reached for the towel, but before she could pull it free, he stepped forward. “Wait. Don’t.”

About the Sons of Herne series:
The god Herne has appointed eight of his most virile, headstrong sons as keepers of the pagan holidays. To honor their sabbat, each must join with a mortal female in a ritual to maintain the balance between worlds.
The Fates have secretly conspired to grant the gods one thing they lack–a true union of male and female that will last beyond the passion of a sabbat joining.
Herne’s sons will wrestle with the conflict between sacred duty and their own yearnings, a struggle that will not only challenge their beliefs, but may threaten the success of rituals that must be observed lest the mortal and immortal worlds collide in chaos.

J. Rose Allister has penned over twenty-five novels and numerous short stories from her home in Southern California, including ten publisher bestsellers. She is a TV and movie buff, enjoys the bittersweet discord between obsessing over chocolate while striving for the benefits of a fresh, organically-influenced diet, and is a firm believer that daydreaming, people watching, and yes, chocolate are the greatest fuel for the writing imagination. That and coffee. Or coffee with chocolate stirred into it. She has more books in her to-be-read pile than she can ever hope to find time to sit and enjoy, but this never stops her from adding more.

But when his ‘fiancée’ helps deliver a baby in the middle of the meet and greet, it’s a bit of a shock. Perfectly Honest Excerpt

Mikaela woke with a start to the sound of voices. Disoriented, in unfamiliar surroundings, she looked down at her short shorts and loose shirt covered with spatters of paint. Painting, of course. She must have fallen asleep in the chair, and checking her watch, she saw that it was two o’clock in the morning. Shit. She rubbed her eyes and yawned. Pulling herself out of the chair, she listened to the voices. One voice was female, sounding impatient and unhappy and one male, sounding apologetic and resigned.
“I know it’s not ideal, Sophia, but it’s what I want. I’m tired of the large city, the tertiary care center, and all the politics. I’m tired of all the meetings and all the committees. I want a smaller hospital in a smaller city. I want a life.”
“Nonsense, Sam,” the woman shot back. “You don’t know what you want or what’s good for you. You need to pay your dues now to reap the benefits later.”
“Look, I don’t expect you to understand. I’m grateful you’ve agreed to help me out, but . . . ”
Mikaela wandered into the hallway and stopped when she saw the two of them at the front door. The woman had unbuttoned her coat, and as she put her hands on her hips, there was a flash of the red cocktail dress she wore underneath. The man was a foot taller and wearing a suit. A very nice fitting suit, Mikaela mused, as she came up behind him.
The woman noticed Mikaela first, and her startled gasp had the man looking over his shoulder. Mikaela wasn’t sure who looked more shocked, the man, who moved to shield the woman, or the woman, who raked her gaze over Mikaela from head to toe. As Mikaela fought the urge to straighten her shirt and fix her hair, she decided, definitely, the woman.
The woman’s eyes narrowed, the hands on her hips became clenched at her sides, and her face flushed red. Mikaela held her breath.
The woman pushed at the man’s shoulder and spun him around to face her. “Why you! You! ‘I can’t invite you in, the house is being painted,’” she mimicked. “Is that the new code word for ‘mistress?’ You could have just told me we were through. Well, I’m done. This is the last straw. You pig!” The woman spun on her heel and wrenched the door open.
“Sophia, wait!”
“No, wait,” Mikaela added. She lurched forward, now wide-awake.
The woman stormed out and slammed the door.
The man turned to Mikaela. “Who the hell are you?”

~~  New Beginnings ~~
(2nd Edition)
by Iris Blobel

The story is set in Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, the most southern state in Australia. A most beautiful place. I went there a few years back and imagined how it would be to live in this city, how to adapt as a “non-local”, and bit by bit I wrote the story of two sisters moving there.

Obviously, I added a little romance into the story as well – so I added Mark and Zach.

This is the second edition of NEW BEGINNINGS.

The story is now a bit sexier and has also received another edit.

“Other people have to fight battles in their life as well.”

Only $1.99

Today’s hook

3D-Little Beginnings Jeri’s gaze went to his hand on her arm and she was momentarily startled by her body’s reaction to his touch. Then she yanked back. “I don’t drink.”
Ely raised a curious brow.
Closing her eyes for small instant, she took a deep breath before she apologised. “Sorry. I’m having a bit of a rough time at the moment.”
He nodded “We all have them.”
She looked around herself. “Thanks for covering up the floor and the furniture.”
Lifting his shoulder in a shrug, he said  nonchalantly, “It was the magic of the wand.”
Why was she surprised that he made her laugh again?
“Considering that you don’t believe in magic, you use it quite a bit.”
He chuckled and good grief, even that simple sound made her quiver.
“The customer is king.”
Hands on hips, eyebrows arched, she said, “Do I look like a man?”
Ely grabbed his keys and held them up. “Now heading to the hardware store.”
Jeri stared at the door through which her carpenter had left. She was so taken
aback by the fact he’d never replied that her jaw was still open.
Then she heard him call from down the hallway. “Only a fool would mistake you
for a man.”

 Blurb:
A blind date that doesn’t happen might lead to love.
After her divorce, Jeri Belmont moved to Hobart and now runs a successful art gallery. When her niece sets her up with a neighbour, Jeri expects a blind date like all the others. But she never expected her date wouldn’t even sow up because of
her age. Despite feeling unjustly judged, when she unexpectedly runs into him
again, she finds it hard to ignore Ely’s charm.
Ely Lennox knows he shouldn’t have skipped the blind date because of the lady’s
age. After all, it had only been a date, not a lifetime commitment. When his carpentry business takes him right to the woman he bailed out on, his guilt
turns into regret when he finds out she’s everything a man could hope for. How
can he convince Jeri he made a big mistake?
Will she forgive him? Or is she hiding behind something else?

Little Beginnings by Iris Blobel is a wonderful love story about a 38 year old woman who learns to trust a man again, and who comes to realise that there is no obstacle two people in love can’t overcome. I also really enjoyed the secondary characters who were a memorable addition to the story, and I loved the humourous dialogue, the story’s emotional depth, and the engaging plot. This is a character driven story which I loved from beginning to end and I’m sure you will too!

I’d like to introduce you to one of my earlier books. I received my rights back after three wonderful years with a publisher, and it’s now time to fly solo. The book will be out late July. If you’re interested in helping spreading the word, please let me know. I’d appreciate it.
The story is set in Hobart, Tasmania, where Sophie and Mia have inherited a house – from a stranger.

accent-clipart-13309573511112670181decorative-lines-2_large

Only a week earlier, Sophie had received the call from Mr. O’Connor telling her about an inheritance. Initially, she’d thought it had been a horrible joke when he’d given her details on where to pick up airplane tickets to Hobart. It was important for her to come, he’d explained. Some legality she hadn’t understood. Something about her having to sign documents for the transfer of ownership of some assets. It’d sounded too farfetched at the start, but after some research on the firm with the help of a friend, it sounded valid, and she’d hoped her life was finally turning around for the better.
Mr. O’Connor let out a long sigh. “Ms. Bellinger was one of the partner’s clients. I was only given the details shortly after the client’s death.”
