Author: Elora Nicole Ramirez
Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Curious Obsession:

One moment Juniper Reese existed, and the next she vanished into thin air.

This is how it feels for Lavender, her twin, when she receives the call that Juniper didn’t show up to her job one morning. Still adjusting to Juniper’s cross-country move to run from the ghosts of their mother’s death, Lavender knows something is wrong — but she also knows her sister is still alive.

As she follows Juniper’s footsteps in an unfamiliar town, she begins to uncover a plot that seems to suggest her sister was being stalked before her disappearance. Now it’s on her to find Juniper before time runs out and convince those around her that her disappearance wasn’t an attempt to “get away.”

What she doesn’t know is that she’s being watched by someone who just realized perfection came twice. He begins to hone in on Lavender, his attention never satisfied until he can have them both for himself.

Will Lavender be able to find her sister before time runs out?

Or will she be the next target in an obsession gone wrong?

About the Author:

Elora Ramirez has always been a word girl.

It started when she was four, when she taught herself how to read and write as a way to entertain herself while her grandmother kicked and danced in aerobics class. She cut her teeth on books from Dr. Seuss and writing anywhere she could find the space — including her Fischer Price kitchenette, the pages of picture books, and Highlights Magazines.

She’s matured a bit since then, now choosing to write in the margins of her books and on the mirrors of her bathroom ideas and thoughts surrounding story and what makes us human. By day she leads a team at a tech company, waking up before the sun rises to get in her love for words before stepping into her role of helping others see the plot line of their own story under development.

Intuition and beauty get her through the day, as well as her chef-husband and their little lion son. Curious Obsession is her fourth novel.

Happy Sunday
I’ve returned to an old manuscript which I started years and years ago.
The story is about Sadie who’s found her mother’s diary, which will eventually take her on a journey to Germany.
… she’s just landed in Singapore …

And again, I notice how he takes my hand and like an old couple we wander past tired and excited faces. Past countless of little shops and eateries. Until we finally settle on a little café.

The ice tea is soothing as it makes its way down my throat. I’m enjoying the cold drink more than I would’ve thought. All I did during the last flight was drink water, but this… this is… this has taste to it. I order another one.

“Didn’t you get anything to drink during the flight?”

Nodding, I reply. “I did, but I can’t stand plain water.”

Mathias takes a sip of his coffee and then looks at me. It’s the look I’ve got used to over the last, wow, I’ve known him for about four hours now. Quickest date ever. Anyway, he looks at me and I’m glad I’m sitting down, because otherwise, my legs would probably buckle underneath me.

“So Sadie. What makes you go to Frankfurt?”

The waitress comes with my ice tea and I take a sip first before I nonchalantly reply, “Grandma’s diary.”

This week’s hook …

TOUCH ME

by Iris Blobel

And then there was the mother, who despite her shortness of breath and the obvious lack of fitness looked still incredible and that did something to him, which he wasn’t sure how to handle or even interpret.

The mother. He didn’t even know her name.

Holding out his hand, he said, “Jesse Parker. Nice meeting you.”

She looked up at him, and a slow smile spread across her face, but she ignored his hand. “Nice meeting you, too. More than nice, if I may say so. I’m Lexie and this is my daughter Zoe.”

Sliding his hand into his pants pocket, he turned to look at Zoe and said with a wink, “I’m not lecturing you, but please promise me not making a habit out of stopping strange cars.”

The girl nodded enthusiastically. “I promise.”

“Okay. Let’s get this roadkill off the road and then get you back to your car.” Jesse helped Lexie and her daughter into the car and then slid behind the steering wheel. While he started the engine, he considered starting a conversation, but decided against it. Nothing personal, but it’d been a busy day already, and he was too tired to come up with anything to say. They drove quietly along the forest road. It didn’t take him long until he located the dead kangaroo farther up the path. Shaking his head, he knew straight away it was a hit and run incident, with the driver leaving without moving the animal. He slowed and parked in front of it.

And when her husband shows up in the small coastal town creating chaos, all she can do is hang on and trust her new friends.

After his last girlfriend walked out on him, Jesse Parker is doing just fine on his own. Until his accidental meeting with single mother Lexie, when he rescues her and her daughter from getting lost in the forest. But when her past catches up with her, he is right in the middle of it all and it might ruin his career.

“Which flight are you on?”

“Oh!”

In one smooth move I have my backpack in front of me and dig into the front pocket. We glance over the flight details and find out we’re on the same plane to Frankfurt. When I look up to Mathias, he’s already looking around towards a big flight schedule board.

“Terminal 3, Gate B6,” he comments.

I follow his gaze and it takes me at least another minute or two to confirm what he’s just said.

“Don’t you trust me?” he asks me with a chuckle.

Heat rises up into my cheeks. “I do, but I am woman,” I reply.

His chuckle turns into one of those really nice laughter and I smile as well.

“C’mon cupcake. Let’s get this drink for you.”

This week’s hook …

TOUCH ME

by Iris Blobel

The Ranger held up his hand. “Lady from the bakery?”

Lexie gave a slow nod.

“I have a good idea where your car is.” He looked at Zoe and then to Lexie again. “I’ve had a call, though, regarding a road kill which I have to check out first.”

The notion to hop into a stranger’s car was a bit worrisome and not the ideal solution, ranger or not, but it looked like the only way to get back to town.

Use GPS next time. Lesson learnt.

* * * *

Jesse Parker scratched the back of his neck. The situation in front of him had so many things wrong with it. The fact that the young girl had stopped him in his car in the middle of nowhere didn’t sit well with him, but on the flipside, he was glad she had, because organising a search party wouldn’t have been on his favourite things to do for a Friday afternoon either. God only knew whether anybody would’ve noticed that they’d been gone for a while, considering they were new in town. He made a mental note to ask Melody about the two. She’d given them the directions to the Cook Waterfall carpark; he was sure she’d know a little more about them.

Thank goodness, I’m in charge of my faculties again. At least some of them. “Mathias, I need to check my connection flight.”

He stops so suddenly that I bump into him. Honestly, I have no idea how he can still smell so yummy after the flight. I’m hoping that my little bit of vanilla body lotion and the perfume are still working.

Momentarily distracted by checking his bag, Mathias doesn’t notice that I look around to orientate myself. A brief rush of panic rises as I’m aware that I’m following a stranger in a strange country. Thousands of What ifs are racing through my mind, when he holds a piece of paper in front of me. First thing I read is Mathias Ciaran Cavendish. Confused about the name, I don’t hear what he’s telling me. The pronunciation of Mathias sounded so German, or at least not English, but Ciaran and Cavendish couldn’t be any more Irish. In my opinion anyway. I tilt my head to look at him. His face is very close to mine. He’s actually staring at me with a raised brow.
