#MFRWHooks “I wouldn’t have a clue.” #MFRWOrg #Beginnings #romancenovel #amreading

Happy Wednesday everyone.

I thought I’d go back to my first series “Beginnings“. Some of you might not know it, so hopefully you’ll enjoy it just as much as you enjoyed the “Alinta Bay” Stories

Today’s Hook:

Sophie Levesque stared at the attorney in front of her, waiting for some answers. She and her little sister, Mia, had been quietly sitting in Mr. O’Connor’s office for more than half an hour, learning about the details of their inheritance.
Once he was finished, silence hung in the air before she asked with raised eyebrows. “Who?”
“Clara Catherine Bellinger.”
Mia leaned closer to her elder sister and gave a soft tug on Sophie’s shirt. “Who is she?”
Sophie shrugged. “I wouldn’t have a clue.” Then turned her attention back on Mr. O’Connor and asked the same thing. “Who is she?”

BLURB:

The chance to start life all over with the help of a stranger.

Twenty-two-year-old Sophie Levesque has been guardian to her eight-year-old sister Mia since their mother’s death a few years ago, and it hasn’t been easy. Luck comes their way when they inherit a small house in Hobart. Problem is, though, they don’t know and have never heard of Clara Bellinger, the testator. Settling into their new life, Sophie is still afraid it’s all a mistake.

Mark O’Connor, attorney in Hobart and the bearer of the good news for Sophie and Mia, curses himself for the lack of information about the testator. However, researching the questions gives him an opportunity to see Sophie again, and the more time he spends with the two, the more he realises that his life is missing something. And it’s not his casual lover Linda.

But then there’s Zach, Sophie’s sexy neighbour from across the road… and a very good friend of Clara’s.

Will unravelling the mystery unravel Sophie and Mark’s promise of a future?

“This blood-pumping novel will keep the reader hooked until the very end.” InD’tale Magazine

“Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this wonderful book and fall in love.” (5 star review)

Mat is a sexy, tattooed New Zealander with a strong sense of family and duty and Tiffany is a woman with a past that continues to haunt her. Can Mat help her overcome her demons and move on with the next phase of her life? Come for the romance and stay for the breathtaking scenery. (5 star review)

4 stars – NEW BEGINNINGS is a very emotional read, one that is heartwarming as well as heart wrenching. It gives you hope in the act of human kindness and that good things do happen to good people. I highly recommend this book.

Happy Sunday.
I’m moving on to another WIP. It’s just an idea at the moment, so bear with me for the first few posts.
Enjoy ♥

Today’s Snippet

Placing a hand on Hannah’s arm, Liz suggested, “How about you choose the book for next month’s meeting?”
Well, she’d just kicked herself in the butt. How on earth would she be able to choose a book when she’d dislike more or less any of the books they’d read so far. Why on earth was she even here?
So she wasn’t stuck alone at home.
“Any genre?” she asked.
Although wary, the women around her nodded.
“Okay, I can do that. I suppose it should be available in the library.”
Again, everyone agreed.
“And you’d like to have the suggestion by Tuesday?”
“Yes, please,” Liz replied.
Hannah had no idea, why she was going on with this farce, but she promised her parents to get to know the people in Fermosa Bay, a small coastal town in Victoria, where she only moved recently for her to take over the small medical centre. She promised her family to make friends. And she promised her mother to be nice to men.
Well, she did make that promise with her fingers crossed behind her back.

Eternal Curse
Kara Leigh Miller
(The Cursed Series, #1)
Publication date: Sept 15th 2020
Genres: Paranormal, Romance, Young Adult

After pulling the plug on her mother’s life support, seventeen-year-old Chloe Madison moves to live with relatives she hardly knows. Her new hometown in the Adirondack Mountains is barely more than a pinpoint on the map, but it’s shrouded in deadly secrets and strange family legends. Chloe is determined to keep her head down, finish high school, and get the heck out of there. Until she meets the enigmatic Trent Halstead. Something intriguing hides beneath his quiet self-assurance and hero hair. Maybe there’s something—or someone—worth sticking around for after all.

But when a rash of unsolved murders leaves two of Chloe’s classmates dead, she begins to suffer from disturbing hallucinations that build to the horrifying image of Trent as a murderous vampire. With nowhere else to go, she’s stuck in a town she hates, surrounded by people she can’t trust, and she’s pretty sure she’s going to be lunch.

If all that isn’t bad enough, Trent is hiding a lethal secret, besides the whole immortal bloodsucker thing. He’s the not-so-proud owner of an ancient, family curse—no Halstead will ever know true love—and he’s desperate to find a way to break the curse. Could Chloe be the key to his happiness or just another secret Trent wished he never unlocked?

EXCERPT:

He hopped out of the truck and was around to my side with the door open before I even had my seatbelt unhooked.

“Everything all right?” He tucked his cell phone into his pocket, concern blanketing his face.

“Yeah. Why?”

“You were frowning pretty intently.”

“Oh.” It was sweet how he was so worried. “Guess the heat is getting to me,” I said with a faint smile. The temperature must have jumped twenty degrees while we were at Trent’s house.

Trent put his hand on my forehead like he was checking me for a fever. The stark contrast of his cool hand against my heated skin made me shiver.

“You are pretty hot.” He winked.

I laughed. “That’s a horrible line.”

He raised a brow and lightly dragged his fingers down the side of my face, stopping to cup my cheek, making the hairs on my arms stand on edge. I looked into his crystal-clear eyes and held my breath. His mouth was so close, and I wanted nothing more than to feel his lips on mine. Why wouldn’t he just kiss me already?

“Do you trust me?” His voice was soft, almost hesitant.

“Yes.”

It amazed me how quickly and easily I said that—and how much I meant it. I barely knew him, but deep down in the darkest corners of my soul, I knew he would never hurt me. I didn’t know how I knew that, but I did.

Slowly, Trent closed the distance between us. His lips pressed against mine, featherlight and much too quick. In the split second when our lips connected, I was hit with a wave of intense longing that had my knees shaking. And then in the next moment, he straightened and moved away from me.

Trent cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck. “Sorry.”

#MFRWHooks “… she thought she’d been a free spirit” #MFRWOrg #Romance #Books #amreading

Happy Wednesday everyone.
BETWEEN GOODBYE AND HELLO is the 3rd and last book in
the Alinta Bay series
The ebook available on AMAZON for 99c .
If you’re a KU subscriber, please take a moment to check out the first two books in the series: “DEFYING RULES” and “TELL IT TO MY HEART”

Today’s Hook:

Her gaze went out the window to the sea, and she heard Lisa’s reprimand only in the distance. Enjoying the scenery of the waves coming and going, she let her mind wander. She loved it here in Alinta Bay. She’d fallen in love with the small coastal town last year, but had obviously not been ready for the life in a small community. For the care and kindness amongst the people. Arriving here, she thought she’d been a free spirit. Live and let live. Come and go, and the pieces would eventually fall into place.
How wrong she’d been. There was no doubt she’d been careless and selfish.
Closing her eyes, she thought of her grandmother, who’d passed away only a few months earlier. At the same time, she’d received the news that’d changed her life. Gently tugging at the sleeves of her jumper, she tried hard to keep her composure. This wasn’t the right place or the right time to explain her reasons to return to Alinta Bay. Although it was as simple as she wanted to try to start again and wasn’t able to think of a better place than this one.
“I’m sorry for your loss.”

BLURB:

Can two seemingly incompatible people who judge each other on past events be able to find some common ground?

Harrison Hendrix believes in second chances, but when it comes to Melody, he has every reason to doubt it’s possible. He’s conflicted when he sees her back in town and tries his best to see the change in her that other friends mention. Even more so when spending a night with her after being set up for a dinner date.

Life hasn’t been kind to Melody Foster, and she returns to Alinta Bay for a new beginning. Hit by tragedy again, she’s determined to live life to the fullest and with no regrets. She creates a bucket list … on which #8 the very difficult, yet extremely sexy Harrison has been included. Why does it seem he’s always around when she’s in trouble?

Maybe it’s time to take a risk and leave the past where it belongs, but will trusting their instinct be the right choice for them?

Hannah Wood looked around the room, watching the other five women as the group discussed the latest crime story by some up-and-coming new English author. She’d taken weeks to get through the book, bored from the very start, knowing the murderer from around page twenty five.
She listened as the debate was becoming heated whether or not the story was at all plausible and why on earth there was a sex scene in it all and was it really necessary. If yes, it could’ve easily been cut to two or so pages.
Heat crept up into Hannah’s recalling that part of the book. Unlike everybody else, it’d been one of the few parts she’d liked about the book.
She rolled her eyes. She needed to get a life.
“Hannah.”
Hauled back from her reverie, she stared at Liz, her friend hosting the book club tonight. “I’m sorry. I got distracted.”
Liz shook her head. “You didn’t like the book, did you?”
More heat shooting into her cheeks. “No. No, not … not at all,” she stuttered. “It … it was okay … ‘ish.”
Debbie stood and reached for her jacket on her seat. “Hannah, honestly. What are you doing here if you do not like any of the books we’re reading?”
The others got up as well, so Hannah followed. “No, I like the idea of reading something different every month. Otherwise I wouldn’t read at all.”
Placing a hand on Hannah’s arm, Liz suggested, “How about you choose the book for next month’s meeting?”

Today’s Hook:

Melody Foster could feel Harrison’s stare on her as he leaned against the kitchen bench and some discomfort trickled down her spine, leaving her self-conscious.
Lisa stepped closer to the table. “You remember Harrison, don’t you, Melody?”
Not able to take her eyes off him, she simply nodded. He hadn’t changed and still looked as sexy as a when she’d lived here with his tangle of brown hair like a surfer, piercing green eyes, and a few freckles on his face, which made him look ridiculously and boyishly handsome at the same time. But the expression on his face was serious. Not even a twitch of his lips.
Lisa’s words startled her. “I’m not sure, though, what happened to his manners today. I apologise.” She glared at her son.
Melody met Harrison’s green eyes. “Nice to see you again.”
“I’m not sure I can say the same.”

#SnippetSunday “Just have a stinking headache.” #Romance #Sundayblog #mustread

Happy Sunday. I’m continuing with my WIP, another Alinta Bay story.
Jonah and Maddie are still stuck in the lift.
Enjoy ♥

“I need to get out of her.” <Maddie>
“Hey Jonah?”
He moved towards the dashboard. “Yes, mate?”
“They’ll open the second floor door, which should be just above you. There won’t be much room to get out, but enough. I’ve also arranged for some medics. It’s going to be noisy in a few minutes. Are you able to move to the far back of the lift?”
Jonah nodded, realising that the guy couldn’t see him and added, “Will do.”
Exhausted, he carefully shifted Maddie a little further to the back. It’d been an intense half an hour already and he’d only arrived last night. He sat next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, drawing her closer, secure, and, yes, giving him some comfort as well.
“It’s just a matter of minutes now,” he told her, hoping like hell it’d be true.
She placed her hand on his chest and he took it into his own. “I’m okay’ish,” she told him. “Just have a stinking headache.”
“Should I give you a kiss better? My mum always suggested that when I got hurt.”
Carefully and very slowly, she tilted her head towards him, meeting his gaze and something inside of him shifted. Something stirred.
“Jonah?”
“Hmm.”
“I’m usually not so straight forward, but then again, I haven’t ended up in a man’s arms within only forty-five minutes, but would you have … would you like … would you—”
“Take you for dinner?”
