#SnippetSunday “It looked so peaceful.” #Sundayblogshare #Romance

Happy Sunday ♥
I hope you’re enjoying my latest WIP which is set near
Lake Tekapo, New Zealand.
Enjoy ♥

Knowing she wasn’t able to go anywhere else, she placed her backpack on the floor and went in search for a glass. She was desperate for a drink. She liked the cabin style kitchen. Running her hand over the wooden bench, she looked out the window into the near darkness, still rattled by it all. There were about half a dozen cups on hooks at the wall, hanging from a shelf that had beautiful storage container for sugar, coffee, and tea. All underneath another shelf with a vast choice of herbs and spices. Lani grabbed a cup and a teabag as she imagined cleaning the dishes while enjoying the view across the mountains and the lake. It looked so peaceful. She blew out a breath and went in search for a kettle. The frying pans hung on hooks as well above the stove. The pots were next to it on shelves as well. It was such a contrast to her grandmother’s small kitchen. Big and small plates were neatly stacked underneath it and right behind them was an old fashioned red stove kettle. She reached for it to fill it with some water, but not before she went half way up the stairs, which was right beside it all.
“Hello?”
“Welcome.”
Lani shot around, in the fright dropping the kettle which fell down the stairs, the noise echoing through the house like thunder.
“Mr Larson?”

~Once you’re in a prison gang, you’re in it for life. ~ “Arresting Mason” by @AmberDaulton1 – @WildRosePress

Arresting Mason
by Amber Daulton

Series: Arresting Onyx (book 1)
Publisher: The Wild Rose Press

Their chance encounter resulted in a steamy affair,
but will his former gang and a parole officer tear them apart?

Blurb

Once you’re in a prison gang, you’re in it for life.
That’s what Mason Harding thought until the boss accepted his resignation. After the State releases him on parole, a sexy divorcée behind the wheel of a car almost ends his life quicker than a shank. His chance encounter with Mia Eddison results in a night of passion, but her brother—his parole officer—catches them together and doesn’t approve.
Mia falls hard for the cocky ex-con, but not because of his chiseled body. She vows to break through his walls and discover his secrets, but never expects those secrets to threaten her life.
When members of an organized crime ring kidnap Mia to force Mason’s return to the gang, he goes up against an old friend to save the woman he loves. Will his sacrifice be enough or will everything fall apart in a blaze of gunfire?

Excerpt

“Which one is your car?” She glanced around the crowded parking lot. A few streetlights pushed back the darkness and shadows. The restaurant served customers until midnight on the weekends, but no one loitered in the lot, at least from what Mia could see.
“Don’t have one at the moment.” Mason hooked his thumbs in the belt loops of his jeans. “I took the bus. It stopped a few blocks from here.”
“Would you like a ride?” She pulled the car keys from her purse. “I feel a little ridiculous we met here tonight. I just wasn’t sure if you were some kind of freak.”
His eyebrow lifted, and he closed the distance between them as a tiger would zero in on its mate. A sexy, masculine smile curled his lips. “Have you made up your mind yet?”
“I’ll let you know in the morning.” Desire trickled down her spine. Mia nodded toward the passenger side of the car for him to hop in.
He confiscated her keys instead to unlock and open the driver’s side door for her like a gentleman. Then he leaned closer and nuzzled her temple with his nose.
Not sure if he planned to seduce her in the parking lot or if he merely wanted to tease her, Mia pressed her hand to his chest and tried to think straight. “You’re the first guy I’ve gone on a date with since my divorce. I haven’t slept with anyone since Evan.”
He tunneled his fingers through her wavy, chestnut-brown hair. “I haven’t dated anyone in a long time either. We’ll take it slow or fast, whatever you want, but I promise you one thing. After I’m done with you, you won’t even remember that bastard’s name.”
Oh, God. She almost melted right then and there. “Fast. I want you, Mason.”
“Take me to your place and you can have me.”

#MFRWHooks “I can’t believe you remembered.” #amreading #books #bookrecommendation

Happy Wednesday everyone.
I hope you enjoyed last week’s teaser and you got a copy of “Their Bond through Jade” at the special price of only 99c.
Today’s hook is from my very first book “Sweet Dreams, Miss England”.
ENJOY ♥

Today’s Hook:

As Beth woke up, she adjusted her eyes to the sunshine, which made itself comfortable in her bedroom. She looked outside and noticed the world was starting to breathe. Summer was close and the days were starting earlier, as well as getting warmer. She loved the sun crawling into her bedroom in the mornings and embracing her with its warm rays. Turning over, she looked at the letter which was now framed and on her bedside table. Live your sweet dreams it said. Beth smiled. Still deeply in her thoughts, she heard the phone ring. She glanced at the clock before she answered – it just had to be important at this time of the day.
“Happy Anniversary, Beth.”
Beth smiled when she heard her friend’s familiar voice. “Good morning. I can’t believe you remembered.”
“Of course I did. Who would have ever thought?”
“Yes, it’s strange how life sometimes works out.”
“We’re having dinner at my place tonight. Will you come as well?”
“I’ll be there. And thanks for remembering,” she replied just above a whisper and hung up.
Beth took the letter and held it close. It’d been a year already, she thought – and what a year it had been. She remembered each day so vividly as if it had only been yesterday.

BLURB:

Sometimes we meet people but not to share the rest of our lives with them, but merely for them to guide us onto a different path.
Set in London and Dublin we follow the life of Beth, a young mother of two who is married to Shane, an actor whose work requires him to be in Los Angeles. When Beth meets Daniel, a fun-loving, spontaneous man from Ireland, she realises how much joy and passion are missing from her marriage, and consequently her life. Beth is torn between her marriage to Shane and her love for this Irish charmer

“This blood-pumping novel will keep the reader hooked until the very end.” InD’tale Magazine

THEIR BOND THROUGH JADE

Happy Sunday ♥
I hope you’re enjoying my latest WIP which is set near
Lake Tekapo, New Zealand.
Enjoy ♥

She knocked again, worry creeping up within her. A thousand thoughts tumbled through her head. What if nobody was here? There was nowhere to go. A mix of frustration and anxiety caused a few tears as she knocked again. This time a bit harder. Still nothing. And not even a sound of creaking floorboards. Lani pulled the phone from her pocket, but there was no service whatsoever.
“Goddammit.”
In her anger she grabbed the door handle with the intend to let out her irritation only to find it was unlocked. Carefully, she opened the house and stepped inside.
“Hello?”
Did she really fall for a scam when she booked a room at this place? It had all looked so genuine.
“Hello?” She tried again, this time a bit louder, but still no reply.
Taking a couple of deep breaths trying to steady her heartbeat, she moved along the hall from door to door until she reached the kitchen.
“Hello?” Still no reply. She found the light switch and turned it on. Looking around, there was a lived in feeling, tidy and looked after, but nothing that would give her a clue as to where her host was.

I do appreciate each single one of them!

“Their Bond through Jade” 99c this week or FREE for KU subscribers

Happy Wednesday everyone.
The publisher pulled the stories from retailers quicker than I expected, so there won’t be any more snippets from the Australian Sports Stars Series until I made a decision what to do with the stories.
I know I have shared from “Their Bond through Jade” before, but the book’s on special this week and I’d like to share a teaser from on of my favourite scene.
ENJOY ♥

Today’s Hook:

After he disconnected the call, he opened the pack of chips and went back to the lounge room. His mouth edged up as he stared at the two camping chairs and the foldout table in the middle of the big room. It looked odd and reminded him that he had to buy some furniture sooner rather than later. He sat on the old camping chair, crossed his legs as he leaned back, and thought of Tiffany. His gaze drifted across the lake to the Remarkables, the mountain range along the shore. A sense of contentment spread through him.
You’re about the luckiest man in this world.
He fidgeted in the chair as he took a little box out of his pocket. With a flick of his thumb, he opened it and looked at the necklace in front of him. Carefully, he pulled the pikorua out of the small box and ran the necklace through his fingers. He’d come up with the idea when he’d rushed through the airport and saw the duty free shops. It hadn’t taken him long to figure out what to get her. The jade pikorua was a twist symbolising the strength of the bond between two people, and Mat was certain that there was something between Tiffany and him. He’d make sure to mail it the next day.
He reached over to the small camping table for his phone. Her number was already stored on the speed dial … and she answered after one ring. The relief at hearing her voice gave him an immediate lift.

BLURB:

When Tiffany Cahill opens the door to the police, memories flood her mind of the previous year and a relationship gone bad. Frightened, she calls her friend, Steve, for help, but instead a stranger answers the phone. Little does Tiffany know how much this New Zealander is going to impact her life, especially after she is assaulted only a few hours later.
Mat Apanui, the owner of a helicopter tour company in New Zealand, can’t ignore the worry in Tiffany’s voice when he answers Steve’s phone. Before he knows it, he is spending most of his business trip to Melbourne with her. Desperate to keep her safe after an attack, he invites her to stay with him in Queenstown, NZ.
With her safety at risk, how will Tiffany overcome her reservations and trust the sexy stranger enough to fly across the Tasman Sea?

♥♦♥  EXCERPT ♥♦♥

When Tiffany Cahill opened the door and laid eyes on the police officers, memories flooded back of the horrid day the year before when she’d been dragged to the police station. Everything inside her tensed as she checked the lever for the screen door to make sure it was locked. She rubbed her damp palms against her pants.
“Miss Cahill?” the male police officer asked, his dark brown eyes focussing on her.
Scared, she wasn’t able to find her voice, she bit her lip and simply nodded.
“Miss Tiffany Cahill?” the female, and younger, officer asked.
Tiffany nodded again. If she focussed on the officer’s flaming red hair beneath her cap, she wouldn’t have to meet her eyes. But she allowed herself a cautious peek at the officers’ faces.
Their expressions were unreadable, which was worrying.
“I’m Senior Constable Jones. This is Sergeant Harris.” The officer paused for a moment. “We would like to ask you a couple of questions in regard to Thomas Terrill.”
“Who?” Tiffany asked, hardly above a whisper. Her whole body shook, and she knew she had to sit down soon or she’d faint.
“Thomas Terrill,” Jones repeated. “He was up on charges last year for the possession of drugs. The file states you were involved—”
“There’s no way I’ll come with you.” Her voice was louder than intended, panic rising within her. “You can’t make me—”
“Miss Cahill,” Jones said with a calm voice.
“We’re not here to take you with us, but to ask you a few questions,” Sergeant Harris explained, pulling out a little notepad from his shirt pocket, opening it with an expert snap. “Is there anybody with you at home?”
Tiffany frowned as she shook her head. Anxiety raced through the pit of her stomach, and she had to resist the urge to step back to shut the door.
“Anybody you can call?”
His voice was soothing, and when Tiffany met his eyes through the screen door, she noticed something that conveyed trust. And there was a need inside her to trust him, yet every fibre in her told her to not open the door. Never again would she let the police take her to the station and treat her like a criminal.
She bit her lip again, desperate to figure out whom to call, when she replied, “My brother.”
Harris nodded. “Thomas Terrill was charged with possession of drugs last year. You are noted as a witness.” He paused, checked his little notepad, and continued, “He’s also known as Hudson Ford.”
Leaning her head against the door, Tiffany took a deep breath to steady herself.
“Are you okay, Miss Cahill?” Harris asked.
“Please open the door,” Jones requested.
Holding up her hand, Tiffany replied, “I haven’t seen him since last year. I have nothing to do with whatever trouble he’s in.” Her entire body trembled, anxiety rushing through her like a tidal wave. She took another two deep breaths before standing straight to meet Harris’ gaze.
He searched her eyes before he assented with a nod and held out a business card. “We need to talk to you. I can assure you you’re not in trouble, but we need your help.” He squeezed the card into the small gap of the doorframe. “This is my number. Please call in when you have somebody with you, and we can have a talk.”

#SnippetSunday “Why on earth was she here anyway?” #Sundayblogshare #Romance

Happy Sunday ♥
I hope you’re enjoying my latest WIP which is set near
Lake Tekapo, New Zealand.

And (she) walked along the road. It would’ve been so much better and less boring if she had charged her headphones.
So she walked. Occasionally looking over her shoulder, hoping for a car to come along. But then again, she promised her grandma she wouldn’t talk to strangers.
Why on earth was she here anyway?
To meet her father. It was enough incentive to keep going.
After a little more than an hour Lani was able to see the house in the distance. Relief rushed through her. She was thirsty and tired. And with the sun already setting over the mountains, it was about time to reach her destination. Although tempted to take another couple of pictures, she kept going.
She liked the house, despite being so far away from civilisation. It hadn’t looked that isolated on the map when she first looked for accommodation. But it was ideal and close to where she needed to go. Or in this case to find someone.
Lani stepped closer and onto the front porch. The quietness around was only disturbed by the sound of a few insects buzzing around. A shiver ran down her spine as she moved to the front door and knocked. There were no lights inside the house. It was still light, yet, she would’ve expected one or two lights on already inside.
