Happy Sunday.
I’m moving on to another WIP. It’s just an idea at the moment, so bear with me for the first few posts.
Enjoy ♥
Hannah Wood looked around the room, watching the other five women as the group discussed the latest crime story by some up-and-coming new English author. She’d taken weeks to get through the book, bored from the very start, knowing the murderer from around page twenty five.
She listened as the debate was becoming heated whether or not the story was at all plausible and why on earth there was a sex scene in it all and was it really necessary. If yes, it could’ve easily been cut to two or so pages.
Heat crept up into Hannah’s recalling that part of the book. Unlike everybody else, it’d been one of the few parts she’d liked about the book.
She rolled her eyes. She needed to get a life.
“Hannah.”
Hauled back from her reverie, she stared at Liz, her friend hosting the book club tonight. “I’m sorry. I got distracted.”
Liz shook her head. “You didn’t like the book, did you?”
More heat shooting into her cheeks. “No. No, not … not at all,” she stuttered. “It … it was okay … ‘ish.”
Debbie stood and reached for her jacket on her seat. “Hannah, honestly. What are you doing here if you do not like any of the books we’re reading?”
The others got up as well, so Hannah followed. “No, I like the idea of reading something different every month. Otherwise I wouldn’t read at all.”
Placing a hand on Hannah’s arm, Liz suggested, “How about you choose the book for next month’s meeting?”
Thanks for all your comments,
I do appreciate each single one of them!
