Happy Wednesday everyone.
This is my latest release
DEFYING RULES
which is currently on pre-order with the release date on 17 March 2020.
I hope you’ll enjoy today’s “hook”.

Today’s Hook:

The tears trickled down his cheeks now, his chest heaving as he cried silently. “Yes,” he commented on his cousin’s statement in a whisper, his voice almost breaking. “I thought she wouldn’t cope well. They’d always been close.”
Harrison was silent.
“Give me twenty minutes and I’ll meet you at Mum’s.”
“Sounds good. I’ll bring Kristen as well.”
As soon as he turned off the phone, a little moan from the back told him that Nick was stirring and waking.
Logan looked at the rear-view mirror. “We’re almost home, mate.”
Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, Nick sat up and scanned the area out of the window, probably to figure out where they were.
“We’re heading straight to—” Logan broke off; he’d been going to say Grandpa.
“Nan. Auntie Kristen and Harrison will be there. Are you hungry?”
The boy shook his head. That worried Logan, because his son hadn’t eaten anything decent for the whole day. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched Nick in the mirror looking up towards the ceiling, possibly throwing around all the questions he had regarding his grandpa’s heart attack the previous year and his recent death. It’d been something they’d discussed a lot while driving along the roads in Tasmania and it’d been a challenge for Logan to explain how the heart worked and why Grandpa had suffered a heart attack in the first place, explaining what death was and what happened afterwards. Where would people go? There were moments when Logan had wished for a second parent to share the task of clarifying the unknown, but he got through it. It helped Nick to know that Grandpa was now with his mother and Logan’s grandparents. Somewhere, wherever the place was where dead people went after leaving.

BLURB:

Sometimes one has to break rules in order to find happiness…

Widower Logan Hendrix is puzzled by the recent series of small crimes against his son’s new teacher. It’s a mystery to him, and he offers her his help. There’s an instant attraction, and Logan wants to take their parent/teacher relationship to a more personal level.

It doesn’t take Addison Ryker long to fall in love with Alinta Bay, the small town she’s moved to for her new teaching position at the local primary school. Her newfound haven is threatened, however, when her house is broken into and she is relying on the unbelievably stubborn but very sexy Logan for help. Although captivated by him, Addison worries her career could be compromised, because there are rules about dating a parent.

“This blood-pumping novel will keep the reader hooked until the very end.” InD’tale Magazine

“Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this wonderful book and fall in love.” (5 star review)

Mat is a sexy, tattooed New Zealander with a strong sense of family and duty and Tiffany is a woman with a past that continues to haunt her. Can Mat help her overcome her demons and move on with the next phase of her life? Come for the romance and stay for the breathtaking scenery. (5 star review)

4 stars – NEW BEGINNINGS is a very emotional read, one that is heartwarming as well as heart wrenching. It gives you hope in the act of human kindness and that good things do happen to good people. I highly recommend this book.

    1. A subject very close to home, i only lost someone very close recently and often wonder “where she is and whether she’s all right”. Interesting concept. I wasn’t quite so aware of it when I wrote the story.
      Thanks for stopping by, Ed!

  1. It’s difficult to explain death to those youngsters who haven’t seen it before. Nicely done.
