#SnippetSunday “Are you here for the reunion?” #freeread #Sundayblog #mustread

Happy Sunday. I’m continuing with my WIP, another Alinta Bay story. Jonah and Maddie are still stuck in the lift. I moved into Maddie’s POV today.
Enjoy ♥

“Okay,” she blurted. “I’m done with silence. Tell me, I can hear an accent. New Zealand.”
He cocked a brow.
“Well it’s there but at the same time it’s not.”
A soft chuckle escaped his lips, and although she tried hard to ignore it, she had to admit it affected the very core of her body. Everything was alert. She studied him through the dim light. It hadn’t been a lie when she described him as a nice specimen of a man, because he really was. His amber eyes sparkled in the semi darkness and his mouth held some amusement. Considering his confident and calm posture she assumed the situation didn’t nearly have the same effect on him as it did on her.
She let out a soft sigh. “I won’t shut up, you know, because I’m starting to struggle a little here.”
With only a few smooth moves he stood, stepped next to her, and sat again. He reached for her hand and took it in both of his. “I was born here in Alinta Bay but once I’d finished Year 12 we moved to Dunedin in New Zealand.”
Hardly able to focus on his words, she stared at their hands. She took in a deep breath, fully aware that their bodies were merely touching, yet the heat off his body penetrated through her clothes.
“Are you all right?”
She blinked a couple of times. “Yes, of course. As in, no, I told you, I’m struggling. Anyway…” She lifted her head and studied his face from the close distance. “Are you here for the reunion?”
