#MFRWHooks “Mate, what on earth is PedXing?” #romance #mustread #amreading

♠♠  OUT NOW  ♠♠

The 3rd book in the Beginnings series was released in October, and I’d love to get “you hooked” with some snippets.

Enjoy ☺

Today’s Hook:

Although unchanging, the scenery kept him interested. Yet, Jared was pleased when he finally made it to Vegas later that afternoon, and after driving around a little to get an idea of the city, he found an RV Park, and checked in. About to exit through the office door, he turned and asked the man who had served him, “Mate, what on earth is PedXing?”
The guy chuckled. “Short for pedestrian crossing,” he replied.
Jared let out a snort. “Yeah, I don’t think I would’ve guessed that one. I’m glad they told me to look for RV and not Caravan Park.”
With a little shake of his head, he waved his hand as a thanks and left, still chuckling about the PedXings abbreviation. A country speaking the same language and more or less having the same background, yet, being so different surprised him. But why? Why did it? After all, it’d been over two hundred years that each country had evolved in a different way.
Jared returned to his motorhome, drove to his allocated spot, and got ready for the night. It’d been a full, packed twenty-four hours, leaving him exhausted and tired. He was going to explore Sin City the next day.

BLURB:
Jared Fraser, a landscape business owner in Hobart, Australia, sets out for a holiday to the USA to travel along the Route 66 in a motorhome. Looking forward to his first holiday overseas, he’s excited as he prepares himself for the journey. But little could’ve prepared him for crossing paths with a beautiful hitchhiker.
Will he be able to put his past aside and grab onto happiness?
Ivy Bennett thought leaving her boyfriend would be the hard part. It doesn’t take long to figure out how wrong she was. As she struggles with making a new start in her life, the last person she expects to lead her to happiness is a laid-back Australian on vacation.
But she will have to say goodbye again. And not only to Jared.

“How about I take you home? I’m sure this wedding party is near its end and will possibly survive without you.”
“Promise me a hot chocolate?”
His body shook slightly as he held back his laughter. She assumed he was thinking of their holidays in the Swiss Alps as well.
A few years earlier, Markus had played for an English soccer club and invited her for a holiday in Switzerland. They’d spent a week in a wooden farm house just outside a small village, between massive snow-capped mountains. Wherever she’d looked were ski slopes or fields with cattle. It’d been divine. And after a long day outside, they’d sat down by the fire and drunk hot chocolate.
“C’mon, princess. I will make you a hot chocolate as well.”
She stood and saw Oliver come over. “Please don’t tell him,” she whispered.
“What’s up?” Oliver asked.
“Saz drowned her sorrow in some red last night after finding out Timmy cheated on her,” Markus explained.
Sarah slapped him against his chest. “I asked you not to say anything,” she said through gritted teeth.
Markus cocked an eyebrow. “I thought you meant the chocolate.”
Oliver laughed and pulled Sarah into a hug. “I told you—”
“Don’t say it,” she mumbled against his chest.
“You should try—”
Sarah placed a finger on his lips. “Just tell the happy couple congratulations, and I’ll catch up with them when they get back from their honeymoon.”
“You really are out of it, sweet pea. They left about half an hour ago.”
She sighed again. “Even better. I don’t have to feel guilty.”

The 3rd book in the Beginnings series was released last week, and I’d love to get “you hooked” with some snippets.

Today’s Hook:

Jared’s gaze moved to Sophie, who smiled at her little girl. Then he caught Mark with a big grin plastered on his face watching his wife and daughter. Blowing out a little sigh, Jared noticed out of the corner of his eye how Josh took Mia’s hand into his own.
That was it. He’d had enough. It was kind of the last drop in a full bucket. He was sick of everybody else around him being happy except him. Without a doubt, he was pleased for them, but it was time that he took matters into his own hands and got out of his daily routine. He wanted more in life than getting up in the morning and working eight to ten hours only to return to an empty home. It wasn’t necessarily that he was looking for a partner — although that would have been nice — but, he looked for something in life. Something to make him more content or his life more fulfilled.
With his thoughts drifting off as he gazed into the distance, he only vaguely followed the wedding ceremony.

♠♠  OUT NOW  ♠♠
The 3rd book in the Beginnings series was released last week, and I’d love to get “you hooked” with some snippets.
Enjoy ☺

Today’s Hook:

Mia let out a loud laugh, which earned her a glare from Mark, who stood at the front next to Zach. It had surprised everyone that Zach had asked him to be his best man. Although what could one expect from a family which was pulled together in so many odd circumstances. Mark O’Connor was Sophie’s husband, Mia Levesque’s brother-in-law, and little Hope’s dad. And Jared’s best buddy.
“For what it’s worth, there’s a huge difference,” Jared said, but he was instantly shushed by Mark’s parents who sat one row behind them.
Rolling his eyes, he went back to admiring his floral arrangements, toying with the idea of adding this service to his business. Possibly with the help of a staff member.
“The bride is late,” he heard someone say behind him. He had a guess it was Olivia, Mia’s best friend, who was always straightforward.
But as if on cue, the doors opened, and the bride entered the church.
Natasha looked beautiful in her lace-up, white chiffon dress. It was ruched at the back and emphasised her slim figure. She’d let her black hair grow and wore it in a French twist with pearls beaded into it. A delicate tiara graced her hairstyle.
Of course, he wouldn’t have known all the details if she hadn’t told him and shown him pictures as well as sketches so he would have had an idea for the flowers. Now that she was walking down the aisle, goose bumps spread across his skin. She looked stunning, and with a grin he leaned back, satisfied the lily-bouquet looked much better than any roses would have.

When she heard the start of the next song, an old ballad from the nineties, she opened her eyes and looked around. Oddly enough, her gaze fell on Markus straight away. Sarah still couldn’t believe how sexy he looked in the tuxedo. She smiled, because she’d seen him in his surf shorts, sans T-shirt often enough, but that tuxedo did something to her—or to him—that got her heart racing a little. Tilting her head a little, she studied him. As Markus was laughing at one of the guys’ jokes, she noticed his dimples even from the distance. He got them from his father, she thought. Very slowly an unfamiliar sensation crept up within her. It took her a moment to figure out the reason for it was the blonde girl next to Markus, trying desperately to get his attention.
Jealous?
Couldn’t be. She’d never been jealous of Markus’ girlfriends before, so why would she be today? Damn, she wished that girl would leave him be.
A long sigh escaped her.
Tired, she squeezed another little bit of lemon into her tea as she watched all the couples on the dance floor.
“Aww, baby, that’s your second cup of tea now. What’s the matter?” Markus asked as he sat next to her.
Startled, Sarah nearly spilled the tea.
Yet, the few simple words and his presence made her feel better already. As long as she was able to remember, Markus had called her baby. Initially, it had annoyed her, because she’d been so proud of having finally reached teenage years, but nowadays…nowadays she reeled in the comfort of their closeness.

The 3rd book in the Beginnings series was released last week, and I’d love to get “you hooked” with some snippets.

Today’s Hook:

Smoothing the lapels of his jacket, he took in the flower arrangements in the chapel. A sense of pride rose in him at how well it’d come together after all. Natasha had been so determined to use roses, but in the end she’d listened to his advice, and chosen November Lilies. They were everywhere, including the bouquet, and the arrangements came off stunning yet humble. Exactly what she’d told him she wanted.
“You did well with the flowers,” Mia whispered into his ear, hauling him back from his thoughts.
“Thanks. I thought so, too,” he replied. “Had to dig deep to remember how to do all of it.”
“Isn’t that your job?” Josh asked.
Josh was Mia’s boyfriend. They’d been going out for the last three years and were still going strong, a major feat considering they were in the strife of their teenaged years.
Jared was tempted to explain the difference between a florist and landscaping to Josh as well, but decided not to.
He didn’t have to, after all.
“He’s a landscaper,” Sophie added to the conversation. “There’s a big difference.”
Jared cocked an eyebrow towards Sophie, who was desperately trying to get her three-year-old daughter, Hope, to drink her milk before her afternoon nap. He knew very well that she never understood the difference either.
Josh chuckled. “Yeah, mate, but green is green, and plants are plants. Right?”

Hello and happy Sunday … Thanks for stopping by.

I’m currently rewriting DEFYING RULES so I’ll introduce you to one of my older stories before sharing some snippets of my latest WIP.
Before I do so … may I show off the cover for my NZ story, which I shared under the title “Fly with me”, now titled “Their Bond Through Jade”? I hope you like it as much as I do.

Today’s snippet is from “I think I Love You”, book 3 of the Australian Sports Stars series. Enjoy ♥

Markus DeLeon stood in front of Tyson and stared at him. The guy looked good in a tuxedo. A smile tugged at his lips, though, when he saw Ty’s hair.
Markus cocked a questioning brow. “The hair?”
Tyson instantly raked his hand through it to mess it up a bit. “Grandma Hazel,” he said through gritted teeth.
Markus laughed. “Did I just see an eye twitch?”
“Oh man, give me a break here, okay.” Tyson looked away. “And where the hell is Oliver?”
Markus tried his best not to laugh, but failed miserably. He’d known his friend for over twenty years, and Ty’s eye twitch was enough proof for him that his friend was beyond nervous. He couldn’t remember seeing Ty so tense in…well, ever. Not even before any of his important football games.
Then again, it wasn’t every day that one got married to a gorgeous girl. And despite Katie’s best efforts to keep it a low key event, the media was present already outside the church.
Grabbing his phone, Markus flicked through a few names and dialled Oliver’s number.
“Where are you?”
“Give me five minutes.”
“The groom’s nervous.”
Oliver let out a bark of laughter. “It’s his wedding day. Yeah, I’d be nervous, too. Do you have the rings? Katie will kill you, if you haven’t.”

But she will have to say goodbye again? And not only to Jared.

♥♦♥  EXCERPT ♥♦♥

Ivy enjoyed being with Jared. During their drive towards the Grand Canyon he told her of his home and described as much of Tasmania as possible.
“I always imagined Australia to be hot with white beaches and beautiful water.”
“That’s up in the north in Queensland,” he explained. “We have spectacular beaches as well. Tasmania is a small island in the very south. The last step before the Antarctica, so to speak.”
“That sounds cold!”
He laughed. “It clearly isn’t Queensland.” Settling his gaze on her, he continued, “But it has beautiful beaches as well. And a wonderful marine life. And the mountains. We have some stunning mountains in Tassie.”
“Tassie?”
“Tasmania.”
“It sounds beautiful.”
He agreed. “Yes, it is. One of the best places on earth.”
Once they arrived at the National Park, they found a parking spot and walked towards the edge of the Canyon. She touched his arm to get his attention. Not that she needed to. His attentive nature drew her to him, and she couldn’t get enough of listening to him.
“I feel bad that you pay for everything,” she said in a low voice.
Jared waved his hand. “Nah. It’s only money and luckily the Australian dollar is—”
“Whether you can or can’t afford it, it doesn’t matter. I don’t like it.”
He stopped and turned towards her, causing heat inside her body. Her breath caught but she kept walking, yet, it took him only a few steps to catch up with her and, by way of placing his hand on her shoulder, to stop her.
“Wanna tell me why?”
Avoiding his stare, she lifted her shoulder in a casual shrug.
“A shrug is not really an answer, ya know that, right?”
Yes, she knew that. How could she tell him that she’d left Dylan because he’d spent all the money she’d worked so hard for? She didn’t want to be in the same situation, as in spending someone else’s hard-earned money. But deep inside she didn’t want to hurt Jared, either. She was enjoying her time with him so much, she wasn’t ready for it to end because of some silly pride.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a little squirrel in the bushes and despite some guilt inside, it was a perfect distraction.
“Look!” she said louder than she’d intended. “A squirrel.”
With great relief, she noticed how her devious plan had worked. Jared quickly grabbed his camera and kneeled down to get the best shot possible of this little creature.
Kneeling next to him, she asked, “Don’t you have squirrels?”
Still trying to get that perfect photo of the little creature, he whispered, “Nope.”

#MFRWHooks “other girls were keen to share a shift with Jack.” #romance #mustread #amreading

♠♠  OUT NOW  ♠♠
I’m back ! Just travelled two weeks in NZ and had the most wonderful time … anyway … I’d like to share some more excerpts from my earlier book “Innocent Tears” – I hope you’ll enjoy the read. Thanks for stopping by.

Today’s Hook:

Emma stared at the phone in utter astonishment and then dialled the room number again.
“It’s Emma here, again,” she said with as much confidence as she could muster.
Mrs. Gibbs sighed. “Now what?”
“Mrs. Gibbs, my original call was primarily to inform you that Mr. McCormack is here,
and waiting for you in the hotel café.”
“Thank you, dear. I expect you upstairs at one o’clock.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Emma hung up, rubbed her hands over her face, and then sighed in frustration. “Jack,” she said through the little gap of her hands.
Jack looked over and his mouth tugged into a smile. He came closer, leaned against the reception desk, and crossed one foot over the other.
“What’s up, sunshine?”
Emma widened the gap between her hands just a bit further to look at Jack. She shook her head and wearily said, “You don’t wanna know.”
He hooked his finger into her skirt and pulled her closer. “You mucked up?”
“Big time.”
Jack slowly took her hands away from her face. “How big?”
Letting out a small grunt of frustration at her own wrong doing, she said, “Big!”
He smiled, and if Emma hadn’t needed his help, she would have been annoyed with him. Her eyes met his and she sighed. Jack was an attractive man, even in this everboring- looking hotel uniform, which nicely hugged his toned chest and abs. She placed her hand on his chest and another sigh escaped her lips.
Jack’s eyes slightly narrowed. “Okay, Em, spill it.”
Emma met Jack’s gaze. She knew the look of his brown eyes so well from all their staring competitions they’d had, as to who would get the next drink out of the fridge. No wonder all the other girls were keen to share a shift with Jack – or even more.
“I told Mrs. Gibbs I would look after her. I couldn’t find anyone, you know, as in to look after the girl. It’s just something about her… she’s so–” Emma exhaled. “–so… I have no idea. Intimidating, like my old teacher. So I rang her to tell her that this man was here. The good looking one. You know who I mean, don’t you?” Emma didn’t wait for his
answer. “–and she wouldn’t listen, and asked me about the babysitter. The next thing I know… Oh Jack, what’ve I done?”

BLURB:
Becoming a parent can be daunting at the best of times, but for Flynn, a business lawyer in Melbourne, it almost pulls the feet from right underneath him. He’s become a father to six-year-old Nadine literally overnight! He had no idea about her existence, and the news throws him into chaos, even more so when he is asked to take over custody. With the help of Emma, an employee at the hotel where Nadine and her grandparents are staying, and his parents, Flynn tries to do the right thing. Yet, the right thing in his eyes differs from his parents’, and Emma is voicing her opinion as well. And right in the middle is little Nadine, still grieving the loss of her mother and finding a wonderful friend in Emma. There’s no doubt she’s afraid where and with whom she will settle. But in the end, it’s a letter Flynn receives that helps him figuring out what to do.
