I’ve moved a little forward again with Hollie and her friend at the nightclub – meeting Jeremy.
Enjoy ♥

Hollie couldn’t take her eyes off his brown hair, his green
eyes, and his well-tanned face. This guy had an obvious ability to
keep the conversation flowing, and she found herself unable to
resist his soft-spoken voice. Before long, her tension eased a bit. She told him about her job and how she knew Davo. He did likewise and told her about his move from Hobart. She decided to like him, yet she wanted to go back to the comfort zone of her friends,
mainly Alex.
“Listen, Jeremy. It was nice meeting you, but I’ve truly have to go. There are still a few things I need to get sorted, and I don’t want to be too late  tonight,” Hollie said, pointing to her watch as a sign to Alex she wanted to leave.
He reached out and caught her hand in his. “How about I give you a lift?”
Looking at him, she couldn’t resist and smiled. “You are a persistent fellow, aren’t you?”

Thanks for all your comments,
I do appreciate each single one of them!

Excerpt, Lies and Solace:
As she stared into his dark eyes she realized how much she trusted him, and relied on him. That was something rare for her. The only people she trusted as much were her sisters.
I’m in love with him.
The thought blasted through her brain with the force of a tsunami. The tension of the last few weeks, the insecurity, the mistrust, the fear, slipped easily from her shoulders. For the first time, her mind was clear. She was in love with Ethan and she didn’t want to wait anymore. She wanted him. She wanted him to be her first, her last.
Finding courage she didn’t know she possessed, Harper slid off the stool and walked around the island. She plucked the wine glass from his hand and set it on the counter, then placed his hand on her breast. “Make love with me, Ethan.”
A fire lit in his eyes, telling her he wanted her, too. But there was a question there, a hesitation. “Are you sure?”
She’d never been more sure of anything in her life. “Yes.”
“Harper—”
“Shhh. Let’s not talk anymore.” She placed one finger over his lips, then stood on her tiptoes and kissed him.
Ethan’s reaction was lightning swift. He wrapped his arms around her and brought her close, his mouth descending on hers in a wild, warm kiss. Their tongues tangled, slid over each other. She’d missed his touch, his taste. She moaned, and in the sound she heard thirty-two years of longing.
For this. For him.

About Jana Richards:

When Jana Richards read her first romance novel, she immediately knew two things: she had to commit the stories running through her head to paper, and they had to end with a happily ever after. She also knew she’d found what she was meant to do. Since then she’s never met a romance genre she didn’t like. She writes contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and historical romance set in World War Two, in lengths ranging from short story to full length novel. Just for fun, she throws in generous helpings of humor, and the occasional dash of the paranormal. Her paranormal romantic suspense “Seeing Things” was a 2008 EPPIE finalist.
In her life away from writing, Jana is an accountant/admin assistant, a mother to two grown daughters, and a wife to her husband Warren. She enjoys golf, yoga, movies, concerts, travel and reading, not necessarily in that order. She and her husband live in Winnipeg, Canada with their Pug/Terrier cross Lou and several unnamed goldfish. She loves to hear from readers and can be reached through her website at www.janarichards.com

Hence, he was surprised to find out that Jack lived in this large house just outside Fermosa Bay, on the top of the cliffs, with a view over the ocean. The house had five rooms and a small study at the back. The lounge room, with a high vaulted ceiling, had wood fire heating and a big window front. Connor had loved the house the instant he’d stepped into it.
He entered the hall, where he found his father. “Good morning, Jack.”
The old man sighed sadly. “You still can’t bring it over your heart to call me Dad?”
Connor’s gaze wandered from his father to all the many framed photos along the wall. Jack was in many of them, but most were of people he didn’t know, except the biggest one, which showed Connor as a child in Jack’s arms. A wave of sadness shook him, but he wasn’t sure what it exactly was. It could’ve been regret that he hadn’t known about his father earlier, or simple sympathy for the man who thought so much of him without knowing anything about him.
And, yet, it wasn’t in him to call him Dad. Or to even think of him as his dad.
After a moment’s silence, he turned to his father and shook his head. “Sorry.”
Jack coughed, and Connor quickly rushed to his side, holding him upright.
“Another bad day?” Connor asked.
“Son, there will be no more good days. One day is like the other, until it will be the last.”
The words struck Connor deep enough to feel some emotions for his father. He knew time was running out, but hearing it made it sound final.

BLURB:
When Connor Walsh, a business lawyer in London, receives news that his estranged father is terminally ill, he returns to Fermosa Bay, a little coastal town in Australia. With the memories of his childhood years tucked away in the back of his mind, he finds his father and kindergarten friends rallying around to remind him of the past. But he’s unprepared for the growing attraction he feels for Emily, and it doesn’t take long for Connor to feel regret that his life could have been so much different.

Emily Bradshaw has waited for over twenty years to see Connor again. And although he can’t remember her, let alone their first kiss, her childhood crush is still in full swing. Eager to pick up where they left off as children, she’s determined to enjoy the short time he is in Fermosa Bay, accepting her heart will break when he returns to his life in London.

Will the echoes of the past lure him into staying in Fermosa Bay?

“Hi,” she stuttered. “Actually, thanks, but no thanks.”
“Hey, just this one,” he persisted.
“Honestly, I don’t think it would be fair. My friend is waiting for me to bring her a glass of water. Next time perhaps,” she heard herself saying. There was something inside her that wasn’t ready yet for the whole flirting and dating business.
But Jeremy wouldn’t take no for an answer. “How about you take the water over and come back for your drink?”
Hollie exhaled a small breath. He’d cornered her, and she didn’t like it. But there was something about him she wasn’t able to resist. She stared at him, and his mischievous eyes prolonged the moment.
Crap! And stupid me for melting in those green eyes.
There was nothing left to do but give in. “Okay, I’ll be right back.” She picked up the glass of water and made her way through the masses back again to Alex. “This guy just invited me for a drink,” she said to Alex.
“Who?”
Hollie glanced uneasily over her shoulder. “Jeremy.”
“Great. So what are you doing here then?” Alex teased. “Off you go, this is your chance. He is quite a hunk, isn’t he?”
“I’d appreciate a bit of help here, Alex. What am I supposed to do?”
Alex shook her head. “You’re nuts, Hollie. Look at him. A dream of a man. And…if all else fails, at least you saved some money on a lemon vodka.” Alex grinned mischievously at her and pushed her off the seats. “Go, for heaven’s sake. You’re beautiful, intelligent, and all the other things. Just go.”
So Hollie returned to Jeremy, who was talking to another guy. Her heart thudded loudly, and she wasn’t all that sure about this idea anymore. When Jeremy saw her stepping closer, though, he broke into a leisurely smile.
“Here’s your drink.” He handed over the lemon vodka.
“Thanks.” Hollie was so nervous she was hardly able to speak, let alone think about what to say to him.

Connor Walsh leaned against the window frame with his arms crossed over his chest as he watched the waves crashing against the rocks. In front of him, as wide as the horizon, was the ocean. With the clouds drifting in from the sea, the sky had turned grey and dark, and he knew there’d be even more rain coming later in the day.

He would’ve enjoyed the scene if it hadn’t reminded him of the changes in his life. He’d been back in Fermosa Bay for two days already, but the memories of the first seven years of his life which he’d spent in this small Australian coastal town were tucked away in the back of his mind. Inaccessible as it seemed. Nowadays, his life was in London and had been for the last twenty-three years. Taking a couple of deep breaths, he looked towards the harbour in the distance, and the small town in the alcove with the hilly forest in the background, where he’d spend some of his childhood years. It was truly one picturesque little place.

A noise from the other end of the house hauled him back from his thoughts, and he stepped away from the window. Since he’d decided to accept Jack’s invitation to come to Australia a few weeks earlier, he’d had visions of what he’d find here. His mother hadn’t told him much about the time she’d lived here, except about Jack owning a pub. Connor had been furious for her lack of memory, but in the end, he’d admitted to himself that it had possibly not been a time she’d like to remember.

Thirsty from their dancing, the girls made their way towards
the bar, but stopped right next to Davo, who happily told them a
bit more about Jeremy.
“Yeah, that’s Jez. He’s only been in town for a few weeks. He’s got some management job with a new company, which only just started a business here. You know, the one just near the airport, don’t you?” Davo stared questioningly at the girls, but they shook their heads.
“He’s a distant cousin somehow, so I invited him to come along. Mum is a close friend of his.” Before the girls were able to ask anything else, Davo had already left to chat with someone else he’d discovered in the crowd.
“Management?” Hollie wondered out loud. “No thanks. I reckon that’s way too far up my alley. Anyway, it’s my shout. What would you like?”
“I still have my drink with Ben, but some water for the throat would be nice. I’ll see you over there.”
Hollie made her way to the bar. As she struggled through the crowd, she noticed how Jeremy was watching her. A tingle shuddered through her lower body. She pretended not to be affected by his gaze, but her heart was pounding twice as fast, and her cheeks were burning. She returned his smile and took in how attractive he was, indeed. Even in the typical dimmed nightclub light, she noticed his athletic body, the short dark hair, and his
immaculate white teeth. She liked the combination of his black denim jeans, the simple white shirt, and a casual jacket with the sleeves folded to his elbows. It had been a few years since she had been filled with such inner upheaval—since she had met Jackson to be exact.
For crying out loud, Hollie, just get a grip on yourself.
It seemed a long way and a long time, but she finally got to the bar and ordered a lemon vodka as well as some water. Trying to get some change out of her tight pockets, she startled when someone spoke to her.
“May I buy you this drink?”
Hollie turned and looked straight into Jeremy’s eyes.

#MFRWHooks “Next stop was the Grand Canyon.” #romance #mustread #Bookboost

♠♠  OUT NOW  ♠♠

The 3rd book in the Beginnings series was released in October, and I’d love to get “you hooked” with some snippets.

Enjoy ☺

Today’s Hook:

Back in the motorhome, he packed everything away and returned to the main road. Next stop was the Grand Canyon. It was roughly a two-hour drive to Williams and another half hour to find somewhere to stay. He intended to get there before dark. The scenery on the way hadn’t changed much. It was still lacking green, but had an Australian outback feel to it. It looked beautiful but hostile at the same time. The dry land, with only a bit of green colour sprinkled in between. However, a few miles before Williams it changed with some trees appearing. Yet, the temperature had made a big dive, too.
Jared filled up with some petrol before heading towards the campground. He loved the little place and its atmosphere, but unfortunately, he was too tired to go out that night to enjoy some local cuisine or meet some people.
Tired? He’d spent all day driving in that small motorhome, so of course he was. Focussing on the wrong side of the road had been exhausting indeed, especially when his mind constantly kept going back to that beautiful flower girl. She had settled in the back of his head and simply wouldn’t leave. Not even when he was fast asleep later that night.

BLURB:
Jared Fraser, a landscape business owner in Hobart, Australia, sets out for a holiday to the USA to travel along the Route 66 in a motorhome. Looking forward to his first holiday overseas, he’s excited as he prepares himself for the journey. But little could’ve prepared him for crossing paths with a beautiful hitchhiker.
Will he be able to put his past aside and grab onto happiness?
Ivy Bennett thought leaving her boyfriend would be the hard part. It doesn’t take long to figure out how wrong she was. As she struggles with making a new start in her life, the last person she expects to lead her to happiness is a laid-back Australian on vacation.
But she will have to say goodbye again. And not only to Jared.

I’m sharing another snippet from “Journey to Her Dreams”, my second book I wrote and which is now available for FREE for Kindle Unlimited subscribers.

I’ve moved a little forward again introducing Hollie today, the main character living in Launceston, Australia.
Enjoy ♥

accent-clipart-13309573511112670181decorative-lines-2_large

Hollie paced through the rooms, but for the life of her, she couldn’t find her phone. She rushed through her little apartment,
which was upstairs in the attic of the farmhouse just outside
Launceston, a small town in Australia. Seventh ring and she
stumbled over her shoes to reach it on the couch.
“Hello?” she answered out of breath.
“Hi, it’s Alex here. Lost the phone again, didn’t you?”
“I sort of had a feeling it would be you who kicked me out of bed at this unearthly hour of the day,” Hollie said, holding back a yawn.
“So tell me,” Alex begged her friend. “What happened? I want to know every tiny little detail.”
Hollie laughed, though she didn’t feel like it at all. In fact, the previous night had been a bit of a disaster, to say the least.

****

Alex had lost the toss to drive into town that night, and she was about to pick up Hollie, who was still wrapped in her bath towel, considering, choosing, and still not knowing what to wear for the night. She went back into the bathroom and applied her makeup. Hollie always made sure she didn’t use too much, just enough for her bright blue eyes to stand out. She checked in the mirror and smiled as she remembered her dad’s words: You’re cute as a button.
“What on earth does that mean, Dad?” she would ask him in a sulky voice.
He would point at her mother’s photo and say, “Just like your mother: a pretty young woman, with lovely golden hair, a neat figure, and a twinkle in both eyes.” And, as he touched her nose with his finger, he added, “A small nose, and a smile that lights up everyone’s world.”

♠♠  OUT NOW  ♠♠

The 3rd book in the Beginnings series was released in October, and I’d love to get “you hooked” with some snippets.

I’ve moved the story a little forward … this is when Jared meets Ivy, the heroine of this story. She’s left her boyfriend “to start a new life”

Enjoy ☺

Today’s Hook:

And he chuckled some more.
“I’d better go. It was really nice meeting you. And I honestly appreciate you helping me out.”
He turned and locked the doors to the motorhome. Yet, she wasn’t moving.
“Ivy.”
“Hmm?”
Watching her carefully, he said. “Your feet aren’t movin’.”
Her beautiful eyes filled up with tears, and a bit of guilt went through Jared for pushing her. Obviously, her impression of him being a criminal couldn’t have been all that bad, because she wasn’t leaving. Exhaling a big breath, he met her gaze. Nothing was going to plan, so why not?
“Wanna come a little farther?” he asked as he rubbed the back of his neck.
To his surprise, she shook her head. “No.” Drawing in her lips, she stepped back and then said. “Bye, Jared.”
Still carrying some guilt, he watched her walk across the car park and into the distance. “Nice knowing ya,” he said to himself before he turned and headed towards the shopping centre.
Jared’s mind wasn’t on shopping at all. Instead, he replayed the last twelve hours and the few words that had been spoken between him and Ivy. She had been like a closed book, and he still didn’t know why she was running. In fact, she hadn’t said much at all. It had driven him nearly insane how she had nibbled at her sandwich, although her craving for food had been obvious. Yes, he had been attracted to her. But that would’ve been one big disaster. Hooking up with an American girl was not something he needed. Not to mention a runaway at that.
A criminal.
He let out a snort. For all he knew, she could’ve been a con-woman on the run.

BLURB:
