Happy New Year, everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful start into 2019 and may it be filled with love, kindness, success, and health for us all.
I continue with my WIP, another Beauty Bay story. Last snippet was about Jesse’s drive to Melbourne after finding out his sister is in hospital.
Today’s snippet is in Lexie’s POV.

Enjoy ♥

Lexie was late the next morning for work. Zoe had begged her to go past the shelter to say hello before heading to school. What was supposed to be a five minutes top visit turned into a fifteen minutes greeting to all the animals.
Switching on her desktop, she grabbed the file she was planning on working on when she startled at the sound of a knock at the door.
“Come in.”
Harrison stepped in.
“I’m so sorry, I’m late,” she apologised.
The way he cocked his brow told her he wasn’t sure what she was talking about.
“I’ve only just come in. Zoe wanted to go past the shelter to see the joey, and …” She blew out a breath when a frown formed on his forehead. “Anyway, I’m sorry.”
“Lexie, calm down. I’m not here to check on you. I wouldn’t dare.”
“You’re not?”
“Of course not. You’re doing a sensational job. And we know it can’t be easy as a single mother. So relax.”
She sat, feeling a lot better now. “How can I help you?”
