Hi everyone –
Let me tease you with another MFRWHook from But the Heart Does, the latest instalment in the Alinta Bay series. This story is filled with romance, and second chances
This week’s Hook …
Slowly, she lifted her head to meet his gaze.
“I’m sure there’s no reason to worry. We’ll be moving along soon again,” he added in an attempt to comfort her.
A small smile gradually spread across her face. “Nice meeting you, Jonah, though I wish it were under different circumstances,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She took a deep breath and added with more spark, “I’m Maddie, by the way.”
“Nice to meet you.”
Her deep blue eyes held him captive, and he found himself lost in them until her voice brought him back from his thoughts.
“Did you hear me?”
He shook his head slightly. “Apologies.”
“I said, I hope the local police didn’t upset a retiree by just giving him the traditional gold watch.”
It took a moment for him to comprehend her attempt to humour the situation. A soft chuckle escaped him, as he stood. “There has to be an emergency button.”
Blurb
In an unexpected encounter, the lives of Jonah, a rescue diver from New Zealand, and Maddie, a spirited local, collide, forever altering their future.
Trapped together in a hotel lift, sparks fly between them, but Jonah’s past looms, casting a shadow over their fragile connection. Maddie, captivated by Jonah’s charisma, is determined to find him when he mysteriously misses their planned dinner. With a friend’s assistance, her search unveils a chilling discovery – Jonah unconscious on a cliff.
Navigating a sea of emotions, in order to find a future together, will Maddie and Jonah manage the challenges posed by their past secrets and present obstacles?

OMG, caught in an elevator… one of my darkest fears.
Even the prospect of romance wouldn’t help!
LOL, Lisabet, re the prospect of romance 😀 But I hear you, I’m not a big fan of lifts either 😉
I’m with Lisabet. I never get in an elevator without a niggle of fear that I’ll be trapped. Too many movies, probably. 🙂
I agree, Kayelle … If possible, I choose the stairs 🙂
I’m terribly claustrophobic. Last summer an elevator door refused to open for me, and I was just about to go into a full blown panic when it finally opened. What a relief! Sadly, I wasn’t trapped with a good looking New Zealander. Great excerpt, Iris!
OMG, Jana. It’s a nightmare even if for just a minute or two. And yes you’d like this Kiwi-guy 😉
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi,
Sometimes the best plans are brought into disarray in an elevator especially when two people are attracted to each other.
Shalom shalom
Very true Pat 😉
Love the setting! An elevator! Great way to meet-cute!
LOL – thank you, Maggie. Not many are fond of the idea of being stuck in the lift 😉
