Snippet Sunday – DEFYING RULES – 02/04/2017 #romance #love #SnippetSunday #amwriting

This is the second book in the Fermosa Bay series, which, now that I almost have my health back, I’m trying to get onto the market as soon as possible.

DEFYING RULES is set along the Australian Great Ocean Road and tells the story of Ethan Tomlin, single dad, and manager of a hotel chain.

This is still a WIP, so critique away.

Thanks … and enjoy 🙂

A smile tugged at Ethan Tomlin’s lips when he saw his son Nicholas through the rear view mirror in the back of the car. It must’ve been the most uncomfortable position, with his head leaning back against the booster seat, the neck flexed into an awkward position. And yet, he envied Nick for his little snooze. It’d been a bit of a rollercoaster twenty-four hours for them since receiving the bad news from home. Their drive into Christchurch earlier in the morning as well as the three and a bit hour flight back into Melbourne had been draining for both — emotionally as well as physically.
They’d spent ten days in New Zealand exploring the south island in a motorhome. It’d been a great adventure, and Nick had loved the different scenery, the adventures, and even discovered his love for fishing. Out of all places!
A couple of minutes later, Ethan was able to see Fermosa Bay as they emerged from the tunnel of trees. The small town nestled along the curving bay where it met the Indian Ocean. Fishing boats went and came from the sheltered harbour and as he drove along, he watched the stormy clouds along the line where the ocean met the sky. Born and raised in Fermosa, he’d considered it to be the best place to live and an even better place to raise his son.

Thanks for all your comments,
I do appreciate each single one of them!

4 starsThe Romance Review – NEW BEGINNINGS is a very emotional read, one that is heartwarming as well as heart wrenching. It gives you hope in the act of human kindness and that good things do happen to good people. I highly recommend this book.

  1. He really cares about his son and wants to do good by him. I like how you described the way his son was sleeping. My children would sleep in odd positions and I’d wonder how in the world they weren’t uncomfortable. lol

    1. Hahaha, Karen. Yes, I remember those days when the girls were little … never understood how they could do it 🙂 thanks for stopping by!

  2. Lovely descriptions. Sounds like a delightful little place of peaceful heaven to live, he has a bit heart for his son. I am wondering what that bad news is they received though.
