I’ll continue today with a snippet from ECHOES OF THE PAST, Book 1 in the Fermosa Bay Series. Today’s snippet is back in Connor’s POV. ENJOY ♥

“Good to hear. Give me a call if there are any legal problems. I’m sure we can get it sorted. After all, Australian and British law are based on similar principles.”
“I’m not expecting any legal problems, Father.”
“Son, when a man invests that amount of time and money to find his heir, there are always legal problems.”
Connor wasn’t sure why, but it bugged him that Duncan wasn’t able to tolerate that he had accepted Jack Delany’s invitation. A meeting would have probably happened sooner or later. Admittedly, he called him Jack, but he had no problems accepting he was his biological father.
“How’s Mum?”
“Jane’s fine. Busy organising some function happening this weekend.”
There was a moment of silence before Duncan added, “Harriet asked for you yesterday.”
Those legal problems always do seep in, invited or not. But that’s real life. Things can more pleasant in literature. Thank goodness.
Thank you, Jarlene. Legalities are always unwelcomed I’d say 🙂
I’m surprised Duncan never prepared himself for the possibility that Connor might one day find his biological father (or the father would find him). That’s much more likely in today’s world where the information is so easily discovered via the Internet. I hope this meeting doesn’t destroy the bond between Duncan and Connor. Tweeted.
Thanks for the tweet and also thanks for stopping by.
It’s the background to the story that made him never think of the real father or the possibility that he’d “show up” again.
I suspect a lot happened in that brief moment of silence…
Yup, brief moments sometimes are filled with mountains of thoughts 😉
The intentionality of calling parents by their legal name says a lot.
True … thanks for stopping by Jeff.
