I return to my story I started a little while ago. Today’s snippet is back in Jesse’s POV.
Enjoy ♥
He apologised as soon as he figured the reason for her silence. “How bad?”
“Mario is great with her. Motivating her and giving her a lot of encouragement. You shouldn’t blame him, but be grateful for his efforts.”
Exhaling a long breath, he pinched the bridge of his nose. He’d come to appreciate Karen’s subtle ways of telling him off and putting him back into line. “I’m sorry.”
“I know it’s hard for you to let go and trust him, but you should.”
“And I do, but I’d appreciate if you could tell me how Dana is.”
“She’s strained her wrist. They’re keeping her in hospital overnight, because it shook her up a little and they were worried about her blood pressure.”
“Shit. Which hospital?”
“She’s in good hands.”
“Which hospital?”
She was quiet again for a long moment.
“Karen, I’ll find out one way or another. There’s no way my sister is in hospital and I’m not coming to see her.”
“Okay. I’ll let the nurses know.”
As he rushed through the house to get his jacket and his car keys, he listened to the details of which hospital Dana was in, which floor, and room number. She even gave him the name of a nurse who looked after his sister.
“Are you there?”
“Yes,” she whispered.
“This is not a fucking strain. There’s something you’re not telling me.”
“Your sister is fine,” she repeated. “I’ll see you in an hour or so.”
Then she disconnected the call.
Thanks for all your comments,
I do appreciate each single one of them!

This snippet sets up interesting possibilities. Is there indeed something more serious wrong with his sister or is he just the type to overreact?
Thanks Ed. We should find out more details next week 🙂
‘We?’ You mean *you* don’t even know? 😉
LOL, Ed, it’s a WIP and I’m writing the story week by week …. 🙂
Lots of intrigue, past history and open questions here – very effective snippet!
Thank you, Veronica!! 🙂
I’m curious to know if there’s something she’s not saying about his sister. Enjoyed the snippet.
Glad you did, Karen 🙂
