Book Blurb:
I had been searching for love my whole life. It took the opening up of the world via technology for me to find my soulmate. Once I laid eyes on her, at the arrivals gate, I knew I was never going to let her go. The following is a collection of poems I wrote to my angel, from our first meeting up until our wedding day. I was working crazy hours as a chef and I had apoetry-of-love-the-engagementyear-jpg-1 long commute. I chose my commuting time to pen her a poem each day. These poems speak of our life, our challenges and our growth together…in every aspect they speak of our love.

May this book give someone the courage to let their special someone know how much they care for them and how much they mean to them. Saying I love you is a gift you can give many times a day.

Excerpt:
As My Beauty Sleeps

I love to lay and listen
As my beauty sleeps.

The sound of each breath
As my beauty sleeps.

I think how I will awaken her
As my beauty sleeps.

To kiss her softly
That is my plan
As my beauty sleeps.

My lips move close
But I just enjoy listening
As my beauty sleeps.

Excerpt

She pushed away from the door. “If you’re finished, I’ll clear up your dishes.
“Damn it woman, I fend for myself here.” He looked her up and down. He noticed her deep blue eyes, midnight black hair, and dusky skin. “What are you? Gypsy? Is that where you learned how to diddle a man out of his belongings?”
She drew her back up straight and squared her shoulders. The gesture pulled her dress tight across obviously ample breasts.
There’s a practiced enticement. She’s in for a surprise if she thinks that trick will work on me.
Chin high, she met his eyes without flinching. “My grandmother is Ojibwa, my father was French, and my husband was a Scot. You can despise whichever one of those your English heart chooses, or all of them, but I am not a thief.”
She grabbed her skirt and took a step toward the door. “Do fend for yourself. We’ll leave as soon as we can.”
“I’ll decide when you’re a thief,” he snarled, bringing her to a halt. “It’s my house.”

Wired for Murder by Karen McCullough ** Market Center Mysteries @kgmccullough

 Wired for Murder
by Karen McCullough

Book Blurb:

Most of the WFM_v3_200time, Heather McNeil loves her job as assistant to the director of the Washington DC Market Show Center. Because she’s a good listener and even better at solving problems, her boss assigns her to handle a lot of the day to day issues that arise during the shows, exhibits, and conferences being held there. When Heather becomes an unwilling audience to murder during the Business Technology Expo and later finds the body, she’s willing to let the police take care of it. But she soon learns more than she wanted to know about the victim and all the people who really didn’t like him very much.

Excerpt:

Just two hours into setup day of the annual Business Technology Show at the Washington, D.C Commerce and Market Center, I was struggling to keep from screaming at an exhibitor. That was so not me. I was cool, calm, collected Heather McNeill. The person who could handle even the most troublesome people. Most of the time.

Dieter Gebhardt was pushing my buttons and he knew it.

“I do not understand vy you say ve cannot do this.” A hint of smirk leaked onto his face. The tiny curl of his lip belied his pretended ignorance of my meaning, much less the authority behind the words. The sales representative for Schwartz-Mann GmbH was playing me, and I couldn’t tell if he really thought he could get his way by feigning stupidity or if he was trying to score some machismo points. I didn’t care about the points, but he damned well wasn’t going to win the argument.

The whine of an electric screwdriver a couple of booths away almost drowned me out as I explained yet again why the market center couldn’t allow the huge, powerful, multi-colored strobe lights they’d set up on poles around their booth to flash all the time. If those weren’t bad enough by themselves, a set of sirens went along with them, blaring every few minutes. No way that could continue.

The complaints had started flooding in after the first blare shrieked around the show floor. I was dispatched to have a talk with the perpetrators.

When Gebhardt finally got the message that pretending stupidity wasn’t going to win the argument, he tried a different tactic, waving a piece of paper in my face “Ve haf planned lights and display many months ago. Rules say ve can haf the lights and sound. This is not so?”

I stared at him for a moment, irritated again by the smarmy smile that leaked past his attempt to maintain a straight face. Asshole. He was too good-looking for his own good, but too much of a jerk to be attractive. I was willing to bet his English was a lot better than he let on.

Dana thinks she’s found true love ~~ Dream Snatcher by @sue_searles #NewRelease

SUE SEARLES
Dream Snatcher

BLURB
Just when Dana thinks she has found true love, her mother drops a bombshell that turns her world upside down. Now she must find a way to quench a love that was never supposed to happen.dreamsnatcher_500x750
After twenty-five years, Lorraine finds her missing son—just not in the way she’d expected—and is forced to reveal the plethora of family secrets that has remained hidden for decades.
Dana delves into her grandfather’s past to uncover the story of this one man’s destructive lifestyle, and how it ultimately led to the unraveling of the entire family line. At the same time, she must piece together the mystery surrounding herself and her brother—two siblings deliberately kept apart so they would never find each other.
With three generations of women affected, will Dana get to meet the man responsible and solve the mystery?

EXCERPT
Dana sat stiffly in the passenger seat while Shaun drove them the short distance to Umdloti Beach on Saturday afternoon. She couldn’t stop her hands from shaking and her palms were sweaty. Umdloti Beach seemed like the perfect place to break the news—their special place to get away from the pressures of life and kindle their growing love.
But today would be different. They wouldn’t be leaving the confines of the parking lot this time, but could only watch other happy couples from a distance, laughing, playing, and frolicking in the waves or along the shore. Dana feared the process was going to be more heart-wrenching than she’d expected. More than anything else, it was the physical attraction that scared her, not knowing whether she’d just be able to turn it off. Was there something wrong with her that she still wrestled with those sorts of feelings? Her whole world had suddenly gone crazy.
Shaun knew her well enough to give her space when she needed it, but today she could see his trepidation as they drove the route in silence. They turned into the parking lot and pulled up alongside a wooden railing, the sound of seagulls squawking overhead and children playing on the beach. It was one-thirty, but already the sky was becoming overcast and turning an eerie gray, and a hint of thunder rumbled in the distance. Shaun started to open the door on his side and she touched his arm.
“We can’t . . . We have to talk here.”
The apprehension on his face broke her heart. “Honey, just tell me what’s going on. You’re starting to freak me out.”
“There’s something I have to tell you.” Her voice cracked. Lord help me, this is so hard. She drew a steadying breath and eased it out slowly, blinking back angry tears.
He took her hand and started weaving his fingers through hers. She pulled back.
“No, we can’t do that; it’s wrong.” How had she been able to hold back the flood of tears until now?
“Okay, honey, you’re worrying me. Whatever it is, we can work through it together.” His tone was tender but commanding. “It’s obviously about your mom because this all started last night.”
Dana gave a slow nod, desperate to stall him, wanting so badly to prolong the inevitable.

Excerpt

“Here, let me help you,” Morgan said as she draped Devyn’s arm around her shoulders.
Morgan tried to relieve as much weight as she could from Devyn as she helped her hobble to the waiting vehicle. Once Devyn was seated in the cramped back seat, Morgan dug out her emergency supply bag. She handed Devyn a blanket and a bottle of water. “I have a first aid kit, but I think you need something a little more than a bandage.”
“It’s just a few scratches. I’ll live.”
Morgan could see why Nick trusted Devyn with his back. As she looked at the battered and bruised woman, who had taken off into the desert in the middle of the night in bare feet to prevent a criminal from getting away, she had to admire her. Devyn had to be in extreme pain, yet not a complaint escaped her lips.
“Make room in the back,” Nick huffed.
Morgan looked up to see Nick trudging toward her with an inert Aaron slung over his shoulder. She raced to the tiny back cargo area and moved a few items around so Nick could squeeze the body in the vehicle.
“Is he dead?” Morgan whispered.
“Not quite, but we need to get him medical help A.S.A.P. The bullet didn’t hit any vital organs, but I’m not sure how much damage he suffered from the knock to the head”
Morgan watched as Nick set the man down in the vehicle, and then she joined Devyn in the back seat. Turning around and kneeling, she was able to lean over the seat and assess Aaron’s injuries. She folded up a handkerchief and placed it over Aaron’s gunshot wound and applied pressure. She wasn’t sure which was bleeding more, the bullet hole or the bump and cut to the head, but she had to try and slow the blood loss any way she could.
“That’s all we can do for now,” Nick said. “Just keep the pressure on the best you can.”
Morgan nodded as Nick secured the back and then got behind the wheel.
“You okay?” Nick asked as he turned to face Devyn.
“I’ve had better days, but sadly, I’ve had worse.”

Excerpt #1:
Marie furrowed her brow and softly interrupted, “André is the Walking Man?”
I looked at Marie and asked, “You’ve heard of him?”
Marie nodded. “Of course. He is a staple of the Downtown area. There are a few groups I’m affiliated with that hand out food and clothing to those in need. He never comes to these events so I leave them by the area where he sleeps.” She paused, thoughtfully. “I just can’t believe that it is André.”
Joe cleared his throat and looked at his father. “What happened to André?”
Alfred sighed and after a moment said, “It really was the fault of that witch he was married to. She and her family treated him horribly. She was a gold digger and all she cared about was money and the prestige.”
Marie interrupted Alfred by saying, “I remember her. She was so mean to André and all she cared about was looking rich. Wealth is a gift—she just wanted it for a toy. She treated André so badly… and his mother-in-law was the worst. She would put him down all the time. In front of other people, no less.”
Alfred continued, “André was a good man and worked hard. He was working on a big project for the city. He worked night and day on the project and told me it was going to put Golden Lake on the map.
“He absolutely adored his daughter, too. I remember that clearly. She was his everything.” Alfred paused, apparently lostin his thoughts. With a sigh he said, “There was a scandal with the project, though, and André got fired. Soon after, Dara left him, took Katherine with her and André fell apart. He started drinking heavily and, without his daughter, his life fell apart.”
Joe looked at me and I fought to keep from throwing my hand over my mouth. There was purple fire in his eyes and I felt his anger. I already knew the story of André and I tried to smile at him.
I smelled burning flesh. Joe flashed in full armor fighting demons with a golden sword.
I gasped at the vision and brought my hand to my chest in shock feeling the key necklace, before I could stop the physical reaction. The necklace weighed heavily as did my heart. He would be fighting at my side soon.
Marie asked, “Are you okay, dear?”
Joe turned to look at his mother. He nodded and only said, “I never knew any of this.”
Alfred continued, “I am sorry, son, but you asked for the truth. This is what I know. André was sleeping at the office and drinking all the time. He was supposed to give a presentation to a client and was drunk. He got into a scuffle with his boss and rumor has it, André punched him.”
I feigned shock and said, “Oh my!”
Than is to blame. I don’t know how I know or what happened but I vow to the Lord that I will make Than pay, thought Joe.
I choked and almost spit out my drink. I just heard Joe’s thoughts! I had to set him straight and right away.
I cleared my throat and said awkwardly, “Joe, I think I left something in the car.”
Joe looked at me with eyebrows raised. “Excuse me, we’ll be right back,” I said with a smile.
I walked outside and knew that Joe was right behind me. When I reached the car, I whirled and said in a stern tone, “Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
Joe stopped mid-step and said, “What are you talking about, Mary?”
I ran into his arms and whispered, “You cannot take on Than by yourself! I heard your thoughts in there. Now, I don’t know how you know that it was Than who drove André to punching his boss but please promise me that you will not get revenge.”
I paused to catch my breath and remembered what Gabriel told me. “Joe, in order to defeat the darkness and not become dark ourselves, we need to have a pure heart. We are filled with the Light and our motives must always be to speak the Truth and spread the Light.”
Joe took several deep breaths while he held me. He stroked my hair and whispered, “I’m sorry, my angel. I didn’t mean to frighten you and you are right. It was just a momentary thought.”
I lifted my head and locked eyes with Joe. Tears filled my eyes but I was determined. I bit at my top lip and then whispered, “Promise me you won’t put yourself in harm’s way.” Hot tears spilled down my cheeks.
Joe wiped at them and said in a deep, reassuring tone, “I promise, Mary. I promise I won’t be a hothead and I won’t be rash.” Then, he laid his forehead on mine and whispered, “Please don’t cry, darling. Please.”
I nodded and whispered, “I would die if I lost you. Than will use you to try to get to me. You are my love, my everything.” My voice cracked. “I would die if I lost you,” I repeated.
Joe shook my shoulders a little and looked deep into my eyes. “Listen to me, Mary, you will never lose me! Do you hear me? I amby your side now and forever.”
Overcome with emotion, Joe kissed me.

In all the Big & Beautiful stories you get to know the women. They are all told from the heroine’s point of view exclusively. The men end up a little neglected so I wanted to introduce you to Graham today!

Graham Hall tormented me for a month when I was getting SkinnyCakes ready to open. He was my contractor and all around handyman, taking care of all the jobs Max couldn’t handle, or didn’t have time for. Every day I would come in and find Graham, a sweat soaked t-shirt clinging to his tight body. The man did things to me that no man ever had. His muscles had muscles. He was big, from his shoulders to his feet. Broad shoulders, biceps the size of a small child, a chest the rippled with his every move, not that I was looking.

That’s not true. Graham was a man who demanded you look at him.

And then there was the kind, gentle man beneath that made-for-awesome-sex body.

Any woman with a pulse would have been tormented by him.

Dwayne_Johnson_at_the_2009_Tribeca_Film_Festival_2My inspiration for Graham was Dwayne Johnson. Big. Strong. Sexy. What more could you ask for in a man? Is it any wonder he was my inspiration?

When thinking about a guy like Dwayne Johnson, or my Graham, he was not only gorgeous, but kind and sensitive and treated a woman the way we all dream of being treated. He was exactly the guy a woman like Abby needed. Abby was recently divorced and reluctant to get involved. Any man wouldn’t do. No, he had to be the perfect man. A man who would answer her demands when she told him exactly what she needed, and who would do the little things she’d never ask for but wanted.

When he finally came in it took everything in me not to launch myself into his arms and thank him. I eyed the couple sitting in the chairs, each reading a book from the shelf, then met his eyes. He looked sheepish.

“Are you mad?”

I shook my head, softening. “It’s beautiful. I thought we agreed-”

“You agreed, Abby. I never said I wouldn’t build it. I couldn’t get it out of my head. It looks like it’s getting use already.”

“Graham, I can’t pay you for it. Not yet-”

He held up his hand to stop me. “Abby, it’s okay. I wanted to do it, and I already told you-”

“I know, Graham,” I interrupted. “But I want to do something. I really can’t pay you, but maybe I could cook you dinner this weekend?”

I chewed my lip, wondering what he was thinking. He didn’t say anything, just stared at me, making me more and more self-conscious. He probably would have preferred the money.

“It’s not much, I know, but I really don’t have the money right now-”

He stopped me from blabbering with a hand on mine. I froze at the touch of his rough palm against the back of my hand. Brett’s hands had always been smooth. The scratch of Graham’s hand sent shivers through my body that settled between my thighs. The sudden, raw need shocked the hell out of me. I’d never wanted a man the way I wanted Graham at that moment. It made me want to pull back from him, but I couldn’t. Not when his green eyes brightened and implored me to let him speak.

“Dinner sounds great, Abby. It’s not necessary, but I’d love it.”

The last bit of tension inside me melted away and was replaced by desire. It made me dizzy. I had to pull myself together or I’d never survive a dinner with him. And I was definitely having dinner with him.

“Do you, um… How’s Saturday night?”

He smiled, a grin so big I could count almost all his perfectly straight teeth gleaming white against his dark skin. I had no choice but to smile back at him, especially when he said, “Perfect.”
