This week’s hook …
by Iris Blobel
And then there was the mother, who despite her shortness of breath and the obvious lack of fitness looked still incredible and that did something to him, which he wasn’t sure how to handle or even interpret.
The mother. He didn’t even know her name.
Holding out his hand, he said, “Jesse Parker. Nice meeting you.”
She looked up at him, and a slow smile spread across her face, but she ignored his hand. “Nice meeting you, too. More than nice, if I may say so. I’m Lexie and this is my daughter Zoe.”
Sliding his hand into his pants pocket, he turned to look at Zoe and said with a wink, “I’m not lecturing you, but please promise me not making a habit out of stopping strange cars.”
The girl nodded enthusiastically. “I promise.”
“Okay. Let’s get this roadkill off the road and then get you back to your car.” Jesse helped Lexie and her daughter into the car and then slid behind the steering wheel. While he started the engine, he considered starting a conversation, but decided against it. Nothing personal, but it’d been a busy day already, and he was too tired to come up with anything to say. They drove quietly along the forest road. It didn’t take him long until he located the dead kangaroo farther up the path. Shaking his head, he knew straight away it was a hit and run incident, with the driver leaving without moving the animal. He slowed and parked in front of it.
BLURB
She loves the feel of his skin beneath her hands …
Lexie Marshall packs up and moves 3,000 km east with her daughter Zoe, to forget and move on. Now, all that matters is her daughter and her new job. She tries hard to stay focussed, but the sexy and extremely kind park ranger, Jesse, is not making it easy. And when her husband shows up in the small coastal town creating chaos, all she can do is hang on and trust her new friends.
After his last girlfriend walked out on him, Jesse Parker is doing just fine on his own. Until his accidental meeting with single mother Lexie, when he rescues her and her daughter from getting lost in the forest. But when her past catches up with her, he is right in the middle of it all and it might ruin his career.
Will returning to her old life be the only chance to save his career?
A teasingly short snippet!
Thank you Lisabet 🙂
Interesting meeting. The dead kangaroo must lead to more.
Yes it does 😉 Thanks for stopping by Jan.
Intriguing blurb. Seems like the poor dead kangaroo is leading up to something. Thanks for sharing!
