Happy Sunday
Today’s snippet is again from my new story, which follows Piper and Jon.

THANK YOU
Today’s Snippet
She read it again. Was he flirting with her? Or showing honest concern? Had she cried that loud? Embarrassment shot through her again and it made her cry all over again. Good Lord, she was a mess. She returned to the kitchen bench and finished her tea before taking a tentative sip. Closing her eyes, she devoured the taste of the hot drink for a moment as it filled her body with a comforting warmth. How she hated to admit that her dad had been right when he’d warned her not to get involved with Darren. But she’d been head over heels in love and none of her father’s “gut feelings” had convinced her. She choked back a laugh as she remembered the many Christmases they’d spent at her parents’ home. They’d been married for over six years, happily married she thought, and each Christmas she let her dad know just how happy and successful her relationship with Darren had been. He’d climbed the promotion ladder, she’d been content in her position in the local veterinary practice, big house, big holidays, big cars … they’d had it all.
Until last week.
The subtle breeze coming through the window moved her neighbour’s note. Again, a smile formed on her lips and she reached for the notepad.
“Long story,” she muttered as she scribbled the words. “I’m sorry I broke your heart already so early in our … hmm … neighbour-relationship. It won’t happen again. I promise.”
Thanks for all your comments,
I do appreciate each single one of them!

NEW RELEASE
~~~ Touch Me ~~~
She loves the feel of his skin beneath her hands …
Lexie Marshall packs up and moves 3,000 km east with her daughter Zoe, to forget and move on. Now, all that matters is her daughter and her new job. She tries hard to stay focussed, but the sexy and extremely kind park ranger, Jesse, is not making it easy. And when her husband shows up in the small coastal town creating chaos, all she can do is hang on and trust her new friends.
After his last girlfriend walked out on him, Jesse Parker is doing just fine on his own. Until his accidental meeting with single mother Lexie, when he rescues her and her daughter from getting lost in the forest. But when her past catches up with her, he is right in the middle of it all and it might ruin his career.
Will returning to her old life be the only chance to save his career?
Enjoying the story and this was a great snippet. I feel for her!
Aww, thanks Veronica. 🙂
Last week is a very recent breakup. No wonder she’s upset.
Thank you Aurora 🙂
Nice bit of backstory tossed in. SO, her dad was right, and he turned out to be something different than she thought.
I like the note exchange. I think it’s real caring–and maybe a hopeful bit of flirting too. 🙂
I’m enjoying this story!
Thank you Teresa. Glad you like the story so far 🙂
Love the bit of backstory. Poor gal. I look forward to reading more.
Thanks Karen 🙂
Not having the book in front of me, I don’t know whether they’ve met yet. That could affect my reaction to this scene.
Ed, this is a WIP, and no, they haven’t met yet 🙂
I’m loving the note-passing.
🙂 Thank you ♥
