“Thanks. What’s your name, ma’am?”
“I’m Maddie. Actually, it’s Mandinka, but everyone calls me Maddie. Maddie Torres. And we’re stuck in a lift. In Alinta Bay. It’s in Victoria.”
Jonah cocked a brow and crossed his arms, a hint of amusement tugging at his lips despite the situation.
“The two of you and no one else?”
Jonah was certain the security person had to hold back on his mirth as well.
Maddie’s forehead creased into a frown, and she shot him a glare that wiped the amusement in an instant. Focussing on the panel, she responded, “Yes, just the two of us. Isn’t that enough?”
“Apologies, ma’am. It most certainly is.”
In an unexpected encounter, the lives of Jonah, a rescue diver from New Zealand, and Maddie, a spirited local, collide, forever altering their future.
Trapped together in a hotel lift, sparks fly between them, but Jonah’s past looms, casting a shadow over their fragile connection. Maddie, captivated by Jonah’s charisma, is determined to find him when he mysteriously misses their planned dinner. With a friend’s assistance, her search unveils a chilling discovery – Jonah unconscious on a cliff.
Navigating a sea of emotions, in order to find a future together, will Maddie and Jonah manage the challenges posed by their past secrets and present obstacles?
Nice little scene. I’ve never been stuck in a lift and hope never to be. 😀
Thanks, Heather 🙂 Fingers crossed, you never will !
I’m liking Jonah and his sense of humor more all the time.
Thank you, Suzi ♥
Trapped in an elevator? Nice setting for a romance, Iris, and very amusing to read. But just imagine being trapped with someone horrible, or a big hungry brown bear. Hmmmm, the big fuzzy brown bear doesn’t sound at all bad.
Thank you, Jill. Glad the sense of humour is coming across 🙂
He’d better wipe that smirk off his face…
LOL, it’s hard with Maddie in the same lift 😉
He’s got the right attitude to prevent panic. Me, I’d be chewing through walls!!
Me, too! If I should ever be stuck in a lift, I want him beside me 😉
I don’t blame her for begin upset and trying to give as much information as possible. It’s certainly not funny to her. I just hope they’ll be rescued soon. It would be nerve wracking to be trapped with a stranger. Tweeted.
Thank you, Jenna. It’s not a great situation for either of them, though his background has him better prepared for it 🙂
