Happy Sunday ♥
I hope you’re enjoying my latest WIP which is set near
Lake Tekapo, New Zealand.
She nodded, and he picked it up.
“What on earth are you doing in this part of the world without a car?” he asked out of curiosity, but also to keep the slow conversation going. She must’ve been tired. Not only the bus ride, but also the walk to the house.
“I’m hoping to meet someone.”
He stopped and looked over his shoulder. “Sort of?”
“He lives up here somewhere.”
“The person I’m hoping to meet.”
Scratching the back of his head, he kept walking until they reached her room. “May I ask who you’re hoping to meet around here?”
“I’d rather you wouldn’t.”
Dylan placed her bag onto the bed and slowly turned to meet her gaze. “I’m sorry this is awkward. I didn’t mean to be nosy but helpful, after all you’re going to be stuck without a vehicle.” He looked around. “Anyway, there are towels. The bathroom is over there. Here are the keys. TV is in the main room at the front including a computer. I believe the password is stuck on the screen. My number is…” Dylan pulled out a card. “On here. Call me any time.”
She pulled in her lips as she reached for his card. “I’ll be fine, but thanks.”
Her voice was soft, and there was still a lot of hesitation, most likely tiredness as well. It must have been a long day for her. “No offense, but I don’t believe you will be. I’m sure there’s some food around, but whoever you’re looking for, you will need some sort of vehicle.”
“He’s living around here. According to the map no further than a kilometre or two.”
Dylan pinched the bridge of his nose. “The only people living around here is me about five hundred metres down the road and Tobias Linecker.”
Her checks flushed, but she remained silent.

What an intriguing snippet – and such a beautiful picture, so calm and tranquil!
It’s a beautiful place indeed. Thanks for commenting, Hywela.
I’m tempted to say she’s the chap he’s looking for, but maybe not. If he were, why didn’t he say something?
No, he’s not who she’s looking for, but we should find out next week 🙂
Her silence is mysterious. Why doesn’t she want to tell him?
Well, it’s not that we open up to just anybody 😉 She will tell him eventually.
I think Dylan is right. Not for romantic reasons, but I would be reluctant to just drop someone off in the middle of nowhere.
In a way …. kinda … it’s NZ … still a very safe place .-) Thanks for stopping by !
Hmmm, all very mysterious and I admire the way he keeps a handle on his exasperation to be caught in such a conversation.
Thank you Veronica. Glad you liked the snippet. 🙂
I think he just figured out who she was looking for. 🙂
I think you’re right 😉
