This is still the story set in Tasmania, Leonie’s attempt to travel around the beautiful Australian state. Today’s snippet is in Alex’s POV.
Enjoy ♥

He cocked a brow, speechless at her comment.
“What did she say?” Hans wanted to know.
Pinching the bridge of his nose with his finger and thumb Alex tried his best to recall the conversation as best as possible. “Well, there was a comment of hopefully sooner rather than later when I told her I’d come to Binalong Bay as soon as Leonie moved on.”
His mother shrugged. “You’re asking her to clean your house for a stranger. A woman no less.”
Alex chewed on the piece of roast before he replied, “I’m not sure where you’re going with this.”
Hans let out a deep chuckle. “Your mum’s been listening too much to gossip. Apparently Jenny and her husband are having marital problems.”
“Say what?”
“I do not listen to gossip,” his mother protested. “But Jenny’s mother did tell me that Larry’s going to move out at the end of next month. And Jenny’s always been fond of you.”
Suddenly the very tasty roast left a sour taste in his mouth. Whether or not she’d been fond of him, how would that explain Jenny’s comments?
“I’ll be heading to Binalong tomorrow,” he explained as he stood.

Bernadette Franklin
Publication date: April 28th 2020
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

Arranging a wedding for her brother and a five-time thoroughbride tests Hope’s skills and patience. She’d believed the vows would be the most dangerous part of the ceremony, but a baseball to the head during the photography session proves her wrong and lands her in the sights of her brother’s best friend, Fredrick.

He wants her to plan his wedding.

She wants to be his bride.

Diving into the treacherous world of wedding planning, Hope keeps her word and arranges the vows for the one man she believes she could love. He doesn’t know how much she cherishes him and his friendship.

What she doesn’t know lands her in the heart of a royal mess.

EXCERPT:

A sensible woman would’ve been delighted to be her future sister-in-law’s maid of honor, as it implied cordial relationships or some sort of bullshit like that. I knew better.

I made an excellent scapegoat.

As the wedding party’s weakest link, everyone expected me to trip on my dress, maybe break an ankle along with my neck, or spill the entire wine fountain onto the floor. My brother claimed he loved me, but I believed he’d been the one to spread the rumor I was the world’s clumsiest woman.

When I secured my revenge, it would be sweet.

But first, I needed to survive my brother’s wedding without being responsible for a single hiccup. Playing to my brother’s misconceptions, I’d spent months tripping over nothing on purpose so I could transform myself into the image of traditional beauty and grace.

I’d even lost twenty pounds so my dress would fit.

The wedding would be a disaster, but I would emerge from the chaos smelling like roses, red wine, and garlic bread. Honestly, I doubted the wedding would make it to the reception.

Some weddings had bridezillas. We had a thoroughbride, and if she got it into her head to run, I wished my brother the best of luck catching her before she fled from the church. My proposal to have the wedding on a yacht, where my brother’s thoroughbride couldn’t escape, hadn’t earned me points with anyone.

The bride hated the ocean.

My brother was smart enough to catch onto my implication.

It wasn’t my fault Amy wasn’t exactly the most reliable woman in the world when it came to marriage. Once was a fluke. Twice was a trend. Five incidents of running from the wedding was evidence the thoroughbride would strike again, and my dear old brother would be saddled with the fifty thousand dollar bill, as he refused to believe Amy would run out on him.

Oh, no. Amy would never run out on him.

Happy Wednesday everyone.
I’d like to introduce you to book 2 in the Alinta Bay series
TELL IT TO MY HEART
which is now available on AMAZON for 99c .
I hope you’ll enjoy today’s “hook”.

Today’s Hook:

“Friggin’ stupid gutter,” she cursed. A sudden chuckle bubbled out as she remembered her husband had always told her about the importance to keep them clear. Shoulders slouched and head hanging low, she took a moment to recover from her grief. She missed him so much.
Exhaling a long breath, she picked herself up and rushed to the shed to get the ladder. With some difficulty, she placed it against the house wall and quickly rectified the problem, or at least as much as possible. Ten minutes later, the gutter was clean, although twelve hours too late. She looked down at herself after returning the ladder, sticky from sweat and drenched from head to toe. Yet, the sound of a car driving into her driveway put a little smile on her lips.
“Good morning,” Kristen greeted as she climbed out of her vehicle.
Molly had to hold back the urge to run into her friend’s arms to finally give into the tears. When Kristen held up a cup of coffee from the bakery in one hand and a croissant in the other, Molly gave in and choked back a sob.
“This is worse than I expected. I don’t think there’s much you can do except call the insurance company.”
Molly angled her head to the side, staring at her friend, mouth open.
“You haven’t called the insurance company yet, have you?”
She shook her head and pulled the wet T-shirt away from her body. “Do I look like I’ve been on the phone? I’ve just cleaned the gutter, which was the reason for the overflow.”
Kristen rolled her eyes. “You do know you’re supposed to clean the gutter before the rain, right?”

BLURB:

Confronted with the choice to care for his friend’s family on the other side of the world or to return to Alinta Bay to be with his own newfound family, how will Noah choose?

Following the death of his grandmother, Noah Fielding returns to Alinta Bay and the first thing — or person — he finds is the next-door neighbour in his nan’s bathroom — naked no less. Still jetlagged, he doesn’t hit it off with Molly at first. Yet, over the next few weeks, as his past uncovers itself bit by bit, she becomes is anchor, his friend, and his lover.

Molly Reid had the world at her feet, happily married with a young son … until a tragic car accident took everything away from her. With her heart broken, she moves to Alinta Bay to escape the memories of the past. Her peaceful existence, however, is interrupted after a heavy storm floods her house and she temporarily moves into her recently deceased neighbour’s house next door.

When Noah’s friend and partner goes missing during a routine flight, Noah returns to Alaska to help, but will he come back for Molly?

Had it been a mistake to let Leonie stay in his house?
The rattling of cooking pots downstairs reminded him that it was close to dinner time. Following the smell of a wonderful home cooked meal, he joined his parents in the dining room only a few minutes later.
“Perfect timing, darling.” His mother placed a dinner plate in front of him when his father held up a bottle of red wine.
He gave his dad a quick nod as he picked up the cutlery. “Thanks, Mum. Nothing like a nice roast and vegetables.”
As Hans poured the wine, he asked, “Have you heard from your lovely guest resident?”
Alex coughed, the last piece of carrot stuck in his throat. “What do you mean, resident?” he croaked in between more coughs. “She’s a visitor that’s all.” He blew out a breath as he leaned back into the chair.
“What’s wrong, son?”
With a quick move, he gave a shrug. “Nothing really. I talked to Jenny. Can’t put my finger on it. It’s just a few comments she made.”
His mother took a quick sip of her wine when she waved off his worries. “She’s always been jealous of the women in your life.”
He cocked a brow, unable to reply to her comment.

Happy Wednesday everyone.

TELL IT TO MY HEART

Today’s Hook:

Cautiously, she padded through the house and checked out the extent of the damage. Fortunately, so far there was damage in the front entrance only as well as her front room and the ensuite bathroom. But then she found more. Farther back in the house, the spare bathroom was flooded as well. Walking past the laundry, she heard the sound she was seeking but hoped not to hear. She stepped into the cold part of the house and saw the small gap in the door through which the water was trickling.
Annoyance rushed through her that she hadn’t seen the leak when she’d come in here to get her boots. Slapping a hand on her forehead, she cursed under her breath as she grabbed all the towels she could find in the linen cupboard. A shiver ran through her body. She was cold despite the already warm summer air seeping through the house. Helpless, she focussed on the situation, trying hard not to give in to the threatening tears.
Where was Kristen?
With her hands gripping her head, she looked around to figure out what to do next. More instinctively than anything else, she grabbed some towels and opened windows and doors to let in the heat. Then she went outside, walked around the house to check the damage from outside the laundry door. Fortunately, the problem was easy to fix.

This is still the story set in Tasmania, Leonie’s attempt to travel around the beautiful Australian state. Today’s snippet is in Alex’s POV.
Enjoy ♥

Alex headed upstairs in his parents’ house to his old childhood room. A chuckle escaped his lips as he took in the freshly made bed with the old racing cars sheets. The walls were still covered with the posters he’d hung up as a child. Of course, his mother asked him during every visit whether it was time to change the room, but he declined. He liked the memories it brought back to him. Writing crime books, he enjoyed the simple innocence the room represented.
He threw his bag on the two seater sofa in the corner before he reached for his phone.
“Jenny. How are you,” he asked when she’d answered the call.
“Hello Alex. How are you? I heard you’re in Tassie. Coming this way, too?”
He sat on his bed and crossed his legs as he leaned against the headrest. “I’m okay, probably coming over depending on how long Leonie is staying.”
“So who the hell is she?”
Surprised by the tone in her voice, he blinked a couple of times before finally explaining, “Met her today on the way home from the airport. Long story. I take it she’s arrived safely.”
The brief pause in the conversation made him curious and he was about to ask, when she replied, “Yes, she’s here. All safe and sound, enjoying the view on the porch. I’m thinking about heading over with a bottle of read later on.”
“Where’s hubby?”
“On the road. I’m desperate for some company.”
He chuckled. “Enjoy the red. I might head over once Leonie moves on.”
“Well I hope that’s going to happen soon.”
Again, taken aback by her comment, he said his goodbye and hung up. Staring out the window, he recalled his conversation with Jenny.
Had it been a mistake to let Leonie stay in his house?
