The blog is open today for everyone to post a purchase link to

I’m currently reading: “Sweetheart Cove” by Jacquie Biggar

My favourite book (still) is: Cecelia Ahern “If you could see me now”

If you’d like to give a new series a try, check out my Beginnings stories with NEW BEGINNINGS as the first book. The story is about the Levesque girls who inherit a house in Hobart from someone they’ve never heard of!

Happy Wednesday everyone. I’ve decided to move on to another book I’d like to share with you. It’s an older one, the second book in my Australian Sports Stars Series. “Let Me Love You” is Oliver’s story. ENJOY ♥

Today’s Hook:

“Who said I’m interested?”
That seemed to throw him somewhat. Eyes wide open, he stared at her. It made her smile.
He raked his hand through his hair. “Sure? I could show you Melbourne’s favourite sights.”
Now she had to laugh. “I’m sure you could.” “Damn that Erik. I need to have a good word with him on Thursday.”
“No,” she nearly screamed. “You can’t tell him.”
Trouble with her uncle was the last thing she wanted, the gossip would flow right back to her parents and then she’d be treated like a teenager being warned to stay away from the bad boys. She sighed. Her parents had let her move to Melbourne, but she knew they worried. Stories about her spending time with one of the baseball players was the last thing she needed them to hear. Then she felt his hand under her chin, and with a soft touch of his finger, he lifted her head. Meeting his gaze, her whole body was on alert. But he didn’t say anything. Studying her face, he stood there as a long silence engulfed them both.
“You’re tense,” he said matter-of-factly.
Tense wasn’t the word for what she was. She was beyond tense. Strung like an archery bow was more like it. But he was like forbidden fruit.

BLURB:

Oliver Dempsey, pitcher for a Melbourne baseball club, loves the women, and they love him…
But he keeps them at an arm’s length, and when he meets Tamara, he’s unprepared for the attraction he feels for her. Told by his coach that she’s off limits, only draws him in more.

Tamara Amis moved to Melbourne to find some distance between her past and herself…
With the help of her uncle, the coach of a Melbourne baseball club, she quickly finds a job, and a place to live. Yet, one meeting with the handsome pitcher stirs unexpected emotions that threaten to overwhelm her.

It’s Oliver’s injury that brings them together, but as they find out about each other’s pasts, how can they be ready to share a future?

“This blood-pumping novel will keep the reader hooked until the very end.” InD’tale Magazine

“Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this wonderful book and fall in love.” (5 star review)

Mat is a sexy, tattooed New Zealander with a strong sense of family and duty and Tiffany is a woman with a past that continues to haunt her. Can Mat help her overcome her demons and move on with the next phase of her life? Come for the romance and stay for the breathtaking scenery. (5 star review)

4 stars – NEW BEGINNINGS is a very emotional read, one that is heartwarming as well as heart wrenching. It gives you hope in the act of human kindness and that good things do happen to good people. I highly recommend this book.

Thanks to everyone stopping by last week and a special thanks to those who left a comment. I really appreciate it.
I’m re-posting a story which I started a many years ago. It’s written in first POV, which has been a challenge to say the least. So, some of you may know the story already, but I’d appreciate constructive critique ☺

Enjoy ♥

After a while I just give up. The “human traffic” has stopped, but dinner (or is it lunch time?) is about to be served. I make an effort and re-read Grandma’s next diary entry. She must’ve had a bad day, because her handwriting wasn’t the best that day. I curse myself for not having listened to Mum better when she tried to teach me Fraktur, but in all fairness, how was I supposed to know that I’d need it one day. Back then, it felt like a dead language to me. Not language, but you know what I mean. Dead alphabet.
“I heard from Konrad again today. His letters are such a light in these miserable days nowadays. Me and the children stayed in the cellar most of the day because of the bomb attacks. He’s in Greece. I read the letter to the children as he described the scenery and the sea. The blue of the water must’ve taken his breath away. I wish I could be there with him. Still, I wish I could just BE with him. I miss him.”

Thanks for all your comments,
I do appreciate each single one of them!

Happy Wednesday everyone. I’ve decided to move on to another book I’d like to share with you. It’s an older one, the second book in my Australian Sports Stars Series. “Let Me Love You” is Oliver’s story. ENJOY ♥

Today’s Hook:

He’s trouble! They were the last words she’d wanted to hear, especially as she’d run into Oliver twice afterwards. She tried so hard to avoid him, no wonder he thought she was a bitch. And a challenge. Tamara let out a long, slow breath before she replied, “Yes, Erik warned me about you.”
His eyebrows shot up. “I’m a nice guy!” he reasoned.
Another smile tugged at her lips. “Yes, although according to my uncle, too nice at times.”
Oliver shook his head. “Wanna join me for a drink?” he asked, his voice husky.
It sent shivers down her spine. Yes! she thought, but heard herself say, “Thank you for the invite, but I’m honestly very tired. Everything in my life’s kind of new at the moment, and it’s draining to adjust.”
His eyes searched hers. “I knew you could be nice,” he said with a big smirk on his face. “Will you take a raincheck?”
Shaking her head, she said, “No thanks. I’d rather not.”
“Because of Erik?”
“That too.”
He stepped closer, and everything inside her tensed. As much as her body had enjoyed the previous five minutes, in the end the urge to step back won. She heaved a big sigh.
“You need to give me a chance,” he whispered.
“Who said I’m interested?”

I move awkwardly around the lady, who desperately tries to keep that smile on her face as I step on her feet at least twice, but in the end, I do get what I was looking for in my bag “up above”. Grandma’s diary. Time for a bit more snooping.
Once I’m seating again, the nice flight attendant gets me something to drink and a snack as I try to get the hang of reading the old German again. As I grab the water, I glance past the lady next to me and see the guy across the aisle staring towards me. Instinctively, I look around, but no, he’s really looking at me. A smile tugs at my lips when I see him smiling at me.
“Where are you heading?” he asks as the flight attendant moves on.
I lean forward and the nice lady next to me leans back. Her smile saying everything. Everything as in, Yeah, he’s cute!
“I’m heading to Frankfurt,” I reply.
“So am I,” he says, his smile turning into a grin.
And then we get interrupted by a long line of people coming past. I patiently wait, as one person after the other moves past, my head bobbing from side to side desperate not to lose eye contact. But it’s near impossible. Itching to talk more to the guy, I keep glancing over again and again, but then I try to settle my nerves by focussing back on the book.
I had no idea “human traffic” can be so intense on a flight.

SHORT BLURB:

Two people trying to escape their pasts find a connection through an old house—and fulfill a destiny through the secrets it shares. Part love story, part ghost story, Lacewood is a timeless novel about trusting in fate, letting go of the past, and believing in things that can’t be seen.

SHORT EXCERPT:

Turning in a circle, Katie studied the room again. Faded wallpaper curled and peeled above the dusty wainscoting, but the walls themselves appeared sturdy. On the far side of the entryway, and dominating the wall, stood a mammoth fireplace with an ornately carved hearth. Her attention was immediately drawn to a painting of a woman in nineteenth century dress that hung prominently over the mantel.

“Who is she?”

The sheriff turned to the dusty, sun-bleached portrait in the heavy carved guilt frame. “One of the previous owners, they say.” He shrugged. “The family history kind of got lost with the house. Everyone around here calls her the Widow of Lacewood.”

Katie stood spellbound. The woman was clothed completely in black, but the magnificence of the gown gave the impression of sophistication and class. Her chin was slightly elevated as if to project strength, yet there was more than a hint of sorrow and pain in her eyes.

“She looks so sad.” Katie spoke without removing her gaze. “And so young. How could she be a widow?”

The sheriff had already started to walk away, but he turned back and glanced at the painting. “Not sure, but they say she never remarried. She’s the one out in the cemetery, too, I reckon.”

Katie’s heart suddenly struggled to beat. The anguish in the woman’s eyes kept her riveted. She could see the pain. Feel a heart ripped apart. Something was missing that could never be replaced. Katie had felt such loss before. In a way, that’s why she was here.

“You coming?”

With one quick glance back before turning to follow the sheriff, Katie noticed particles of dust now swirled and danced in a shaft of light, almost like a living thing. Her breath caught in her throat as the dust seemed to materialize into the form of a woman, her eyes dull with the same tortured despair and disbelief as the one in the portrait.

Katie jerked her head around for a closer look and blinked. The woman was gone.

Happy Wednesday everyone. I’ve decided to move on to another book I’d like to share with you. It’s an older one, the second book in my Australian Sports Stars Series. “Let Me Love You” is Oliver’s story. ENJOY ♥

Today’s Hook:

How dare he?
First, she was a challenge, now she was jumpy? “I am not jumpy,” she replied as calmly as possible.
Meeting her gaze dead on, he let out a long breath. “Look, I’m not sure what Coach Becker’s told you about me, but I’m not a bad person.”
The fact that he’d thought her defiance was about him made her smile.
Tilting his head, he grinned. “Well, whatta ya know. You should do that more often. It suits you.”
“Oliver,” she emphasised his name. “My uncle has not said a word about you. You’re giving yourself too much credit.”
“Why the hostility? I saw it before, you can be  nice.”
She looked away, trying to focus on something in the distance, anything to avoid looking into his eyes. She watched a couple taking their shoes off to dip their toes into the water. Tamara sighed, now staring at her feet, because she knew if she met his gaze, she could so easily melt into those eyes. A little chuckle escaped her. Of course, her uncle had warned her about Oliver.
“Stay away from him. He’s trouble,” he’d said. Right after telling her what a great talent Oliver had and how much he wished Oliver to be less loyal to Australia so he could make it big in the States. Apparently, Oliver wanted none of it.
“Why,” she’d asked. The obvious question.
“Women love him and he loves them. And as soon as he’s had enough of them, he throws them away.”
She’d expected an answer referring to Oliver’s loyalty to Australia and wasn’t sure what to make of her uncle’s reply. Her scars were still fresh, but with her move to Melbourne, she had promised herself to open up again. That day she’d seen Oliver coming off the field her whole body had responded—his eyes, the muscles under his tight shirt, his smile, and the sound of his voice. She’d nearly melted away right there next to her uncle. Tamara wasn’t looking for another marriage, but she missed a man’s hand on her skin. The feeling of being touched and caressed. She missed being hugged and ached for the simple feeling of having someone around her. But how could she even have these thoughts, these cravings without cheating on Jason?

BLURB:
