Hi everyone ♥

Today’s Snippet

“Alaska? Mrs. Fielding always told me about California.”

“Couldn’t stand the place. I reckon I was there for about eight or nine months before I settled in Alaska.”

The kettle whistled at the same time as her phone rang. She checked the ID. “My apologies. This is business. I have to take the call.”

It didn’t bother him at all. The chitchat thing wasn’t for him anyway. California, he thought as he heaved a massive sigh.

California.

Sadness shrouded him and killed the chuckle in his throat. It’d been thirteen years since he’d left and his grandmother hadn’t known he now called Alaska home. Lowering his head, he closed his eyes and rode out a wave of anguish. He’d let her down. Failed her. After all she had done for him, he’d packed up and left. Never contacted her. God knows how often he’d picked up the phone but hung up again not knowing what to say. Now he wished he had. He’d give anything to get the chance again. So many things, but most of all the three simple words: I love you.

He took deep breaths until he was strong enough to raise his head and a thought entered his mind: How the hell had they found him?

Blurb

Confronted with the choice to care for his friend’s family on the other side of the world or to return to Alinta Bay to be with his own newfound family, how will Noah choose?

Following the death of his grandmother, Noah Fielding returns to Alinta Bay and the first thing — or person — he finds is the next-door neighbour in his nan’s bathroom — naked no less. Still jetlagged, he doesn’t hit it off with Molly at first. Yet, over the next few weeks, as his past uncovers itself bit by bit, she becomes is anchor, his friend, and his lover.

  1. I felt that. I know that burning feeling. I lost my sister two years ago this June. There are so many things I wish I had said but didn’t. We spent a couple hours on the phone about two weeks before she passed, and while we talked endlessly about the past and growing up; there were things that I knew I should’ve said, but didn’t. There was always next time.

    1. The “if only” of life. Too many of them, I’m afraid.
Sorry to hear about your sister.
