Today’s Snippet
Logan’s heart broke seeing his son in so much pain, and he wished there was a simple solution to help him.
“I’ll put the kettle on,” he heard Graham saying and turned to follow everyone into the kitchen.
Graham’s wife, Lisa, had returned with some bread for sandwiches, and they sat at the table as Graham organised a few snacks for everyone. With Nick on his lap, Harrison retold what had happened over the previous days. Logan watched Kristen move restlessly on her chair, repeatedly taking deep breaths to settle her emotions he guessed.
His son’s voice was tired when he asked, “Was he in pain?”
Harrison shook his head. “Not sure about the actual heart attack, but once he was in hospital, he simply closed his eyes and fell asleep peacefully.”
Nick’s arms around his neck tightened, and Logan knew his son wanted to cry some more but was out of tears. Lethargy had kicked in.

Sometimes one has to break rules in order to find happiness…
Widower Logan Hendrix is puzzled by the recent series of small crimes against his son’s new teacher. It’s a mystery to him, and he offers her his help. There’s an instant attraction, and Logan wants to take their parent/teacher relationship to a more personal level.
It doesn’t take Addison Ryker long to fall in love with Alinta Bay, the small town she’s moved to for her new teaching position at the local primary school. Her newfound haven is threatened, however, when her house is broken into and she is relying on the unbelievably stubborn but very sexy Logan for help. Although captivated by him, Addison worries her career could be compromised, because there are rules about dating a parent.

At some point in the grieving process there are simply no more tears to be shed. At least they have the family together to comfort one another. The best you can hope for in these situations. Another excellent, emotion provoking snippet! Tweeted.
Thank you, Jenna, for the RT as well 🙂
A well done emotional scene.
Thank you, Kate 🙂
A heartbreaker for sure! You capture their devastation so well.
Thank you, Nancy. Appreciated. 🙂
Glad family is around to cope with the emotions shared. Great snippet.
Thank you, Jeff 🙂
It’s a delicate balance to write about grief and not become so mired in the emotion you cannot continue with the story. Well done and I look forward to reading more in the coming weeks.
Thank you Sue 🙂
