For the next ten minutes she wandered through the house and checked the doors and windows. It was a beautiful house and the owner had decorated it tastefully like a mountain log cabin style. It was built and furnished with mainly wood. And she loved it. The rooms for spacious, most of them having a window bench to enjoy the view, and a cosy little bathroom. The fireplace was the centrepiece of the living room. Suddenly the thought of a cold night popped in her mind, but she remembered seeing a panel heater in her room. She had to check that out before she’d go to bed. She went back into the kitchen for her belated cup of tea and wandered upstairs where she found another two rooms. Loft rooms. She stepped over to the window and despite the darkness she was able to see the mountains in the distance. The snow glittered like diamonds under the starry night. It was almost hypnotising.

“FRESH BEGINNINGS” by Iris Blobel #Romance #oneclick #Bookreview #Kindleunlimited

~~  Fresh Beginnings ~~
by Iris Blobel

Amazon – 4 stars
It follows the love story of Jared Fraser and Ivy Bennett. Fraser is heading off on holiday from Hobart in Australia to America for his first holiday overseas and he is quite a workaholic it seems so this is a big deal for him to do. On the way he meets Bennett who is hitchhiking after leaving her boyfriend. This book quickly gets emotional with Bennett’s storyline with her mother who she hasn’t seen in years and her ongoing feelings for Fraser. But Bennett isn’t the only one with issues. Fraser is secretly wrecked with guilt about his previous relationship. His former girlfriend was seriously injured in a car accident after a row over him not wanting to marry her and live with her instead. Personally I could understand where he was coming from. After all in this generation most people do live together and they are just as committed as married couples. But I still liked the former girlfriend. She seemed a nice person in many ways even if she was controlling and tried to pressure Fraser into marriage by guilt-tripping. It would have been so much better if they had just agreed they wanted different things and left each other but then that wouldn’t have added half as much drama to the story so kudos to the writer on that one. “

Jared Fraser, a landscape business owner in Hobart, Australia, sets out for a holiday to the USA to travel along the Route 66 in a motorhome. Looking forward to his first holiday overseas, he’s excited as he prepares himself for the journey. But little could’ve prepared him for crossing paths with a beautiful hitchhiker.

Will he be able to put his past aside and grab onto happiness?

Ivy Bennett thought leaving her boyfriend would be the hard part. It doesn’t take long to figure out how wrong she was. As she struggles with making a new start in her life, the last person she expects to lead her to happiness is a laid-back Australian on vacation.

But she will have to say goodbye again? And not only to Jared.

♥♦♥  EXCERPT ♥♦♥

Ivy enjoyed being with Jared. During their drive towards the Grand Canyon he told her of his home and described as much of Tasmania as possible.
“I always imagined Australia to be hot with white beaches and beautiful water.”
“That’s up in the north in Queensland,” he explained. “We have spectacular beaches as well. Tasmania is a small island in the very south. The last step before the Antarctica, so to speak.”
“That sounds cold!”
He laughed. “It clearly isn’t Queensland.” Settling his gaze on her, he continued, “But it has beautiful beaches as well. And a wonderful marine life. And the mountains. We have some stunning mountains in Tassie.”
“Tassie?”
“Tasmania.”
“It sounds beautiful.”
He agreed. “Yes, it is. One of the best places on earth.”
Once they arrived at the National Park, they found a parking spot and walked towards the edge of the Canyon. She touched his arm to get his attention. Not that she needed to. His attentive nature drew her to him, and she couldn’t get enough of listening to him.
“I feel bad that you pay for everything,” she said in a low voice.
Jared waved his hand. “Nah. It’s only money and luckily the Australian dollar is—”
“Whether you can or can’t afford it, it doesn’t matter. I don’t like it.”
He stopped and turned towards her, causing heat inside her body. Her breath caught but she kept walking, yet, it took him only a few steps to catch up with her and, by way of placing his hand on her shoulder, to stop her.
“Wanna tell me why?”
Avoiding his stare, she lifted her shoulder in a casual shrug.
“A shrug is not really an answer, ya know that, right?”
Yes, she knew that. How could she tell him that she’d left Dylan because he’d spent all the money she’d worked so hard for? She didn’t want to be in the same situation, as in spending someone else’s hard-earned money. But deep inside she didn’t want to hurt Jared, either. She was enjoying her time with him so much, she wasn’t ready for it to end because of some silly pride.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a little squirrel in the bushes and despite some guilt inside, it was a perfect distraction.
“Look!” she said louder than she’d intended. “A squirrel.”
With great relief, she noticed how her devious plan had worked. Jared quickly grabbed his camera and kneeled down to get the best shot possible of this little creature.
Kneeling next to him, she asked, “Don’t you have squirrels?”
Still trying to get that perfect photo of the little creature, he whispered, “Nope.”

About RAINSTORM

People say when you’re dying your entire life passes before your eyes.
But it is not my time.
I’m not about to take my final breath.
Although it feels like the end of my life.
The blue folder sits, stamped with bold black letters.
Laughing at me. Mocking my marriage. Targeting my dream.
All is going away, imploding. The future I’ve envisioned becoming just debris.
The man I love requesting a divorce.
Making me collapse.
Drowning in an ocean of pain and confusion, I refuse to let this end my life.
This is hard, but I’m stronger.
The rainstorm is hitting me full force, but I’ll stand.
After all, I’m the woman who owns the sunshine.

#MFRWHooks “Please don’t.” #books #amreading

Happy Wednesday everyone.
… and welcome September … SPRING at this end of the world. Can’t wait for some warmer weather.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed last week’s snippet from “Echoes of the Past“. Today I’d like “to hook you” with a teaser from “Journey to her Dreams“.
ENJOY ♥

Today’s Hook:

Her body trembled. With angst choking her, she begged him, “Please don’t.”
He took her hands and lifted them over her head as he pressed his body against hers. “Come on, baby. Don’t be like that,” he insisted, tracing her jaw with his lips. “It’s been a while.”
“Please stop. I’m really tired,” she pleaded as she tried to pull her hands out of his.
He looked at her with a slight grin. “Baby, you’re always tired.”
Her efforts to push him away were in vain. His tight grip around her wrists didn’t give her a chance to move out of his arms. Disappointed by him, she dropped her head, denying him her lips.
“I love you, sweetheart,” he murmured.
She was barely able to speak and each word she spoke hurt her throat. “Please,” she begged again, nearly sobbing. “Please don’t.”
He lowered his head, flicking her earlobe with his tongue. “Baby, I want you.”
She knew then she was fighting in vain. He wasn’t going to listen. With his body pressed against hers, his breathing became heavier. Turning her head away even more from him, she closed her eyes as pain shot through her body.

BLURB:

There must be a reason for her dreams…

Hollie Anderson, a young woman living in Tasmania, is content with life, even more so since she has met Jeremy. However, she has been having a recurrent dream that impacts her daily life, as well as her relationship, a dream that eventually takes her on a journey to Ireland.

Samantha Shaughnessy enjoys the success as Head of Advertising for a popular magazine in the Irish capital Dublin. Married to Padraic, she thinks she loves her husband, but when she meets Hollie under unusual circumstances, she needs to face the truth–and not just about her marriage.

When both women meet and find they share an unexpected tie to the past, will they finally be able to move on into relationships with the men they love?

“This blood-pumping novel will keep the reader hooked until the very end.” InD’tale Magazine

“Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this wonderful book and fall in love.” (5 star review)

Mat is a sexy, tattooed New Zealander with a strong sense of family and duty and Tiffany is a woman with a past that continues to haunt her. Can Mat help her overcome her demons and move on with the next phase of her life? Come for the romance and stay for the breathtaking scenery. (5 star review)

4 stars – NEW BEGINNINGS is a very emotional read, one that is heartwarming as well as heart wrenching. It gives you hope in the act of human kindness and that good things do happen to good people. I highly recommend this book.

Her soft laugh was hardly a sound, but pure. Not only had she piqued his curiosity by wanting to see Toby but also she intrigued him as well. “I’ll be here at eight o’clock. Please lock the doors after me.”
Brows raised, she stared at him, but even though she hadn’t been rude and was perfectly safe here, he wanted to spike her curiosity as well.

***

Lani watched Dylan leave, still unsure about him. True, she had definitely been a reason for their awkward conversation, but not only was she tired, she hadn’t expected her current situation either. Situation as in being on her own in a decent sized house in the middle of nowhere New Zealand. Who could blame her for being somewhat out of sorts? She rubbed her face and let out a little scream before she headed to the front door to lock it. Who the hell was coming so far to steal something? Then again, who wouldn’t? No nosy neighbours to watch the house.
And she let out another scream cursing Dylan for putting the seed of worry into her head.

Happy Wednesday everyone.
“Echoes of the Past” is still only 99c on Amazon so I thought I’d share a teaser today.
Enjoy ♥

Today’s Hook:

“It wasn’t the perfect upbringing,” he said suddenly.
She tugged a strand of hair behind her ear, trying hard not to let her emotions get the best of her.
With a shrug, he added, “But it is what it is, and I cannot change it.”
Not sure how to respond, she stayed quiet.
He placed his knife and fork on the plate as well and pushed it away. “I’ve been wondering for the last couple of days how life would’ve been if Mum and I hadn’t left. But I cannot complain. I received a good education, a great job, some good friends, and a neat little house outside London.” He looked up at her. “Life’s not always wrapped up in some fancy, colourful wrapping paper, but it’s still a gift worth treasuring.”

BLURB:

When Connor Walsh, a business lawyer in London, receives news that his estranged father is terminally ill, he returns to Fermosa Bay, a little coastal town in Australia. With the memories of his childhood years tucked away in the back of his mind, he finds his father and kindergarten friends rallying around to remind him of the past. But he’s unprepared for the growing attraction he feels for Emily, and it doesn’t take long for Connor to feel regret that his life could have been so much different.

Emily Bradshaw has waited for over twenty years to see Connor again. And although he can’t remember her, let alone their first kiss, her childhood crush is still in full swing. Eager to pick up where they left off as children, she’s determined to enjoy the short time he is in Fermosa Bay, accepting her heart will break when he returns to his life in London.

Will the echoes of the past lure him into staying in Fermosa Bay?

Her checks flushed, but she remained silent.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re here to see Toby?”
He tried to suppress the laugh, but failed.
“I can’t see anything funny in what I’ve said or in this case haven’t said.”
“May I ask the reason you want to see Toby?”
Lani stepped to the bed and reached for her bag. “I’d rather you don’t.”
“I have a spare ute you can use for the next few days so you’re not stuck up here. I’ll bring it by tomorrow.” He turned to leave but stopped. “And good luck with Toby. You’ll need it.”
Eyes wide, she asked, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
How was he supposed to answer? He didn’t know so he left the room without replying.
“Wait!”
He blew out a breath and stopped at the touch of her hand on his arm.
“I was taught manners, but I’m dead on my feet. It’s been a long day and this…” She waved her hand a little. “…is not what I expected.” Removing her other hand from him, she continued. “Will you stay for breakfast tomorrow morning?”
Slowly raising his left brow, he replied, “Wasn’t part of the deal, but my curiosity is piqued.”
