TODAY’S SNIPPET:
“All good. How are you? Is Mum around?”
“Lisa left less than five minutes ago. With Melody. She’s back in town.”
He clenched his jaw tight, John’s words sinking in like a knife. “I know.”
“I believe they’ve gone to your parents’ place.”
Rolling his eyes, Harrison lifted his hand to say thanks and left. This time his destination was his childhood home. He cursed remembering that Logan had given him a lift earlier this morning, and now he was without a car. He would get his exercise after all.
It took him a bit less than twenty minutes to walk up the hill and towards the end of the street to get to the family home he’d grown up in. His family had lived in the small house, which was situated at the very far end of the cul-de-sac since he could remember — and possibly even longer. His grandparents and their parents had already lived in the old house. It’d been one of the first houses built in Alinta Bay according to the library history books. His father, Graham, tried his best with the upkeep, but Harrison’s cousin, Logan the builder in the family, often told him it required some looking after. The window frames were in need of a new coat of paint and so was the front door, however, what the house lacked in maintenance, the yard made up for it. Lisa loved her flowers, especially the colourful rose bushes all along the front yard and daylilies along the path and fence. They were his mother’s pride and joy and looked sensational when in full bloom. Harrison looked up and saw the carport empty and assumed that his dad enjoyed the Sunday out with his friends on the fishing boat. He knocked at the door and waited.
“Lisa left less than five minutes ago. With Melody. She’s back in town.”
