TODAY’S SNIPPET:
He knocked at the door and waited.
Silence, so he knocked again.
Unnecessary worry rushed through him. Why? He had no clue, because bottom line was that Melody was a thief and not a murderer. But still, there was something unnerving about the fact that she’d returned and had gone straight to his mother. He moved back a step, about to reach for his mobile in his pocket when she finally opened the door.
“Hello, darling. What a surprise. Come in.”
Harrison closed the door behind him and followed her to the kitchen. His mother was in her mid-fifties, and as much as she was starting to show the odd grey hair and the face wrinkled in all the right places, her eyes still radiated youth and passion for life
“You wouldn’t believe who’s here.” Her cheery voice nearly made him sick. He never understood how she was able to be so forgiving. Must’ve been a mother’s instinct, who knew?
Despite all the anger and frustration inside him, he made an effort to maintain the nonchalance in his voice. “Melody.”
She stopped to look at him. “How did you know?”
Her face lit up and she treated him to a massive smile. He wasn’t sure, though, whether it was surprise or happiness. Or cheekiness? He wasn’t able to tell and although very close to his mother, reading her was like interpreting the novels he’d read back at school — near impossible.
“I saw her leaving the bus. That’s why I’m here.”
“Oh.” A grin spread across her face. “I always knew you liked her.”
Harrison rubbed his hands over his face. Why was everyone convinced that he liked her? He didn’t and never had. “I. Do. Not. Like. Her.”
Waving her hand, she continued walking to the kitchen, letting out a soft laugh. “Of course you do.”
“Why is everyone saying that?”
BLURB:
Can two seemingly incompatible people who judge each other on past events be able to find some common ground?
Harrison Hendrix believes in second chances, but when it comes to Melody, he has every reason to doubt it’s possible. He’s conflicted when he sees her back in town and tries his best to see the change in her that other friends mention. Even more so when spending a night with her after being set up for a dinner date.
Life hasn’t been kind to Melody Foster, and she returns to Alinta Bay for a new beginning. Hit by tragedy again, she’s determined to live life to the fullest and with no regrets. She creates a bucket list … on wlynn receives help him decide what to do?

My husband and I used to get asked how long we’d been married — and we’d just started dating. People put us together long before we actually recognized that we belonged there.
If it’s meant to be it’s meant to be !! Lucky you, to have found the right person you clicked with straight away … 🙂

— Great excerpt, Iris. Sometimes people can be very blind.
Thank you, Lisabet. Glad you liked it! 🙂
I love this – everyone sees how much he likes Melody, except he can’t get out of his own way to see it himself. We’ve all been there!
Oh absolutely … and then suddenly the penny drops 😉 🙂
Thanks for stopping by James.
Nothing like an interfering mother to get a romance started!
LOL – so true 😀
Mothers know best!
Always !! 😀
For him to be so vehement of not liking her, it’s proof that he does! 🙂 Great excerpt.
I agree 🙂
Glad you liked it.
Me thinks the man doth protest too much.
Me thinks you might be right 😉 😀
