TODAY’S SNIPPET:
“I know… miracles do happen.” She put as much sarcasm as she was able to into her words, sick of being reminded of her old self and sick of having to explain herself all the time. But then again, as much as she disliked the situation, she knew he had a reason not to trust her.
She stood and took the cup to the sink. “If you don’t mind, I’ll take my bag upstairs and then have a little stroll along the beach. I’ve missed it so much.”
“How long are you staying?”
Her gaze went out the window again. Forever was on the tip of her tongue, but without looking at him, she avoided his question, because she knew exactly what he was asking. “With your parents or in Alinta Bay?”
“Both, I suppose.”
With a shrug, she turned and their eyes met again. “I’ve changed. Who knows? Perhaps people here have changed as well. Let’s wait and see how things turn out.” And without waiting for his reply, she left the kitchen, grabbed her bag in the hall, and went upstairs to the little attic apartment. She’d come to love it during her previous stay here. It hadn’t changed as if Lisa had known she would return one day. The main room and the kitchen were an open plan space with access to a very small roof terrace where she’d often sat planning her life. There was a tiny bedroom and an even smaller bathroom, but it was all she needed. And all she’d come to treasure.
Melody stepped into the apartment and closed the door behind her taking a deep breath as she threw her bag onto the sofa. Then she walked over to the window and opened it to let the fresh, although very cool, air in.
Yes, it was good to be back.
Despite Harrison.
BLURB:
Can two seemingly incompatible people who judge each other on past events be able to find some common ground?
Harrison Hendrix believes in second chances, but when it comes to Melody, he has every reason to doubt it’s possible. He’s conflicted when he sees her back in town and tries his best to see the change in her that other friends mention. Even more so when spending a night with her after being set up for a dinner date.
Life hasn’t been kind to Melody Foster, and she returns to Alinta Bay for a new beginning. Hit by tragedy again, she’s determined to live life to the fullest and with no regrets. She creates a bucket list … on which #8 the very difficult, yet extremely sexy Harrison has been included. Why does it seem he’s always around when she’s in trouble?
Maybe it’s time to take a risk and leave the past where it belongs, but will trusting their instinct be the right choice for them?

Ouchies. She’s really not happy about Harrison!
No, she isn’t. They have a “history” 😉
Small town romance is such fun! The characters keep tripping over each other, and it forces them to confront their issues. This one looks great!
Thank you, Katherine 🙂
Your description is so lovely! I’m standing in Melody’s shoes as I view the apartment. Then, the twist. “Despite Harrison.”
thank you so much, Lisa 🙂
They need to kiss already and talk about their issues! Then kiss some more. 😉
LOL … not yet 😉
I’m very curious about what happened in Melody’s past. Great excerpt!
Thanks, Jana. I might share some snippets over the next few weeks to give you an idea 😉
