This week’s Hook …

“You should’ve asked Oliver to say something.” Suddenly, recalling part of the earlier conversation, she tilted her head to look up at his face. “What did you mean you don’t have to pretend?”

The silence stretching between them was tangible.

“Sarah?”

She gave a slow nod. “Uh-huh.”

“You know this is not right.”

And, yet, he didn’t step away from her or even leave. Why? Was he just as tempted as she was, but his common sense was still switched on?

She shook her head, and ignored his words, leaning into him again for another kiss. To her surprise, this time he slid his hands up her arms to cup her face. Closing her eyes, she enjoyed the touch of his lips. Until …

“You sure this is what you want?” he whispered against her lips.

As words failed her, she gave him a slow nod. It was everything she wanted tonight. Tomorrow would be another day, and she’d deal with it then. This was today and today she wanted to feel.

Wanted to touch.

And wanted to be loved.

She had no doubt whatsoever that Markus wouldn’t hurt her. “Yes, I’m sure.”

“I’ll ruin you for all other men to come,” he replied against her skin. “You sure you want to make that sacrifice?”

Blurb:

Markus and Sarah’s lives couldn’t be more different…

After three years away as a goalkeeper for an English soccer club, Markus DeLeon is happy to be back in Melbourne, back with his family and friends, including Sarah. He has known her since childhood, and has often provided her with a safe place from the teasing of other children and the troubles of a broken home. Yet, events after attending their friends’ wedding set off a shift in their relationship and questions, which neither Markus nor Sarah know how to approach.

Sarah Winter caught her boyfriend cheating on her, and not for the first time Markus offers her a much-needed shoulder to cry on. This time, however, an attraction between them intensifies, ending in a passionate afternoon, and Markus doesn’t know how to handle this new side of their friendship and flees to the coast. Sarah, unsure as well about the recent events, is surprised by his sudden departure, but is soon sidetracked by misunderstandings and a family emergency.

But sometimes risking what you have means you might lose everything…

This week’s Hook …

“I wouldn’t,” she disagreed with more force than she had intended.

Letting out a throaty laugh, he opened the door. “You would so.”

With a gentle push on her back, he moved her inside, and Sarah walked straight towards her bedroom with a mix of disappointment, anger, and…relief.

“Night, Marky.”

“No hot chocolate?”

She stopped and looked over her shoulder, considering the idea of a nice warm drink as well as Markus’ company. He moved towards her, and, again, a look in his blue eyes sent a rush through her that went right to her toes. All her nerves tingled and were on full alert when he lifted his thumb and touched her cheek to wipe a tear away. She was crying.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, she cuddled up against his chest, with his strong arms around her.

“You should’ve told me,” she whispered.

“Which part? That you forgot about the hot chocolate?”

She gave him a soft slap on his arm. “About Timmy.”

As he placed a light kiss on her forehead, he held her even closer. “It wasn’t for me to say anything.”

This week’s Hook …

Sarah rubbed her eyes with the ball of her hand before she turned and met Markus’ eyes. “Thank you, Marky,” she said softly. “Thanks for taking me home.”

Nodding, he stepped closer, took the keys from her, and unlocked the door. “Have a good snooze, baby. And call me in the morning.”

She bit her lip as she took the keys. “I will.” Closing her eyes for a moment, she inhaled a long breath, so unfamiliar with the situation that she needed a second to refocus. Markus had often given her a lift home and dropped her off at the door, but for her to have each nerve in her body responding to his nearness was something new. Somehow, his familiar scent played havoc with her senses, and she had no idea why. She locked her knees to withstand his gaze. And before she gave it a second thought, her mouth was on his.

“What are you doing?” Markus asked against her lips, not backing away, though.

With her hands fisted in his shirt, she lifted her head to meet his gaze. “Can’t you pretend for just one night that I’m not just your friend, but more? You know more as in … sexy … attractive …”

He chuckled lightly, which she didn’t know how to read.

“Marky?”

Moving a strand of hair from her face, he replied, “Aww, baby. I don’t have to pretend, but I know we’d both regret it.”

Hi everyone –

I’m Ba-ack! We’ve just returned from a nice break in Europe, visiting my family and travelling Norway. Definitely have many new ideas for another book.

Today, I’m continuing with another teaser from Book 3 in the Australian Sports Romance Series – Entangled Moments.

This week’s Hook …

“Honey, you’d better go and have a dance with Tamara,” she whispered. “I know you two have issues, but try to put it aside. She looks lonely.”

He followed her gaze and said, “Hope you feel better soon.”

She nodded and then followed Markus towards the doors. Her eyes landed on his tuxedo again, the white shirt, and the dark grey tie. Damn, he was pure sexiness. His blond hair was cut short, the usual slight wave gone. Not something she’d approve of. She liked his hair longer. It gave him that mischievous look that she’d known since childhood. That same look in his blue eyes that had radiated trouble fifteen years ago, when he’d taken her hand and led her to the top of a diving board with the words Let’s go flying. Today, he’d even shaved for the occasion.

A warm tingle teased her in her stomach and between her legs, and she was unable to hold back a shiver, surprised at the intensity of his effect he had on her today.

“For crying out loud, Marky,” she mumbled, then added a lot louder, “Slow down a little. Not everyone is as fit as you are.”

His laugh sent a shiver down her spine.

This week’s Hook …

“Wouldn’t say,” he said with a lift of his shoulder in a quick shrug.

“What do you mean he wouldn’t say?” Tyson shot him a glare. “You have the rings, right?”

Markus nodded.

He’d known Tyson and Oliver for most of his life, since before school. They’d played footy each Saturday and later, during their teenage years, hung out together afterwards as well. Yet, after watching a game of soccer, Markus changed sports. Oliver had switched to baseball a year later, after spending a few months in the States. The youngest of the trio, however, had stayed with football and was one of the most regarded players in the Australian Football League. Despite going their different ways in sports, their friendship had remained as strong as the early years and nowadays they caught up as often as possible to watch a game of cricket or motor racing.

Oliver rushed into the room. “Sorry for that.”

“You will be. Trust me, I’ll think of something to muck up your wedding day, too.”

This week’s Hook …

He sat as he watched Tyson pacing up and down the small room. He’d known his friend for over twenty years, and Ty’s eye twitch was enough proof that he was nervous. Markus couldn’t remember seeing Ty so tense in…well, ever. Not even before any of his important football games. Then again, it wasn’t every day that one married a gorgeous girl. And despite Katie’s best efforts to keep it a low-key event, the media was already present outside the church.

Grabbing his phone, Markus flicked through a few names and dialled Oliver’s number. “Where are you?” he asked when his friend answered the call.

“Give me five minutes.”

Markus raised his brows. “The groom’s having a hard time settling his nerves.”

Oliver let out a bark of laughter. “It’s his wedding day. Yeah, I’d be a little restless too. Do you have the rings? Katie will kill you, if you don’t.”

Although sure he did, panic rose within Markus as he rummaged through his pockets to retrieve the small box. “Yes, all good.”

“Okay,” Oliver replied. “See you in five.”

He hung up and gave Tyson, who was still pacing, a reassuring smile.

“Where the hell is he?”

This week’s Hook …

Staring, Markus DeLeon stood in front of Tyson. The guy definitely knew how to make a tuxedo look good. Markus’ mouth curved into a smile, though, when he saw Ty’s hair.

He cocked a questioning brow. “The hair?”

Tyson instantly raked his hand through it to mess it up a bit. “Grandma Hazel,” he griped through gritted teeth.

Markus wasn’t able to hold back a grin. “Did I just see an eye twitch?”

“Oh man, give me a break here, okay?” Tyson shot him a glare. “And where the hell is Oliver?”

Markus tried his best not to laugh, but failed miserably. He looked around the small room in the back of the church. It was furnished with only two bookcases, a desk with a chair, and a small sofa.

decisive moments

by Iris Blobel

“Apologies, I didn’t mean to come on to you. It’s just that I’m not able to walk past a girl who’s upset. Never have been.”

“Does that happen often?” she asked as she turned back to him.

“Actually, no.” He choked back a snort. “Only with my little niece.”

A hesitant smile spread across her face. “How old is she?”

He raised an eyebrow. “My niece? Turned four just a few days ago.”

She stared at him wistfully as he waited for her next question. Yet, it never came. “I’m kind of getting cold here.” To emphasise his comment, he rubbed his arms with his hands. “Could I invite you for a coffee or tea?”

“No, but thank you for the offer. And thank you for caring.”

“Will you be here again tomorrow?”

Another one of her indecipherable sighs escaped her lips, and she shrugged slightly. “Not sure.”

Her mouth curved into a tentative smile and with some exaggeration she replied, “Yes, I am.”

He frowned, sensing sarcasm in each of these three words. “I suppose I deserve that. Stupid question. I’m sorry.”

Her gorgeous smile did all sorts of things to his insides. “Yes, it was.” Yet, she didn’t offer more.

After a brief, but silent moment, he offered her his hand. “Tyson.”

She ignored it, though. “Nice meeting you, Tyson.”

He chuckled. “This is the part where you’re supposed to tell me your name.” Her sigh was enigmatic as she stared into the distance. Aware of the fine line he was treading here, he contemplated leaving. Yet, a pull towards her, something irresistible, and, yes, some curiosity as to why she sat here early in the morning with a sadness written all over her face didn’t let go of him. The urge to get to know her was growing by the minute. The fact that something was hurting her was obvious by the tears, and everything inside tugged at him to help.
