#SnippetSunday “What if I were a criminal.” #romancebooks #Sundayblog #amwriting

♥ Happy Sunday ♥
After spending a few weeks in Tasmania and thought the place deserves a story. It’s still very much a WIP, but hopefully it’ll turn into something really good. Today’s snippet is still in Alex’s POV.
Enjoy ♥

He studied her face. Her struggle and disappointment was obvious not only through her voice, but also in her demeanour and the sagged shoulders. He pondered about the offer that lay on his lips. He looked over to his father who was tinkering away at the car oblivious about her newest misfortune. Hans was in his sixties and could’ve easily retired a few years ago, but he liked to help people. His services were the most affordable around, because this wasn’t just work for him, but his life, something he loved.
He gazed back at Leonie. “What’s in St. Helens?”
She shrugged. “The scenery. Far away from civilisation. Peace and quiet.”
Nodding, he gave a smile. Again, he thought about his idea. He understood, because these were exactly the reasons he’d bought a house near St. Helens a few years back.
“I have a house in Binalong Bay you could stay for a few days. I’ll only be heading that way next weekend.”
Eyes wide, she said, “I can’t accept that.”
With a lift of his shoulder, he asked, “Why not?”
“Because.”
He choked back a chuckle. “You’re aware this is not really an answer.”
Standing straight now and turning towards him, she explained, “There are many reasons. You don’t know me. I don’t know you. I can’t just stay at your house. What if I were a criminal.”
Rubbing his temple with his finger, he let out a soft laugh. “You just told me you’re not running, but trying to have a holiday.”
“I could’ve lied.”
“Did you?”

♥ Happy Sunday ♥
After spending a few weeks in Tasmania and thought the place deserves a story. It’s still very much a WIP, but hopefully it’ll turn into something really good. I moved into Alex’s POV today.
Enjoy ♥

Alex Mattys’ arms instinctively went around her waist. Her scent filled his senses. A sweet floral mixed with citrus smell. He liked it. Why hadn’t he noticed it earlier today?
He raised his brows. “Are you the one who’s running?”
She blew out a breath as she stepped away from him. Her heavy sigh told him if he wasn’t right with his assumption, he was at least close.
Her eyes met his. “Alex.” Tilting her head slightly, she said, “I’m not running, but trying to have a holiday. But it seems fate has different ideas.”
“Give me an hour and your car will be fixed.”
They both twisted around to look at Hans.
“I’ll just clean it up a little and do some checks,” Hans added.
“There you go. Dad saved the day. You’ll be able to drive off and enjoy your holiday.”
Looking into the distance, she bit her lip and remained quiet.
Alex stepped a bit closer. “May I ask whether there’s something else that is not going according to plan?”
The frown on her beautiful face told him he was spot on, but he didn’t know her and didn’t want to push it. Yet, something inside him urged him to. Wanted to know.
He scratched the back of his head as he watched his dad working away under the bonnet of the car when she replied in just above a whisper, “My accommodation for St. Helens was cancelled.”

He nodded. “Do you mind if I have a look at it?”
Lifting her shoulder in a slight shrug, she replied, “It depends how much you’ll charge me for it. Although a rental, I’d be out of pocket first.”
“I’m happy to help you with the rental company. Which one is it?”
Suddenly, she recalled everyone’s words, warning her not to rent a car over the internet. No insurance, no assurance, no safety … she blew out a breath. This was supposed to be the start of her new beginnings. The start of her life without Tim. Yet, it seemed she wasn’t even able to do that right.
Hans scratched the back of his head, an awkward silence between them. “Okay, let’s deal with that later.” He sauntered towards the car. “So what brings you to Tassie, Miss…”
“My name is Leonie.”
He opened the driver’s side car door and leaned in to pop the bonnet. “What brings you to Tassie, Leonie?”
“Holidays.”
“Where are you heading,” he asked as he hooked the bonnet and leaned over the motor.
“Nowhere in particular. Just …” She really didn’t know. Bridport had been the place she wanted to stay the first night, but for no real reason.
He peeked towards her. “Running away from something?”
“Who’s running?”
Leonie shot around and bumped right into Alex’s chest.

Happy Wednesday everyone.
Hope you’ll enjoy another “hook” from “Journey to her Dreams “. I moved forward a little, but it should be easy to follow.

Today’s Hook:

Alex obviously understood. “But, you know what? It’s late, and I can catch up with Ben any time. Just give me ten minutes to say goodbye to him, and I’ll be ready to go.”
Guilt rushed through Hollie, and she glanced at Jeremy, reminding herself he was one of Davo’s friends, and that had to count for something.
Tugging a stray strand of hair behind her ear, she leaned closer to her friend, “Look, Alex, don’t worry. It’s okay. I have a feeling Jeremy will regret his offer as soon as he has to drive down Dad’s driveway. You enjoy the rest of the night.”
“Are you sure?” Alex asked as she gave Hollie a hug.
She gave a slow nod before meeting Jeremy’s eyes.
“It’s settled then.” He placed his and Hollie’s empty drinks on the bar, took her hand, and guided her to the door.
Still unsure, but at the same time giddy, she looked over her shoulder only to see Alex with her thumbs up and an infectious grin on her face.
It was a clear night in Launceston and warm, considering it was only the beginning of summer. Even though a state in Australia, Tasmania didn’t enjoy the hot days like its northern counterparts, so it was no surprise to see many people out and about during this unseasonably warm night. Hollie drew in a breath when she stepped outside. Aware she was still holding Jeremy’s hand, she slowly removed it. He smiled at her actions, radiating confidence. Had his job taught him so much confidence? Or was it just him? When he placed his arm around her shoulder to guide her down the streets to his car, she let him. Somehow enjoying the closeness and damned if she didn’t like the way he cared for her.
A few blocks down the road, he grabbed his keys out of his pocket to push the remote button. Hollie stared. “This is your car?”

BLURB:

There must be a reason for her dreams…

Hollie Anderson, a young woman living in Tasmania, is content with life, even more so since she has met Jeremy. However, she has been having a recurrent dream that impacts her daily life, as well as her relationship, a dream that eventually takes her on a journey to Ireland.

Samantha Shaughnessy enjoys the success as Head of Advertising for a popular magazine in the Irish capital Dublin. Married to Padraic, she thinks she loves her husband, but when she meets Hollie under unusual circumstances, she needs to face the truth–and not just about her marriage.

When both women meet and find they share an unexpected tie to the past, will they finally be able to move on into relationships with the men they love?

“This blood-pumping novel will keep the reader hooked until the very end.” InD’tale Magazine

“Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this wonderful book and fall in love.” (5 star review)

Mat is a sexy, tattooed New Zealander with a strong sense of family and duty and Tiffany is a woman with a past that continues to haunt her. Can Mat help her overcome her demons and move on with the next phase of her life? Come for the romance and stay for the breathtaking scenery. (5 star review)

4 stars – NEW BEGINNINGS is a very emotional read, one that is heartwarming as well as heart wrenching. It gives you hope in the act of human kindness and that good things do happen to good people. I highly recommend this book.
