Happy Wednesday everyone.
This is my latest release
DEFYING RULES
which is currently on pre-order with the release date on 17 March 2020.
I hope you’ll enjoy today’s “hook”.
Today’s Hook:
“Logan speaking.”
“It’s Harrison.”
Another quick glance to the back told him that Nick was still asleep. It had been hard telling his son the news regarding Jon, his father, the boy’s grandfather.
He blew out a breath, readying himself for the chat with his cousin. “How is everyone?”
There was a moment of silence before Harrison spoke. “Mum’s been at your place for the last two days to be with your mum. She’s struggling. Dad is, too.”
It didn’t surprise him. His father had been close to his brother, Uncle Graham, and his mother got along really well with Auntie Lisa, her sister-in-law.
Logan released the breath he had held as he turned the corner for another near perfect view over Alinta Bay. The sight took his breath every time.
He figured his mother was well taken care of, but what about his sister? She had taken her father’s death hard, like any daughter would, but the two had had a close bond, even closer since his heart attack. Logan worried about her. “How’s Kristen?”
“She’s stayed at my place the last couple of days. Not doing very well, either.”
Logan appreciated that Harrison had stepped in to help her cope. Fighting back the urge to shed a tear, he remembered the last couple of times he had cried. He’d shed a few the first time he’d held his son in his arms. Scared and excited over being a dad. But he’d cried bitterly when Kelly had died only a day later from post-operative complications. Nothing had prepared him for the loss and the void inside him. A widower already at only eighteen years. Yet, he was forced to get up every day to look after his son, care for him. His parents and his sister, Kristen, had been a great help, and little had he known, or dared to think, how wonderful fatherhood would turn out to be.
BLURB:
Sometimes one has to break rules in order to find happiness…
Widower Logan Hendrix is puzzled by the recent series of small crimes against his son’s new teacher. It’s a mystery to him, and he offers her his help. There’s an instant attraction, and Logan wants to take their parent/teacher relationship to a more personal level.
It doesn’t take Addison Ryker long to fall in love with Alinta Bay, the small town she’s moved to for her new teaching position at the local primary school. Her newfound haven is threatened, however, when her house is broken into and she is relying on the unbelievably stubborn but very sexy Logan for help. Although captivated by him, Addison worries her career could be compromised, because there are rules about dating a parent.

#SnippetSunday “Books or no books, I’m still me.” #mustread #MFRWAuthor #amwriting
This is still the story set in Tasmania, Leonie’s attempt to travel around the beautiful Australian state. Today’s snippet is still in Alex’s POV.
Enjoy ♥
“Insecure teenager,” Hans helped her finishing her sentence.
“Oh, for Pete’s sake, you two. Give me a break. Books or no books, I’m still me. I’m still Alex Mattys. Why is everyone treating me differently just because of my books.” Before they were able to reply, he stormed off as he added, “Dad has Mrs. Hamill’s number if you’re still interested. Do as you please.”
Chapter Two
A whoosh of relief rushed through Leonie when she finally arrived in Binalong Bay late afternoon. Hans had given her one of his car and promised her to return the rental the next day. Why she’d agreed to it, she had no idea, but at that moment she had simply wanted to leave, wanted to get away.
Her intentions were to have a break, have some time away from family, friends, colleagues and … and Henry. Especially Henry. She blew out a breath, parked the car in the driveway of the address she’d been given.
After Alex had stormed off, his father had been more than helpful. He’d communicated with Mrs. Hamill as well as given Leonie the keys and directions. She’d been close to turn down the offer, but she didn’t have any other accommodation. Her plan was to stay for a couple of nights until she would’ve found something affordable close by.
Why on earth did she decide to come here? Why didn’t she stay in New South Wales?

DEFYING RULES

I hope you’ll enjoy today’s “hook”.
Today’s Hook:
Driving along, Logan watched the stormy clouds and focussed back onto the road as they emerged from a tunnel of trees and crossed the wooden one-lane bridge over the river delta. To the left side of the overpass two black swans glided through the water towards a handful of ducks resting on a sandbank. He considered waking Nick but decided they could come back to check on the animals another day. Ahead of him and a little to the side low shrubs covered the ground in front of the forest, and he knew that around the corner he would have a stunning view across the ocean. Born and raised in Alinta Bay, he considered it the best place to live and an even better place to raise his son.
Logan loved the view and never got enough of it. He loved the contrast of the blue ocean meeting the luscious green of the forest. The long winding road through gigantic trees was leading right into Alinta Bay. Nick usually struggled with travel sickness coming down this route, it was probably a blessing that he was asleep.
Startled by the ringing of the phone, he checked the ID and his heart sank, not ready, yet, for the conversation he was about to have.
“Logan speaking.”

“Very vivid imagination. Even as a kid. Nicest guy you could meet, though, in real life.”
Leonie stared at him. “Crime books?”
He lifted his shoulder in a slight shrug.
“Bestseller?”
“I’ve been lucky.”
“And very humble,” his dad muttered.
“What’s your name again?”
Alex cocked a brow. “Does it make a difference in regard to your decision?”
She shrugged. “Not really. But, I mean, I’ve never met anybody famous.”
“Again, does it make a difference?”
Pulling her brows into a frown, she countered, “Got anything to hide? Or fame doesn’t sit well with you?”
Moving Hans’ hand off his chest, he asked, “Want to stay at the house or not?”
Leonie looked at his dad and then met his eyes again. “So, let’s get this right. You’re Mr. Nice-guy, but as soon as people find out who you are and what you do for living you turn into…”
“Insecure teenager,” Hans helped her finishing her sentence.
