#SnippetSunday “Otherwise I wouldn’t read at all.” #Romance #Sundayblog #mustread

Happy Sunday.
I’m moving on to another WIP. It’s just an idea at the moment, so bear with me for the first few posts.
Enjoy ♥

Hannah Wood looked around the room, watching the other five women as the group discussed the latest crime story by some up-and-coming new English author. She’d taken weeks to get through the book, bored from the very start, knowing the murderer from around page twenty five.
She listened as the debate was becoming heated whether or not the story was at all plausible and why on earth there was a sex scene in it all and was it really necessary. If yes, it could’ve easily been cut to two or so pages.
Heat crept up into Hannah’s recalling that part of the book. Unlike everybody else, it’d been one of the few parts she’d liked about the book.
She rolled her eyes. She needed to get a life.
“Hannah.”
Hauled back from her reverie, she stared at Liz, her friend hosting the book club tonight. “I’m sorry. I got distracted.”
Liz shook her head. “You didn’t like the book, did you?”
More heat shooting into her cheeks. “No. No, not … not at all,” she stuttered. “It … it was okay … ‘ish.”
Debbie stood and reached for her jacket on her seat. “Hannah, honestly. What are you doing here if you do not like any of the books we’re reading?”
The others got up as well, so Hannah followed. “No, I like the idea of reading something different every month. Otherwise I wouldn’t read at all.”
Placing a hand on Hannah’s arm, Liz suggested, “How about you choose the book for next month’s meeting?”

Happy Wednesday everyone.
BETWEEN GOODBYE AND HELLO is the 3rd and last book in
the Alinta Bay series
The ebook available on AMAZON for 99c .
If you’re a KU subscriber, please take a moment to check out the first two books in the series: “DEFYING RULES” and “TELL IT TO MY HEART”

Today’s Hook:

Melody Foster could feel Harrison’s stare on her as he leaned against the kitchen bench and some discomfort trickled down her spine, leaving her self-conscious.
Lisa stepped closer to the table. “You remember Harrison, don’t you, Melody?”
Not able to take her eyes off him, she simply nodded. He hadn’t changed and still looked as sexy as a when she’d lived here with his tangle of brown hair like a surfer, piercing green eyes, and a few freckles on his face, which made him look ridiculously and boyishly handsome at the same time. But the expression on his face was serious. Not even a twitch of his lips.
Lisa’s words startled her. “I’m not sure, though, what happened to his manners today. I apologise.” She glared at her son.
Melody met Harrison’s green eyes. “Nice to see you again.”
“I’m not sure I can say the same.”

BLURB:

Can two seemingly incompatible people who judge each other on past events be able to find some common ground?

Harrison Hendrix believes in second chances, but when it comes to Melody, he has every reason to doubt it’s possible. He’s conflicted when he sees her back in town and tries his best to see the change in her that other friends mention. Even more so when spending a night with her after being set up for a dinner date.

Life hasn’t been kind to Melody Foster, and she returns to Alinta Bay for a new beginning. Hit by tragedy again, she’s determined to live life to the fullest and with no regrets. She creates a bucket list … on which #8 the very difficult, yet extremely sexy Harrison has been included. Why does it seem he’s always around when she’s in trouble?

Maybe it’s time to take a risk and leave the past where it belongs, but will trusting their instinct be the right choice for them?

“This blood-pumping novel will keep the reader hooked until the very end.” InD’tale Magazine

“Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this wonderful book and fall in love.” (5 star review)

Mat is a sexy, tattooed New Zealander with a strong sense of family and duty and Tiffany is a woman with a past that continues to haunt her. Can Mat help her overcome her demons and move on with the next phase of her life? Come for the romance and stay for the breathtaking scenery. (5 star review)

4 stars – NEW BEGINNINGS is a very emotional read, one that is heartwarming as well as heart wrenching. It gives you hope in the act of human kindness and that good things do happen to good people. I highly recommend this book.

Happy Sunday. I’m continuing with my WIP, another Alinta Bay story.
Jonah and Maddie are still stuck in the lift.
Enjoy ♥

“I need to get out of her.” <Maddie>
“Hey Jonah?”
He moved towards the dashboard. “Yes, mate?”
“They’ll open the second floor door, which should be just above you. There won’t be much room to get out, but enough. I’ve also arranged for some medics. It’s going to be noisy in a few minutes. Are you able to move to the far back of the lift?”
Jonah nodded, realising that the guy couldn’t see him and added, “Will do.”
Exhausted, he carefully shifted Maddie a little further to the back. It’d been an intense half an hour already and he’d only arrived last night. He sat next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, drawing her closer, secure, and, yes, giving him some comfort as well.
“It’s just a matter of minutes now,” he told her, hoping like hell it’d be true.
She placed her hand on his chest and he took it into his own. “I’m okay’ish,” she told him. “Just have a stinking headache.”
“Should I give you a kiss better? My mum always suggested that when I got hurt.”
Carefully and very slowly, she tilted her head towards him, meeting his gaze and something inside of him shifted. Something stirred.
“Jonah?”
“Hmm.”
“I’m usually not so straight forward, but then again, I haven’t ended up in a man’s arms within only forty-five minutes, but would you have … would you like … would you—”
“Take you for dinner?”

Today’s Hook:

“So you finally stop being in denial. You’re attracted to her like the moths are to the light. And we all understand. After all, she’s a kind person.” She shrugged. “A kind person who had some trouble in the past. No one’s perfect. Right?”
He was tempted to give her a piece of his mind, but knew all his reasoning with his mum whether she was right or wrong would get him nowhere. He followed her to the kitchen which was furnished like something out of the 1950s with the old cabinets in orange colours, the dated gas stove, and the well-scarred cutting island.
As soon as he stepped through the door, he almost froze when he saw Melody sitting at the table with a cup in her hand. The smell that lingered in the air told him coffee. She looked up and smiled, and he was briefly taken aback by how different she looked.
Or had he never noticed her beautiful chocolate brown eyes? And what about those full lips? The dark blonde hair was shorter and nicely cut into one of the latest fashionable hairstyles that every second actress was sporting nowadays. He stared at her and noticed her disappearing smile.

“Shit.”
“I swear if you don’t stop cursing—”
Jonah cupped the back of her head and placed the other hand around her back, slowly manoeuvring her into a lying position. Then he quickly shrugged out of his jacket and used it as a pillow for her head before he adjusted her legs to a slight bend. He quickly stood and hit the emergency button.
“Mate, are you there?”
“Jonah, I’m here. Are you guys okay? Sorry about the little hiccup.”
He glanced at Maddie, who was still conscious, thankfully, even sporting a weak smile. Rubbing his face, he said, “You guys need to get into fifth gear. Maddie hit her head, slight cut over across the left eyebrow, feeling faint.” Turning to her, he wanted to know, “Are you feeling nauseous?”
“Nothing a bit of cola can’t fix,” she murmured.
He rolled his eyes. “Maddie!”
“I need to get out of here.”

About Beth Rinyu:

Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed Creative Writing. There was always something about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen – or in today’s world a touch of the keyboard. I love creating deep characters who you will love or love to hate.

My life is not as interesting as my books or the characters in them, but then again whose life is? My happy place is a seat by the ocean with my feet in the sand or on the busy streets of New York City. You will more than likely find one of these places as the setting for most of my books.
