Happy Wednesday everyone. I’ve decided to move on to another book I’d like to share with you. It’s an older one, the second book in my Australian Sports Stars Series. “Let Me Love You” is Oliver’s story. ENJOY ♥

Today’s Hook:

Coach Erik Becker rubbed his face.
“It’s not gonna happen today,” Oliver persisted.
With a grimace on his face, his coach nodded. “Righteo, call it a day. But I want you back out there again in the morning, though.”
Oliver eased off his gloves and shoved them into his back pocket, before removing his helmet.
The coach gave him a gentle slap on his back. “I need you to concentrate more tomorrow. Remember what I told you. You need to focus on your proper stance as well as swinging the bat. Keep your eye on the ball as it comes towards you. Try to connect the bat with the ball, preferably at the fat of the bat. We have a game coming up soon. Go and deal with the shoulder issue. Check in for a massage.”
Oliver wiped his forehead with his arm when he noticed a woman standing in the coach’s shadow. Raising his eyebrows, he nodded towards her as to ask who she was.
Erik turned slightly. “Oliver, this is my niece, Tamara. She’s moved here from Perth. Tamara, this is Oliver.”
Oliver extended his hand towards her. “Nice meeting you.”
She ignored his hand and took a step back. Taken aback by her reaction, Oliver instinctively checked his hand for dirt or sweat. Questioningly,
he looked at his coach.

BLURB:

Oliver Dempsey, pitcher for a Melbourne baseball club, loves the women, and they love him…
But he keeps them at an arm’s length, and when he meets Tamara, he’s unprepared for the attraction he feels for her. Told by his coach that she’s off limits, only draws him in more.

Tamara Amis moved to Melbourne to find some distance between her past and herself…
With the help of her uncle, the coach of a Melbourne baseball club, she quickly finds a job, and a place to live. Yet, one meeting with the handsome pitcher stirs unexpected emotions that threaten to overwhelm her.

It’s Oliver’s injury that brings them together, but as they find out about each other’s pasts, how can they be ready to share a future?

Australia Day long weekend – HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY ♥♥

I’ve added another little snippet from my WIP, another Beauty Bay story.

Enjoy ♥

“It was hard on both on them. Jesse’s girl left him, because of the extra person in the house and his inability to be flexible, as in, going out on the drop of a hat, or going away for the weekend.”
Another long pause and Lexie was conscious of how much he struggled with the story.
“Dana’s been amazing. Working hard to get her strength back. She almost regained full movement in her arm and leg. Only her speech is still a bit off. Anyway,” he added as he blew out a breath. “A few months ago she met Mario. Stroke survivor as well, but I’d say fully recovered. They applied for a little unit in a carer’s facility and moved in a few weeks back.”
“That’s great news,” Lexie butted in before realising it.
“It is. They did well. Obviously, Jesse, the big brother is still a bit antsy about the arrangement. He just started to get used to it and now this.”
She raised her brows. “A strained wrist?”
He shook his head as he raked his hand through his hair.
“Remember, it’s none of my business. I’m still not sure why you’re telling me.”

I do appreciate each single one of them!

Today’s Hook:

Sweat ran down Oliver’s back, soaking his shirt. He’d been on the field for a couple of hours, but frustration grew in him with every ball he missed. He placed his hands on his knees and took a deep breath, fixing his stare at the ground. For Pete’s sake, he was a pitcher, not a hitter, and well known for his fastballs as well as his perfect curveballs. Alas, he had neglected his hitting. Today, his swing was below average, and, unable to focus, he walked over to the bench where he spotted Coach Becker shaking his head towards him.
Pointing his finger back towards the field, the coach said, “Head right back out there, Oliver. You need to improve your hand-eye coordination. I want to see more, and better.”
Oliver cursed under his breath. “It’s not going to happen. My shoulder’s killing me. It’s been a long day.”
Coach Erik Becker rubbed his face.
“It’s not gonna happen today,” Oliver persisted.

My #Beginnings #Christmas #ShortStory – #Romance #Mustread #Bookseries

A few years ago I wrote a few books about sisters Sophie and Mia Levesque as well as their friends. Book #1 tells their story inheriting a house in Hobart / Tasmania without knowing who the generous testator was.

Over the last year I re-edited the stories and self published them. They’re now all available on amazon.

Loving the characters so much … I gave them a little Christmas Story two years ago, which I believe is worth re-sharing again ♥.

ENJOY ♥♥♥

Sophie Levesque breathed in and out, in and out, trying hard to ignore the pain, and hoping for the paramedics to arrive soon.
“Sure, you don’t want me to drive you to the hospital?” her husband Mark asked.
She glared at him as she breathed in and out again.
Her sister Mia gently placed a pillow under her head. “Keep breathing. In … and … out.”
Sophie grabbed her sister’s wrist. “I know what to do,” she said through gritted teeth.
“Geesh,” Mia’s fiancée Josh commented. “A bit touchy isn’t she.”
The doorbell rang and Josh headed towards the front door. Sophie heard muffled voices and a bark of laughter.
“Great timing, Soph,” Zach said as he stepped into the room, closely followed by his wife, Natasha. “The Christmas Eve service is starting in half an hour.”
An urge to push overwhelmed Sophie, and she squeezed Mia’s wrist and reached out for Mark’s hand.
“No pushing, honey. Don’t push. Breathe, keep on breathing.”
If Sophie could’ve, she’d hit him with another glare.
Natasha came closer and sat next to her. “Aiming for your own little Christmas story, are you?”
“Okay, everyone,” Sophie panted. “Forget the paramedics. Get whatever it is you need to deliver a baby.”
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed helpless stares. “Go!” she screamed as the next urge to push hit her.
“I think I heard something about warm water,” someone said.
“And towels.”
“A blanket.”
When Mark made a move to leave, she held on tight to his hand. “You,” she gasped. “You stay here.”
He nodded. “What do you want me to do?”
“You need to look whether you can see the baby.”
Mark’s eyebrows shot up as he paled.
“Oh for God’s sake, Mark. Nothing you haven’t seen before.”
“Well,” he stuttered. “They were different circumstances.”
“Get used to these circumstances,” she screamed as another wave of pain hit her.
Mark moved her dress up her legs and took off her panties. “Honey, it’s not the best sight, but … oh my God …”
“What?”
“I can see the head,” he said excitedly. “Holy shit.”
Mia returned with the water, Natasha had some towels in her hands, and Zach gave her a sip of water. In the corner of the room sat Josh, right next to the Christmas tree with the phone in his hand, pale as a block of goat cheese, taking instructions from the doctor.
Over the next fifteen minutes, Sophie pushed, screamed, and ordered everyone around. By the time the paramedics arrived, Sophie held a little baby in her arms, with Mark by her side.
“It seems we’re late,” one of the paramedics said with a smile. He stepped closer and knelt in front of Sophie. “What’s his name?”
“Her name is Natalie.”
“Perfect and so appropriate. Congratulations.”

“Hello?”
“Is this Ranger Jesse?”
The timid voice on the other end was familiar and Jesse rubbed his hand over his face. “Yes, it is,” he replied as calm as possible.
“It’s Zoe here. Mum asked me to apologise for calling so late.”
He took a deep breath, guilt rushing through him, but even more so, his curiosity was piqued.  “Hi Zoe. That’s okay. I’m sorry the way I answered the call.”
“I wanted to ask whether you’d like to come for dinner tomorrow night.”
Shit.
“Zoe, is your mum there?”
She was quiet for a beat before she responded, “Yes.”
He heard some muffled voices, but wasn’t able to decipher anything.
“Hi.”
Sure, that her hesitation was equal to her daughter’s, he had to make sure he chose the right words. “Hi,” he replied. “Look, I’m on my way to Melbourne. My sister is in hospital and I need to find out more details. Can I take a raincheck on the dinner? I wasn’t sure how to explain that to Zoe. Harrison can give you some background tomorrow.”
“Is she all right?”
“A strained wrist. It’s a long story.”
“I’m sorry we bothered you with the invitation, it was—”
“No,” he interrupted. “No, please, you didn’t bother me at all. I actually feel bad that I brushed off Zoe like this.”
“I’ll explain it to her. She’ll understand. Is there anything we can do to help?”
How much he would’ve like to tell her to be by his side, which was unusual for him, because he preferred to keep these problems on a need to know basis. Again, he was taken aback at how much she drew him in.

Today’s Hook:

There was a groan on the other end of the line. “I heard about your phone call. You must’ve left some impression, but if you start any rumours by calling her my girlfriend I will kill you.”
As he stepped inside the cafe, Mat asked, “You heard?”
“I’ve already spoken to her, but I don’t—”
“I’m glad you did. Tiffany was desperate to talk to you. I hope you were able to help her.”
Mat held his phone away for a moment, smiled at the young woman behind the counter, and ordered his coffee.
‘‘You’re still there?” Steve asked with a loud voice.
Mat shook his head with a smile and explained, “Yes, mate, just ordering a much-needed coffee.” His friend’s resigned sigh gave him another chuckle. “If you’ve already talked to her, we’re all good, ay.”
“We’re all good. Thanks for calling anyway and good luck finding your way. But, by the way, what the hell did you two talk about?”
Mat took a sip of the coffee and was impressed by the flavour considering it cost him only a few bucks.
“Mat, you’re pissing me off here. Will you focus on this conversation?”
“Geez, Steve. When did you get so touchy?”
There was a sharp intake of breath and an exhale on the other end of the line. “Tiff had a rough twelve months and a shitty morning. I’m simply concerned.”
Mat froze mid-stride. Damn! He’d assumed something was wrong, but now he was curious about the history of it all. “What happened?”

BLURB:
Pikorua, the Maori name for the symbol, is a twist that is said to symbolise the strength of the bond between two people. Mat is certain there is something between Tiffany and him.

When Tiffany Cahill opens the door to the police, memories flood her mind of the previous year and a relationship gone bad. Frightened, she calls her friend, Steve, for help, but instead a stranger answers the phone. Little does Tiffany know how much this New Zealander is going to impact her life, especially after she is assaulted only a few hours later.

Mat Apanui, the owner of a helicopter tour company in New Zealand, can’t ignore the worry in Tiffany’s voice when he answers Steve’s phone. Before he knows it, he is spending most of his business trip to Melbourne with her. Desperate to keep her safe after an attack, he invites her to stay with him in Queenstown, NZ.

With her safety at risk, how will Tiffany overcome her reservations and trust the sexy stranger enough to fly across the Tasman Sea?

I return to my story I started a few weeks back. This is Lexie’s POV again.

Enjoy ♥

“By the way, thanks for these.”
Lexie choked back a chuckle. “I’d like to take credit for it, but it was all Zoe.”
“Doughnuts on a Sunday morning,” Julie said. “You lucky man.” Turning to Lexie, she added, “I’ll be right back.”
There was an awkward silence in the room as soon as Julie had left. Suddenly the four walls seemed so much closer than before.
“Thank you so much for letting her help you,” she said, breaking the quietness. “I haven’t seen her so happy in a long time.”
“My pleasure. Why don’t you come through and we’ll wait for Julie in there.”
Lexie tugged a strand of hair behind her ear. “I’m a bit worried, Zoe wants you and the animals all to herself. I’m the baddie at the moment since moving her here from Perth.”
Without any hesitation, he took her hand, and gently pulled her into the other room where she found Zoe giggling and laughing with yet another staff member amongst an amount of small animals. But before she was able to move closer to her daughter, she was suddenly aware of his hand touching hers. Heat and embarrassment shot through her at the thought that he must’ve noticed the eczema on her skin.
“This is Chloe,” he introduced the other woman who was placing the joey in Zoe’s lap.
“Chloe, this is Zoe’s mother, Lexie. Julie is getting some milk so she can feed some of the kittens.” He turned to Lexie and said, “I’ll just grab you some cotton gloves to protect your skin. You don’t want to aggravate it even more.”
She wanted to respond to his comment, but was momentarily speechless by his kindness and care, and then was distracted by her daughter’s effort to feed the small joey.

Today’s Hook:

The GPS voice in Matiu Apanui’s car had as little of a clue as he did about the directions to get to his meeting place, and after half an hour, he was still on the western side of Melbourne instead of in the city. The reason for it was Tiffany, who was on the threshold of his thoughts. He replayed the phone conversation over and over in his head. It was clear something must’ve upset her. Even though she’d relaxed during their short conversation, he’d been able to sense her tension.
“Shit,” he shouted as he pressed the speed dial button on his phone, remembering he’d never left a note for his friend.
“Mate, where are you?” Steve asked, by way of answering.
“I have no idea. Near a big park. Looks pretty with the trees alongside the walking tracks. Had no idea Melbourne had all these deciduous trees—”
“Mat!”
“The lovely GPS lady took me on a sightseeing tour first it seems. I’m considering stopping for a coffee and to reboot her at the same time.”
“And you called me to tell me that?”
Mat noticed the frustration in his friend’s voice and asked bluntly, “Tell me about your girlfriend.”
There was a brief silence, before Steve asked, “You want to talk about Jess?”
Mat’s laughter echoed in the small car as he turned off the engine and got out. With a few long strides, he headed towards the café. “I thought Jess is more than your girlfriend. I’m talking about Tiffany.”

BLURB:

I return to my story I started a few weeks back. This is Lexie’s POV again.

Enjoy ♥

“Good morning, Zoe,” one of the staff members said as she came through the door. “How are you?”
“Good morning,” her daughter replied enthusiastically. “Is Ranger Jesse here?”
A smile spread on the staff member’s face. “Yes, he is. And he’s waiting for you to help him feed the joey and the kittens.”
Eyes wide, Zoe said, “Can I go through?”
“You most certainly can.”
And as if Lexie wasn’t there, Zoe rushed off leaving her mother behind. “Good morning, Julie,” she finally acknowledged the young woman.
“How are you, Lexie? Would you like to go through as well to help?”
“Oh, I think I’d be the third wheel in there. I have a feeling my girl has not only fallen in love with the animals, but also has a crush on Jesse,” she replied, hoping to sound as casual as possible, as well as appropriate as possible.
Julie chuckled. “She’s not the only one. The kindergarten groups stop by on a regular basis and I often wonder whether it’s for the benefit of the children or if the teachers need another fix of Jesse.”
Lexie tried to smile, but the damn jealousy returned. It was ridiculous. Again, she told herself that she didn’t even know him. “I can only imagine,” she finally responded. Then she looked around. The couple of old chairs in the corner next to a small table stacked with animal magazines didn’t tickle her fancy and Julie seemed to have picked up on it.
“Come on through. I’ll prepare a small bottle for you to feed the kittens. There are eight, I’m sure your daughter lets you help with at least one of them.”
“Eight?” Lexie repeated with some surprise as she followed Julie.
“Yes. I’m afraid so. We found them near the supermarket dumpster.”
“Dumpster?” Stunned by the information, Lexie’s voice went up a notch.
Julie nodded. “The mother probably is a family cat, but nobody made sure she was fixed up. There’s always the excitement about the family pet having babies, but once they’re born, the work and care is too much for most.”
“I understand, but that’s no reason to leave them next to the dumpster.”
“Sometimes we even find them inside one of them.”
The sound of Jesse’s voice startled her and she shot around. The concern on his face was just as sexy as the smile that followed when he lifted the doughnut and coffee. “By the way, thanks for these.”
