Happy Sunday
I’ve returned to an old manuscript which I started years and years ago.
The story is about Sadie who’s found her mother’s diary, which will eventually take her on a journey to Germany.
… she’s just landed in Singapore …

ENJOY ♥

Today’s Snippet

My shoulders sag as I let out a deep sigh. “I apologise. This is all too much for me.”

He flashes me one of his sexy smiles again, and I notice how near perfect his teeth are. I know, people think I’m obsessed about it, but hey, when you have a small gap between your front teeth, it kind of stands out when others don’t.

Mathias rakes his hand through his short, brown hair. It’s a bit like being in the movies, he just knows all the right moves.

“I’m Sadie,” I finally say. “I’m currently a shadow of myself because that flight killed me. I don’t think I could bear eating anything, but I’d love to come with and have a drink.”

He laughs and I’m sure I’ve just fallen in love!

“C’mon Sadie,” he says as he takes my hand. “Let’s get you something to drink.” As we walk through Singapore’s airport, I notice how I just follow without looking where we’re going.

Maa-tee-aas <Mathias> smiles and suddenly my stomach makes a big flip.

“Was this your first flight?” he asks.

I nod. “It’s obvious, right?”

My tired eyes are all of a sudden wide awake when they meet Mathias’ dark-brown eyes. He looks absolutely gorgeous, even after the eight hours flight. I notice his olive skin and wonder whether it’s a tan acquired from surfing the famous Sydney beaches. His track pants hang loosely on his hips and the worn-out T-shirt with “You think I’m gorgeous, wait till you meet my dad” written on the front covers what seems a very athletic chest. I giggle and notice how he looks down to check out what amuses me.

When he looks back at me, he asks, “Want to have something decent to eat?”

I consider the question, because the thought of eating makes my stomach go mad at me, but the thought of saying no to Mathias makes my heart scream out loud yes, yes, yes.

“That flight has really taken a toll on you.”

I look straight into two gorgeous blue eyes and whisper, “Hi.”

It’s the guy from across the aisle. There’s no need for me to whisper. In fact, a louder than usual volume would’ve likely been more appropriate, but in all my shyness it’s all I can come up with.

“Glad I found you,” he admits.

I sense a smile tug on my lips. Yes, so am I, but all I can do is nod.

He holds out his right hand. “Mathias. I’m from Sydney.”

I notice how he says Maa-tee-aas and take his hand, which feels oddly soft and a bit cool. Mathias obviously has had the common sense to wash his hands after eight hours on the plane.

“Nice meeting you,” I croak and I sigh. “I swear I don’t always sound like this.”

Maa-tee-aas smiles and suddenly my stomach makes a big flip.

“I meet you outside,” the guy from across the aisle says and I try to make eye contact with him.

I just nod, not having enough energy to talk above all the noise. And I add a smile, too. Actually, it’s a genuine smile. I’d love to talk to someone and I’d really like to talk to this guy even more.

I step out of the plane and walk through an eerie tube-looking gate. Initially, I’m a bit overwhelmed by what’s in front of me and all I can think of is: this is Singapore. I take in the details as I follow the crowd, because I have no idea where I’m supposed to go. The travel agent told me to change planes over here, but I guess I should’ve listened more carefully.

It’s obvious to me from after just the few minutes that I’m in a different country and not only because of the language, which seems to be English most of the time, but the atmosphere. It’s different and foreign, and so beautiful with flowers everywhere and calming music. There’s a couch over near a little water fountain and I’m heading straight to it soaking in the hustle of the place.

I startle when I feel a hand on my shoulder. “Hi there.”

#SnippetSunday “(I’m) Just not made for flying…” #Romancebooks #love #freeread

Happy Sunday
I’ve returned to an old manuscript which I started years and years ago, but I put aside after my mum passed away as this is loosely based on her father’s story.
The story is about Sadie who’s found her mother’s diary, which will eventually take her on a journey to Germany.

I hope you had a chance to buy (and hopefully read) my latest release ENTANGLED MOMENTS – book 3 in the Australian Sports Romance series . If you bought a copy – THANK YOU … if not, the book is still only 99c.

Today’s Snippet

The sound of the plane engine in the background and the soft noises around me make my reading redundant as my eyes grow heavy and I fall asleep.

The lady’s gentle touch on my arm wakes me and she informs me we’re about to land in Singapore. I thank her and look around taking in the commotion on the plane. It’s busier than the Vic Market in Melbourne. Honestly!

Anyway, I grab Grandma’s book and curse that I wasn’t careful enough and it slipped on the floor when I’d fallen asleep. But a good check-up tells me it’s still in good order. I carefully pack it in my bag and follow the flight assistant’s instructions. My ears give me a hint they don’t like it and the momentary discomfort distracts me from the bumpy landing and the nauseous feeling creeping up in my stomach.

“Honey, are you right?” the lady asks me.

I nod. “All good. Just not made for flying,” I joke. The next thirty minutes are like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. It’s probably similar to a herd of cows moved from one paddock to the other. People are clutching to their belongings and pushing towards the door. I feel like telling them that there’s no fire or the last one doesn’t have to clean up, but I remain silent and seated. They’re probably all as tired and exhausted as I am. The sleep was too short and I just can’t shake off the lethargy out of my limbs.

This was the last snippet – Sadie is on the plane and the “human traffic” is people walking up and down the aisle.

Today’s Snippet

After a while I just give up. The “human traffic” has stopped, but dinner (or is it lunch time?) is about to be served. I make an effort and re-read Grandma’s next diary entry. She must’ve had a bad day, because her handwriting wasn’t the best that day. I curse myself for not having listened to Mum better when she tried to teach me Fraktur, but in all fairness, how was I supposed to know that I’d need it one day. Back then, it felt like a dead language to me. Not language, but you know what I mean. Dead alphabet.
“I heard from Konrad again today. His letters are such a light in these miserable days nowadays. Me and the children stayed in the cellar most of the day because of the bomb attacks. He’s in Greece. I read the letter to the children as he described the scenery and the sea. The blue of the water must’ve taken his breath away. I wish I could be there with him. Still, I wish I could just BE with him. I miss him.”

His mouth curved into a smile. “Baby, no you don’t. The only person deserving something is Timmy. And that’s a big fist connecting with his face.”

She laughed, but regretted it straight away. “Oh, my God, Marky. Don’t make me laugh, please. I have the worst hangover ever. The last glass of the red wine last night didn’t agree with me.”

“You’ve done well fooling everyone today if that’s the case.”

She stared at him. “Do you have any idea what Katie would’ve done to me if I hadn’t performed?”

He laughed, because he probably did. Katie was kind and petite, but knew what she wanted. “How about I take you home? I’m sure this wedding party is near its end and will possibly survive without you.”

“Promise me a hot chocolate?”

His body shook slightly as he held back his laughter. His soft snicker told her he was thinking of their holidays in the Swiss Alps as well.

Happy Sunday
I continue today with my latest release ENTANGLED MOMENTS
book 3 in the Australian Sports Romance series

Today’s Snippet

“I walked in on Timmy being with another woman yesterday afternoon. In his bed … you know…” Her words were barely audible. She was more embarrassed now than hurt.

Markus leaned back and met her gaze. Like so often, his beautiful blue eyes conveyed such warmth and understanding. “Ouch!” he whispered.

“C’mon, say it,” she coaxed.

“Say what?”

“You know what. The I told you so.”

The words stung like acid in her stomach. Yes, Markus had told her more than a couple of times that he thought there’d been something iffy about Timmy. Even Ty and Oliver had voiced their concerns, but she’d been happy the last four months. She hadn’t expected that one. Not at all. So last night she’d drowned her sorrows in that one glass of red wine too many and was now paying for it.

Markus gently pulled her a little bit closer again. “I’m not going to say any such thing.”

“I deserve it, though.”

In all fairness, it’d hadn’t been their first kiss, but they had been about five years old when their mouths had accidentally met for the first time, and Markus had given her a wet, sloppy kiss in kindergarten as well when she’d fallen off the slide.

So why was her body betraying her today?

“I have to take a raincheck, Marky,” she told him. “But thanks, anyway.”

“Want to tell me what’s up with you?” He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. “You’re usually the first one on the dance floor and the last one to leave.”

Sarah let out another sigh before she decided what to tell him, if anything at all.

Markus had always been a good friend. More than that. He’d always been there for her, during good and bad times.

Especially during bad times.

Happy Sunday
I continue today with my upcoming release ENTANGLED MOMENTS – book 3 in the Australian Sports Romance series.

Today’s Snippet

Startled, Sarah nearly spilled the drink. Yet, the few simple words and his presence made her feel better already. For as long as she remembered, Markus had called her baby. Initially, it had annoyed her, because she’d been so proud of having finally reached her teenage years, but nowadays …nowadays she revelled in the comfort of their closeness. Tilting her head slightly to meet his gaze, she let out a soft sigh.

He laughed as he placed his arm around her for a little hug. “Want to dance?”

His mouth was so close to her ear, his breath touched her skin as he spoke. A faint shiver trickled down her spine. She’d known Markus for over twenty years, and she couldn’t remember her body ever responding to him like this. The combination of red wine, hangover, and the pain medication was clearly messing with her. After all, they’d shared lunches together at school, went together to movies and concerts, shared heartaches, and they even shared their first kiss celebrating Mark’s thirteen’s birthday. Both decided then and there that it wasn’t for them.
